Chapter 403 Above the Sea—I Am Invincible!
The pirate who surrendered was pushed to the front by the crowd.
The pirate, his face flushed with excitement and his chest heaving, knelt down before Euron, his voice hoarse with extreme excitement: "My lord—it's all here!"
Euron looked at the excited pirate and asked gently, "What's your name?"
The pirate trembled, quickly lowering his head even further, his voice stammering with nervousness: "Lord Euron, Lord of the Sea Beasts, my name is—Brook!"
"Brook," Euron repeated, his tone calm yet carrying an undeniable authority, "from now on, you don't need to kneel before me. The Iron Islands don't have that kind of rule."
His gaze swept over the tense crowd around him, and his voice rang out clearly: "From today onwards, you are the squad leader."
Brooke looked up abruptly, her face filled with unbelievable ecstasy, her lips trembling, unable to utter a word for a moment.
Euron said no more, turned to Lord Rodrik Harlow, who was standing quietly to the side, and gestured, "Make an estimate."
Rodrik Harlow stepped forward calmly, his sharp gaze sweeping over the treasure on the beach. He opened each chest, inspected the sacks, twirled gold coins between his fingers, and weighed the gems. After a moment, he turned to Euron, his voice clear and precise: "Twenty-five chests in total. Half are gold dragons, and the other half are pearls and various gems. This portion alone is initially estimated to be worth three hundred thousand gold dragons."
Rodrik kicked the pile of sacks lightly with his foot again: "These fourteen sacks mostly contain gold and silver utensils..."
Antiques and some miscellaneous items that are difficult to categorize are estimated to be worth between 30,000 and 50,000 gold coins.
The conclusion was: "The total estimated value of all the spoils is approximately 330,000 gold dragons."
The Iron People didn't show much emotion when they heard the number. They continued to drink and eat as usual. They had seen many more mountains of gold and silver than that, having followed Euron.
But the newly surrendered pirates were completely different. They stared intently at the pile of treasure, their throats bobbing up and down, swallowing repeatedly, their eyes filled with undisguised greed and shock.
Euron ignored all of this and simply said, "Take a thousand gold dragons and reward Brook. The rest of the wealth will be distributed according to future merits."
These words are like throwing a boulder into a calm lake.
Brook himself froze, his mouth agape as if he had heard something utterly unbelievable. The other surrendered pirates around him exchanged bewildered glances, hardly believing their ears.
Euron looked at Brooke's astonished expression and raised an eyebrow: "What, you think it's not enough?"
"No! No! No!" Brooke snapped out of her daze, shaking her head violently, her voice trembling. "It's—it's too much! My lord, all this treasure is yours—"
"It's not mine! It belongs to everyone who goes to war, including you."
"Everyone who has contributed will receive their due share; that's the rule of the Iron Islands," Euron interrupted him, his tone calm yet carrying an air of self-righteous arrogance. "You're taking more because without you, we might have missed out on these treasures."
Euron's gaze swept over the still-shocked pirates, his voice clear to everyone: "A mere 330,000 gold dragons are not worth such a fuss." He paused, his tone carrying a certainty etched into steel: "I, Euron Greyjoy, am never stingy when it comes to rewarding merit."
The sea breeze, carrying the embers of the campfire, swept across the beach, imprinting the phrase "never stingy" on the hearts of every new resident.
Inside the command tent of Howling Mountain Island, Youren sat quietly in the main seat, his knuckles unconsciously tapping the sea chart spread on his lap.
The three sisters of Lonely Lamp Island stood silently in the tent, their dark gray cloaks motionless, only their eyes revealing a certain ——————————————
Its inhuman milky white color gazes into the distance, beyond the reach of mortals.
Their gazes had already been drawn to the crows soaring above the lizard's horn.
After a long while, the eerie white color slowly faded from their eyes. The three women, as if sharing a single soul, spoke in turn, saying, "Snake lizard horns."
"The pirates are preparing to escape."
"I want to wait until things calm down before coming back."
Euron didn't even flinch, his voice betraying no surprise: "Let them run, don't bother with them." He raised his eyes and asked, "Anything else?"
The three sisters' voices seamlessly transitioned again: "There are a few pirates—"
—
"Hiding in rock crevices and forests"
"They only appeared on the beach after the fleet had left."
They said in unison, "They—intend to surrender."
Euron chuckled, "Then congratulations to them for making the only right choice that will allow them to survive." He pondered the escaped pirates—did they even think of coming back?
Snake Lizard Point is the most precipitous island on the north coast of Sothros. The entire island is composed of a single type of volcanic rock and is shaped like a coiled sea serpent. It is no more than fifteen miles long and only three miles wide at its widest point.
As the black silhouette of the Iron Islands fleet appeared on the horizon, the more than one hundred pirates waiting there tensed up in unison.
As the fleet slowly approached, the keel of the Zhiyuan had just touched the shallows when the more than one hundred pirates knelt down in unison, their movements so synchronized as if they had rehearsed.
The white sand beach reflected a dazzling light under the blazing sun.
The pirates raised their scimitars and longswords high, the sharp blades weaving a shimmering steel thorn in the sunlight. There were no words, no exchange of glances, only a posture of submission with blades down and hilts up, and heads bowed deeply.
The sound of the waves suddenly became exceptionally clear.
Euron's lips curled into a smile as his gaze swept over the lowered head.
"Although it's a bit later than the agreed time," Euron said calmly, "your sincerity—is still satisfactory to me."
Euron's gaze slowly swept across the entire beach and the silent jungle behind it, and he asked casually, "Lizard Horn, are you all left?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a slight commotion arose among the kneeling crowd.
One of the pirates suddenly raised his head and then trudged forward on his knees in the sand until he stopped in front of Euron's boots.
He braced himself on the ground, his voice strained with awe: "Your Excellency, Lord of the Sea Beasts, it's not like that." He swallowed hard and hurriedly explained, "The one occupying the Serpent Lizard Horn is the Serpent Fang Society; they originally had over a thousand people. But they—they all went towards Tears Island."
Euron's gaze swept over the kneeling pirates, casually pointing to the outline of Viper Keep on the distant ridge, and he said, "I accept your submission. You will temporarily be under Edwin Ramirez's command."
Euron paused, then calmly issued his first order: "Today's task is to raze that castle to the ground."
Upon hearing this, not only were the newly surrendered pirates stunned, but even the Iron Islands lords behind Euron looked astonished, exchanging puzzled glances.
In enemy territory, the first thing to do is not to fortify strongholds, but to dismantle defenses?
Euron took in everyone's reactions, raised his head slightly, and said with a hint of arrogance, "Yesterday, I thought of the Dothraki. They never build walls or fortresses on the vast plains, yet they are never afraid of any attack. Why?"
His gaze, sharp as a torch, swept over every Iron Clan warrior: "Because on the grasslands, no force can rival their scimitars!"
"From this day forward, the waters under our Iron Islands' rule will need no walls or castles for protection!"
His voice, like thunder, resounded in everyone's hearts: "For on the vast ocean, I am invincible!"
After a brief silence, like a volcanic eruption, the passion in the hearts of all the Iron People was instantly ignited, bursting out with a deafening, fanatical battle roar!
The combined sound waves caused the surrounding seawater to tremble.
"On the high seas!"
"I am invincible!!!"
