Hogwarts: Lacus doesn't want to be a witch who destroys nations.
Chapter 19 Takeoff
"Ah—!" Abraxas screamed in terror, frantically trying to steady the broom. His body swayed violently on the broom, his platinum blonde hair was blown into a mess by the wind, and the broom handle almost slipped from his grasp. His noble demeanor was completely gone.
Tom reacted amazingly. The moment the impact occurred, his legs locked onto the broom handle like iron clamps, while his right hand shot out like lightning, trying to grab the branch of the Abraxas broom to steady himself.
However, the impact was too great. He only had time to slow down a little before he was knocked away. As the broom went out of control, Tom clearly caught a glimpse of Lux's wicked smile before the culprit ball of light disappeared.
It's her again! Lux! That damn crazy woman! She's definitely doing it on purpose! She's getting revenge!
"Riddle! Malfoy!" Lady Dutch whistled, and she rushed forward, wand already raised, ready to catch the two with a cushioning charm.
The two Slytherin elites struggled frantically and precariously for a while, less than half a meter off the ground, before barely managing to steady the two old brooms that were almost falling apart, thus avoiding a public humiliation of falling and getting bruised and battered.
Abraxas's face turned from green to red to white, his chest heaving violently, and his gaze toward Lux was filled with resentment. Tom, on the other hand, pursed his lips and his face was ashen.
At this moment, Lux, driven by the excitement of experiencing flight for the first time and the satisfaction of getting revenge, completely ignored the two murderous gazes and Ms. Dutch's stern warning whistle.
"Take off!" Lux let out a short, delighted exclamation, her voice filled with the pure joy of speed. It didn't even require conscious effort; with just a slight thought, the heavy, old broom beneath her feet sped off like a sports car.
"Whoosh—!!!"
The sound of air being torn apart was sharp and piercing. Lux shot upwards at an astonishing speed, leaving only a faint afterimage stirred by the air currents in her place.
The strong airflow instantly swept her brilliant blonde hair back, revealing her smooth, full forehead and stunningly bright blue eyes.
"Merlin!" Phoebe completely forgot to cover her mouth, her mouth agape in an "O" shape.
"She's flying! My God! That speed!" Anna jumped up excitedly.
The Gryffindor students erupted in deafening cheers and thunderous applause, leaving even the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw wizards speechless.
Ms. Dutch's expression, which was originally set to reprimand her sternly, was instantly replaced by extreme shock! She even forgot to blow her whistle to stop him, her eyes fixed on the golden figure that was rising higher and higher in the air, and she murmured, "That acceleration and the feel of the broom... he's practically a born Seeker."
"That's so cool!" A tall Hufflepuff boy couldn't help but shout, pumping his fist and blushing with excitement. "That girl rides her broom like she's riding a storm! Is this really her first time flying?!"
Lux, suspended in mid-air, listened to the gasps, exclamations, and deafening cheers from Gryffindor sweeping across the stadium like a tsunami, feeling the adrenaline surge from her lightning-fast speed.
The frustration that had been building up in my heart for two weeks was completely replaced by the joy brought by speed at this moment!
Racing is so exhilarating!
She deliberately controlled the broom, flying past Abraxas, who had just regained his footing, with disheveled hair and a face ashen as if he had swallowed a fly, and Tom, whose face was so gloomy it could wring water out of him, in an extremely beautiful and provocative low-altitude pass.
Lux's blonde hair flew wildly in the gusts of wind whipped up by the high speed of the game, her face beaming with a dazzling smile as she clearly mouthed, "If you're bad, practice more; if you can't handle losing, don't play!"
"Beep—!!!" The piercing whistle finally rang out again like a thunderclap, carrying an undeniable severity and a hint of exasperation. "Miss Lux! Land now! Immediately! You have seriously violated school rules! Exceeding speed limits! Provoking a classmate! Gryffindor deduction…"
"...Two points deducted!" Madam Dutch finally spat out this symbolic punishment, her voice rising eight octaves, "For your disregard for safety regulations! Absolutely outrageous!" She took a deep breath, as if making a huge decision, then suddenly raised her voice again, so loud it drowned out the wind and whispers on the field, ensuring everyone, especially the Slytherins, heard clearly: "But!!!"
She paused, looked around the room, and her gaze lingered for a moment on the pale-faced Abraxas and the expressionless Tom.
"Given Miss Lux's amazing talent and skill in flying, which is worthy of being recorded in the history of first-year flying at Hogwarts, and..." She glanced at Tom, who, although hit, was clearly the victim and was in good control.
"The unpleasantness caused by some students' unwarranted provocations—Gryffindor, ten points! Remember, talent is for creating miracles, not for showing off and breaking the rules. Everyone else, keep practicing! If I see anyone fly more than five feet again, they'll be locked up until Christmas!"
"Lacus!!!!" A deafening roar of joy erupted from the Gryffindor side, instantly drowning out the two points deducted. Anna, Phoebe, and Mia screamed and rushed over, excitedly hugging Lacus and jumping up and down.
"Lux is amazing!"
"You fly like a pro!"
"Ten minutes! We'll be able to fill the hourglass soon!"
There was a deathly silence on Slytherin's side. Abraxas's face turned from white to red to purple. He gripped the broom handle tightly, his knuckles white, feeling as if a loud slap had landed on his face.
Tom hovered expressionlessly at a height of one foot on his broomstick, his gaze repeatedly sweeping over Lux, who was surrounded by Gryffindor fervor.
He knew better than anyone that Lux's seemingly divinely inspired takeoff, control, and the release of that insidious orb of light were not simply a matter of talent! It was that kind of instantaneous burst of power and effortless control.
What is this "Crownguard Family" that he doesn't know about? Just how many more cards is Lux hiding?
Tom landed silently, put the broom back in its place, walked over to the dejected Abraxas, and spoke in a calm but chilling voice: "Malfoy, don't provoke her like that again. She's a pureblood too, and besides, she has amazing talent. She'll have a better chance to shine in the Mutual Aid Society."
Abraxas abruptly raised his head, spitting out a harsh threat through gritted teeth: "Just you wait, see you at the Quidditch Selection next semester! She relies on...relying on underhanded methods; let's see how arrogant she is on the real field, facing a moving ball and her opponents!"
The flight lesson ended in a mixed atmosphere of extremes. The first-year Gryffindor students were in high spirits because of Lux's performance and the bonus points. They were only 20 points away from completely erasing Lux's "historical problem"!
Slytherin was shrouded in extreme suffocation and oppression.
Lux was escorted away from the court by her excited roommates, who practically carried her. In their arms, Porolumi's little head poked out of the basket, excitedly chattering in Lux's head in a rough voice only Lux could hear:
"Hey sis! The way you flew was so cool! Can you take me with you next time? I, Lumi, want to experience what it's like to take off!"
Lux ruffled Lumi's fluffy head with a bright smile, then tossed Lumi into the air, where it thrashed wildly, apparently also afraid of heights.
