43: The Amazing Quidditch Ball
Justin's words startled Sheehan.
Unexpectedly, Justin suddenly became very enthusiastic and blurted out a lot of words like a machine shutting down:
"We could easily let the young wizards at Hogwarts see it for free first."
I'm sure everyone's already had enough of the tedious history of magic, Professor Binns's vague lectures, and those terrifyingly long papers on the history of magic!
He then said with even greater excitement:
"If the feedback is positive, we can contact a publisher to release them. Just think, students from more than one magic school need them!"
Sheen did not answer immediately; he knew that the publication and release of a book was a long process.
"The notes are not comprehensive."
Sheen said softly that he studied the history of magic only for the history of magic itself.
Even if Justin's idea is feasible to some extent, it will not change his learning progress plan.
He will complete the compilation of the history of magic according to the plan.
However, if this can generate other benefits, that would be quite good.
"Alright, alright, after you finish your notes, you have to let me try to promote and sell them among the junior wizards, right?"
Justin's voice was much softer, filled with a sincere plea.
Sheen nodded.
……
Hogwarts was much noisier than usual on Monday.
In the hallways, classrooms, and common rooms, you can always see young wizards enthusiastically discussing something.
Sheen was quite puzzled by all of this, but he didn't intend to delve into it further.
He was preparing to go to the secluded classroom.
In the corridor, Sheen suddenly heard a cough.
Looking up, I saw it was Sir Cadogan speaking.
He tied himself to straw, trying to disguise himself as a scarecrow in a beautiful oil painting of rice paddies.
But he forgot to remove his armor and his sword.
The portraits at Hogwarts often wander around, and sometimes they feel no different from the furniture.
What could be more exciting than seeing who can impersonate another portrait for the longest time?
Unfortunately, Sir Cadogan was never very good at this kind of disguise.
Imagine him imitating Mrs. Violet, sitting in her picture frame, wearing her hat and speaking loudly and comically.
It's probably similar to Professor Snape's cross-dressing.
"Cough cough—"
Sheen heard coughing again, and with a sense of helplessness, he tore off a page, wrote the five words "Sir Cadogan" in large characters, and pasted it on the portrait.
"Oh—Little Green! You've spotted me again!"
"It's so sad, why don't you go and discuss Quidditch with them!"
Sheen heard a scream.
"Oh—my dear Sir Cadogan, you couldn't even last three minutes—how pathetic! Looks like you owe me another bottle of liquor!"
Then came a teasing voice.
Sheehan turned his head in confusion; this was the second time he had heard the word Quidditch.
His doubts were quickly answered.
In the corridor, an older wizard broke through the layers of wrappings held by the younger wizards and pasted a piece of parchment with gold patterns on the notice board.
The first-year wizards cheered immediately—they were going to have their flying lesson!
This Thursday and Friday.
Sheen also had some expectations, which directly resulted in him carrying several books when he arrived at the practice room:
"Quidditch Origins", "The Amazing Quidditch Ball", "The Complete Guide to Flying Brooms", "The Flying Broom Care Manual", and "The Official Quidditch World Cup Guide".
The most well-known of these is Quidditch.
When I received this book from Mrs. Pince
Mrs. Pince also told Sheehan,
This book is practically "being carelessly flipped through every day, drooled over, and subjected to everyone's abuse."
Sheehan felt that this was a compliment for any book.
Therefore, his interest in the book grew even stronger.
"Lady Ravenclaw left behind at Hogwarts—"
"A crown, a spiral staircase, a portrait."
Sheen answered Mr. Owl's question a little too quickly and entered the classroom under Mr. Owl's angry glare.
"Sheen? What are these in your hands...?"
Justin helped carry away three books, which made Sheen's big green eyes pop out again.
"Wow! Quidditch! I heard that getting this book from Mrs. Pince is harder than climbing to heaven."
Justin gasped in surprise.
"Um?"
Sheen was somewhat puzzled.
"Because a little wizard actually used it as a pillow, and as a result, he drooled all over it."
Hermione explained, somewhat speechless.
"So, do you want to watch it together?"
Sheen placed the book on the table.
Justin's desire was barely contained; he moved his chair over first, followed by Hermione.
The three little heads huddled together like that.
Kenneth Whisp's painstaking research unveils a true treasure trove of previously unknown facts about this wizarding sport. A captivating book.
—Bahida Bagshot, author of *A History of Magic*
Opening the book, one is greeted by some introductory remarks, and the wizard who wrote the comments is Mr. Bathilda Bagshot, whom Sheen is familiar with.
Mr. Whistler has a bright future ahead of him. If he continues to work hard, one day he will have the opportunity to take a photo with me!
— Gilderoy Lockhart, author of *The Amazing Me*
This is Mr. Gilderoy Lockhart, whom Sheehan barely recognizes.
Yes, that does sound like something he would say.
So Sheen skipped this part and continued reading:
So far, wizards have not invented any spells.
It allows them to fly in human form without the aid of any tools.
Those few Animagus can enjoy the pleasure of flying, but they are extremely rare.
The wizard who transformed himself into a bat can fly freely.
However, having the heads of bats, they would surely forget where they wanted to go while flying.
Floating in the air is a common occurrence.
Our ancestors were not content with hovering only five feet above the ground; they wanted to fly higher.
They longed to fly freely like birds, but didn't want the hassle of having feathers on their bodies.
"Wow! It's Animagus. I've heard of this amazing shapeshifting ability."
Remember? Professor McGonagall was an Animagus.
Justin said in a low voice.
"And one of only seven registered Animagus individuals in the UK!"
Hermione raised her head, looking very proud.
This reminded Sheen of a passage:
Gryffindor, where courage reigns supreme, our Headmaster can transform...
Yes, that's very apt.
Then look down,
Sheen's emerald green eyes suddenly lit up.
We are now so accustomed to the fact that every wizarding family in Britain owns at least one flying broomstick that we rarely stop to ask ourselves:
Why is that?
Why would such an unassuming broom, used as a wizard's means of transportation, become a legally permitted object?
Why don't we Westerners use the flying carpets that our Eastern brothers love so much?
Why don't we bring out flying barrels, flying chairs, or flying bathtubs—why a broom?
