Hogwarts: Lacus doesn't want to be a witch who destroys nations.
Chapter 6 The Sorting Hat
As the train arrived at Hogwarts, Lux and Tom stopped bickering and instead packed their luggage to prepare to disembark.
The temperature in the Scottish Highlands is much lower than in London, and many young wizards felt uncomfortable with the temperature difference the moment they got off the train. Later, under the organization of some teachers, they boarded the wooden boat one by one.
The wooden boats slowly approached the castle. As the fleet entered the waterway beneath the castle, looking up, the towering castle seemed to float overhead, so enormous it was difficult to look directly at it. The new students disembarked one after another, climbing the stone steps and finally gathering in front of the massive oak gate.
After the key custodian and the hunting ground guard, Aug, counted the number of people, they raised their hands and knocked on the door.
A deep knock echoed through the cliff face, silencing the noisy crowd. The door slowly opened, and Dumbledore stood inside, his neatly combed reddish-brown beard a testament to his already astonishing achievements in magical scholarship. At this time, Dumbledore was merely the Head of Gryffindor and Professor of Transfiguration, yet his accomplishments were already remarkable.
"The Sorting Ceremony is about to begin," Dumbledore called out. "I suggest you tidy yourselves up. Remember, every house can produce outstanding wizards, and any one of you has the potential to become one of the most outstanding wizards or witches in the future, so cherish every moment you spend here!"
"Welcome to Hogwarts!"
The freshmen cheered, but soon became nervous about the upcoming college selection.
Lux noticed that the ghosts at the end of the corridor were looking at the new students with a friendly yet scrutinizing gaze.
Dumbledore pushed open the door to the banquet hall, and the young wizards filed in, entering the great hall.
Students sat around four long tables, stars twinkled on the ceiling, and thousands of candles floated in the air. A dozen teachers sat in a row at the teachers' table, with Principal Armando Dippert sitting in the center, smiling as he watched them.
The principal seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood today. The various colleges even sang school songs that were completely out of tune. They sounded terrible, but they were full of energy and the atmosphere immediately became lively.
"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hogwarts, teach us knowledge, whether we are balding old men or children with broken knees. Our minds can accept interesting things. For now our minds are empty, filled with air, dead flies and trivialities. Teach us some valuable knowledge, give us back what we have forgotten. You only need to do your best, and leave the rest to us. We will study hard until we turn to dust."
After the school song ended, Dumbledore explained the Sorting Hat and other related matters, then had the new students line up on the platform. He then took out a worn-out pointed hat and placed it on the four stools. Just as everyone was waiting, the hat suddenly split open and then roared at the top of its lungs.
"Yo ho! Another year, new faces! I'm your old friend, and this hat thinks differently! Don't let my age and tattered appearance fool you; I'm full of wisdom... Hurry up and put it on! Don't dawdle! Let me tell you which side you belong to: Brave Gryffindor! Your fire burns bright! Faithful Hufflepuff! Kindest of hearts! Honest and hardworking, unafraid of sweat! Ravenclaw is calling, with intellect as your passion! Scrolls and stars, mysteries await your discovery! Perhaps Slytherin? Cleverness is in your nature! Ambition will guide you, and your aspirations reach the highest peak!... Come, put me on! Don't be afraid! Don't tremble! For I am the thinking hat!"
After the Sorting Hat sang a different, cheesy song with forced rhymes every year, the young wizards began to put on the Sorting Hat one by one.
"The order in which people come up is alphabetical by the first letter of their names. Now, when I call someone's name, that person should put on their hat, sit on the stool, and await the Sorting," said Dumbledore.
"Gryffindor!"
"Hufflepuff!"
"Ravenclaw!"
"Slytherin!"
…………
"Laksana Crown Guard!"
Finally, it was my turn, although the wait wasn't that long.
Lux straightened her clothes and prepared to go on stage, but the mission interface popped up on its own.
Main Quest: Join any of the following houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin.
[Rewards will vary depending on the institution you join]
Gryffindor: Adds Happy Hour (Keg) to their passive ability.
[Ravenclaw: Arcane Specialization (Ryze) added to passive ability]
Hufflepuff: Add the ability to block and parry (as a cat) to its passive skill.
[Slytherin: Backstab (The Joker) added to passive skill]
Lux's eyes sharpened. Was there something wrong with this reward?
How could I possibly learn the skills of a square-toed, sunny, and cheerful young man?
And what about the magic cat's skills? Does she have to ride on someone's head to trigger them?
Will we be able to learn how to create "Scare Boxes" in the future, so that when Lux hits one, she generates three cheerful boxes and triggers laughter?
Lux sat down in the chair with a heavy heart, and Dumbledore placed the Sorting Hat on her head.
This big hat doesn't add any power.
"What a shrewd and self-serving little wizard! You're going, Sly..."
Lux gripped the Sorting Hat with both hands, almost tearing it to shreds.
Sensing something was terribly wrong, the Sorting Hat even felt a palpable killing intent emanating from beneath its brim; the huge word "death" seemed to be right before its eyes.
"Ravenclaw Ravenclaw Ravenclaw Ravenclaw Ravenclaw Ravenclaw..." Lux murmured, trying to persuade the clueless Sorting Hat.
The Sorting Hat reflected on its first half of life as Godric Gryffindor's hat, reminding itself that it should be brave and fearless.
The life of a Hat should be lived in such a way that when a Hat looks back on its past, it will not regret wasting its years, nor be ashamed of having accomplished nothing; so that when the Hat is about to die, it can say that it has dedicated its entire life and all its energy to the most precious cause of its life—sorting students for Hogwarts.
"Gryffindor!"
The Sorting Hat knows how to compromise. Since Lacus doesn't want to go to Slytherin, but Ravenclaw is clearly not a good fit for this girl who has no thirst for knowledge, then Gryffindor should step in.
Godric Gryffindor will understand himself.
"Ah! I don't want to become square-toed!" Lux was a little frantic, but Dumbledore just smiled and used his wand to send Lux back to her place to prevent her from tearing the Sorting Hat to shreds.
The Gryffindor students stood up and applauded Lacus. The upperclassmen who were seated at the table also stood up and applauded as their new students approached the long table. They all had smiles on their faces, and although some of them may not have been handsome or beautiful, they were full of the sincerity and curiosity of the Gryffindors.
As for Tom? He's a descendant of Slytherin himself, so naturally he went to Slytherin; no one was more suitable for that place than him.
