Chapter 16 Idealistic Abstract Painting
Chapter 16 Idealistic Abstract Painting
Before dinner, the two arrived at the restaurant, and Link activated his super hearing to monitor the area around the gallery.
Not long after the two sat down, Tracy arrived. She had driven herself that day. When she came over, she covered her mouth in surprise, "My God, Jessica, is that you?"
"How is it?" Jessica asked with a smile, "Don't you recognize me?"
"Of course, Chanel, Cartier?" Tracy then whispered, "Looks like he really is a multi-millionaire."
"Yes, he said my hairstyle and clothes were terrible," Jessica whispered to Tracy, covering her mouth. "I spent the whole day shopping, but there are still things I haven't finished buying."
"I'll go home with you tonight."
"Go back? Are you crazy?" Tracy looked shocked. "You should strike while the iron is hot!"
"Are you stupid? My underwear is still at home. The only things we haven't bought are underwear and pajamas," Jessica said somewhat embarrassedly.
Women dress up for those they love, and Americans are no exception. Tracy suddenly realized, then chuckled and asked, "What kind are you planning to buy?"
"We'll see when the time comes!" Jessica blushed.
By this time, Link had already instructed the waiters to have the chef recommend today's dishes and pair them with wine.
Then, based on the recommendations, they made adjustments, since everyone's appetite and tastes are different.
The waiter quickly brought over the chef's recommendations, and Link told the two ladies to adjust the ingredients themselves, while he himself didn't need to make any changes.
While chatting with the two men, Link kept an eye on the gallery. After quite some time, a convoy caught his attention.
The convoy stopped in front of the gallery, and conversations could be heard inside. Wilson Fisk had arrived and wanted to enter the gallery by himself, without anyone following him.
Link and the others had almost finished eating and were about to chat for a while when Link suddenly said, "Alright, ladies, how about we go somewhere else? We were thinking of buying some oil paintings yesterday."
"Okay!" Tracy agreed first.
She wanted to help her younger sister make a decision!
The three of them paid the bill and left. Jessica and Link shared a car, and after getting in, she said, "Jessica and I are going home tonight. We still have a lot of things to tidy up."
"No problem, here's the apartment key. And here's this for you." Link took out a card and handed it to Jessica.
"Remember to buy from big brands, I'm really looking forward to it."
Jessica knew she couldn't afford those big brand items, but after hesitating for a moment, she accepted them anyway.
"Do you want me to go to work?" Jessica asked suddenly, "Or would you prefer me to stay at home?"
"It's your choice," Link said. "But don't rush. Find a job you like, instead of always giving up halfway through like in the past."
"Women can have their own careers!"
"Yes, I'll think about it carefully." Jessica began to take her future seriously.
Link drove to the gallery, opened the car door for Jessica, and helped her out. She was wearing a black low-cut dress, a wool coat, and high-heeled boots.
The two met up with Tracy and entered the gallery together. Link introduced, "I looked it up, and this place is quite famous. It mainly features modern oil paintings."
"I originally planned to come and see you yesterday, but I ran into you guys instead."
Jessica looked at the several oil paintings hanging by the door and asked, "What are these paintings about?"
"That depends on the individual. These oil paintings all have their own names, but whether they resonate with you is up to you to see for yourself," Link said with a smile. "This kind of work is very much a matter of personal taste."
"Some people don't understand it at all, while others like it very much."
"The designer left many areas of the apartment blank, so that the owner could decorate them themselves."
"Yes, I see that many places are indeed very empty." Jessica nodded as well, and the three of them began to walk inside, pausing briefly at each artwork along the way.
Link hadn't yet encountered a work that moved him, so he didn't immediately pay attention to Wilson Fisk. He didn't need to search for him; he could simply attract Vanessa Marianne.
After all, she's the manager here, an art dealer, and she can judge whether customers will buy oil paintings.
The three of them stopped in front of a work that was predominantly red, or rather, Link stopped. He looked at it with his X-ray vision and discovered the artist's hidden signature, though it was certainly not that of the deceased great painter.
He felt that this work gave him some inspiration; the brushwork was good, and the feeling was quite unique.
The colors red and orange seemed chaotic, but they gave him a sense of warmth. He thought about his dining room at home, and it seemed that this painting was very suitable for him.
Jessica glanced at Link, then carefully examined him as well. She followed Link's advice and didn't look at what was actually drawn, but rather at the overall feeling it gave off.
Wilson Fisk is here today to invite Vanessa Marianne to dinner.
He took a liking to this woman. While buying oil paintings here, he became infatuated with her. At that moment, one of them invited her out, and the other agreed.
But we can't leave now; there are still many guests here.
Wilson Fiske said he could stay by himself and wouldn't interfere with her work, or that he admired the way the woman worked.
Vanessa quickly spotted Link and his two companions standing in front of a painting. From the way the man looked at the painting, she knew he wanted to buy it.
So she walked over and stood to Link's left, with Jessica on Link's right arm and Tracy standing to Jessica's side.
"Sir, are you very interested in this painting?" Vanessa didn't discuss the painting's artistic conception herself, since Link hadn't come alone; he had brought a female companion.
Link turned his head and looked over. This woman did indeed have an outstanding temperament, but she also liked to be near danger.
“Yes, I feel a sense of warmth in this painting,” Link said. “I want to hang it in my dining room.”
"It would be even more suitable if I had more children in the future."
Jessica blushed upon hearing this. Was he going to have her baby?
Vanessa nodded slightly, indicating that this man understood art, and asked, "Sir, you have a very profound understanding of art."
"No, I don't know much about these things, especially abstract paintings," Link said, shaking his head. "I recently bought a few books and learned a little about painting techniques and styles, mainly to decorate my new apartment."
"But I understand psychology, and I think these works are more idealistic; it mainly depends on the collector's opinion."
"It is always people who give them value."
"Well said." Wilson Fisk suddenly spoke up from the side. He had been watching Vanessa, and when he saw Vanessa walk to Link's side, he naturally saw Link as well.
"Mr. Lin, do you remember me?"
