Douluo Continent: The Underworld Emperor Halosa Lets Three Fly

Chapter 6 Demi-Artifact: A Lament for the Underworld

After leaving Star Luo City, Harosa arrived at a small island in the sea. The Netherworld Rebirth Domain opened again. "Go and create slaughter. I need a lot of death power."

Harossa sneered, "A sea spirit beast? Just Tang San's most loyal dog, not worth pitying."

Harosa sat cross-legged in the center of the island, surrounded by a hazy mist, a thick aura of death. His eyes were closed, but his spirit was connected to the vast ocean.

The twelve undead knights, like cold killing machines, sank into the deep blue sea. They showed no breath, no fear, only the command given by Harosar: Kill!

Soon, a bloody storm brewed beneath the calm sea.

A necromancer swung his greatsword, the grey blade easily tearing through the tough scales of a ten-thousand-year-old sea spirit beast, its blood instantly staining a patch of seawater crimson. Another knight's shield slammed into the thick shell of a gigantic deep-sea turtle-like spirit beast, the terrifying force shattering the shell, and the spirit beast wailed as it sank to the bottom of the sea.

Wherever they went, whether it was a school of low-level fish or a powerful ancient sea spirit beast, they became their targets. Heavy swords slashed down, shields slammed, and their grey-blue fiery eyes scanned the dark sea, reaping lives with precision and efficiency.

With each kill, wisps of pure death energy dissipated from the fallen soul beasts. This energy did not dissipate, but was drawn by the Netherworld's Rebirth Domain, like iron filings attracted by a magnet, crossing space and converging thread by thread into Harosa's body on the island.

Harosa's soul core, especially the first one from death, was like a parched sponge encountering sweet rain, greedily absorbing this energy. He could clearly feel the power within the soul core slowly and steadily recovering and growing stronger.

The injuries inflicted by Bei Songhe and the others were gradually worn away and smoothed over by the intense power of death.

Harosa was seriously injured. No wonder the original novel said that if he could reach the level of a quasi-god fifty years earlier because of the Heavenly Favor Douluo, he probably spent half of those hundred years in seclusion healing.

"The efficiency is still not fast enough..." Harosa frowned slightly. Although the number of sea spirit beasts was huge, the speed at which the undead knights hunted them and the death power provided by a single spirit beast were a drop in the ocean for a Limit Douluo like him.

The Death Soul Core absorbs energy, initially purifying it into Death Essence. Then, the Death Essence flows into the second Soul Core—the Underworld Death Soul Core.

Here, the essence of death is further refined and transformed, merging into the primordial power of the underworld contained within the core of the soul, ultimately forming a higher and purer "pure underworld essence".

The problem lies in this conversion process. The conversion rate is extremely low; a large amount of death essence is invested, but only a very small amount of pure Netherworld energy is produced. It's like using a basket of ore to extract only a few grams of gold. The amount of death power needed to truly strengthen the Netherworld's dead soul core, and even to condense its own demigod status, is astronomical.

He recalled the plan from the original story. The Ghost Emperor, the Holy Spirit Cult, and that little fox, Qian Gu Dongfeng, colluded with the Abyss Saint King, attempting a blood sacrifice of the entire Douluo Plane. The massive death power generated by the instantaneous death of billions of lives… that was an unimaginably vast amount of energy. If it truly succeeded, it could indeed satisfy his needs, and might even help him break through to godhood.

But the merged memories made him realize with a clear head that it was a trap. In God King Tang San's script, the Abyss invasion was destined to fail, and the Holy Spirit Cult was nothing more than cannon fodder. If I got involved, I would be the one who died in the end.

How could Tang San possibly allow a child of the Douluo plane, who was not under his control and was conceived by the Douluo plane itself, to become a god by using the power of the abyss?

"Hmph, relying on others is not as good as relying on yourself." Harosa suppressed the slight tremor in his heart caused by the temptation of the enormous energy.

"If that old bastard Ghost Emperor comes looking for me again, he definitely won't be able to trick me into joining the Holy Spirit Cult without any proof."

He regained his composure and focused his attention on what was in front of him. He took out a large quantity of rare metals that he had seized from the Star Luo Tang Sect branch. These metals, piled up like a mountain, shimmered with various lusters and were top-grade materials for forging and repairing advanced battle armor and soul tools.

Harosa channeled his soul power, and pure death energy surged forth like gray flames, enveloping a portion of the rare metal. The metal began to soften and deform under the melting power of death. He manipulated this molten metal, precisely directing it towards the cracked three-word battle armor he wore.

chi chi...

Like the sound of a red-hot iron being plunged into cold water, the metal was repairing and fusing. With the addition of rare metals, the cracks in the damaged armor plates healed and disappeared at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The dim soul runes regained their grayish-white light. The entire process lasted a long time. When Harosa stopped, his battle armor, although still in the form of a three-word battle armor, was smooth as new, without any cracks, and the aura it emitted was even more refined and powerful than before.

"Finally repaired." Harosa stretched his body, feeling the powerful boost brought by the renewed battle armor.

He looked at the remaining rare metals on the ground and nodded in satisfaction: "The Tang Clan is indeed wealthy and powerful. This stockpile will last us a long time."

Then, he took out his weapon—the Underworld's Lament. The slender cross-shaped sword had a translucent gray blade, as if it were made of solidified mist, and its light was somewhat dim at this moment.

Harosa took out all the remaining rare metals and once again wrapped and smelted them with his death soul power. This time, he poured the essence of the smelted metals, along with the extremely precious "Pure Netherworld Essence" extracted from his own soul core, into the Netherworld Chant.

The sword trembled slightly, emitting a low hum. The gray sword light flickered like breathing. The essence of metal was absorbed by the sword, strengthening its basic materials; while the pure essence of the underworld merged into the sword's core, enhancing its original power and its compatibility with Haros and the laws of the underworld.

When the last trace of metallic essence and the pure essence of the underworld were completely absorbed, Harosa grasped the hilt of the sword of underworld chanting.

hum!

A gray sword intent, far more powerful and profound than before, surged into the sky, only to instantly recede back into the sword. The sword became more solid, the gray seemingly settling, exuding a restrained sense of danger. At the sword's edge, even space itself seemed to become unstable, slightly distorted.

"Peak of a semi-divine artifact... only one final opportunity is needed to become a true divine artifact." Harosa felt the power contained within the sword, a glint of light flashing in his eyes. This harvest was enormous; not only had his injuries mostly recovered, but his battle armor was also restored to its original state, and even his Netherworld Chant had been greatly enhanced.

He stood up and looked in the direction of the Star Luo Continent, his gaze seemingly piercing through space and landing on some unknown place deep within that continent.

"Next, I should go find 'Dragon Valley.' The burial ground of the dragons... The power of death there should be pure and vast enough to help me complete my final breakthrough." Harosa muttered to himself, his figure flickering and transforming into a faint gray shadow, silently merging into the sea and sky, heading towards the depths of the Star Luo Continent.

The favor of the plane's will seems to be quietly guiding him.

(P.S.: Since the original work doesn't explicitly state Harosa's martial soul, I'll assume it's the Hades Sword here.)
