From Blood Mage to Styx Ancestor

Chapter 378 Natural History and Celestial Pivot

Chapter 378 Natural History and Celestial Pivot

Just like their exteriors, the interiors of the welcoming ships are filled with luxurious gold decorations and various religious ornaments of unknown meaning.

The most common design is a radiating gold pattern, like the sun radiating its light outwards.

"This is the emblem of our order," the captain, who was leading the way, explained with a smile. "It means the divine light that enlightens us."

""

"So that's how it's set up." Modi nodded, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over the captain's face.

Like the crew around him, he had a human-like silhouette and an appearance that was not quite human.

With a hunched back, arms reaching his knees, and a protruding jaw, he resembled a hairless monkey overall.

His most striking feature is that he has no nose.

"You must have noticed it too, right?" The captain without a nose noticed his gaze and said with a smile, "Our entire civilization is not composed of a single species."

"Indeed," Mordy said. "May I know the reason?"

"Of course, that's no secret."

The captain without a nose said heartily, "Speaking of this, we must mention our faith—the Holy Light."

"In ancient times, the divine light traversed the void, radiating its brilliance so that ignorant beings might behold its holy countenance."

"Foolish creatures have been enlightened by His light, and have acquired wisdom and knowledge as well."

"They obey Him as Lord, worship His glory, and vow to follow Him for all eternity."

"He deems this good, and so He gives the light of enlightenment to our ancestors, those enlightened beings, so that they may be freed from the bondage of the earth and ascend to the stars to join with other enlightened beings."

"The enlightened beings, in order to follow His light, established a kingdom in the starry sky, which is the religious order you see now."

He recounted the origins of the order in an almost chanting tone, giving the impression that he was reciting religious scriptures.

It is also possible that this is a passage from the scriptures.

"I see." Modi suddenly realized.

He already knew how this complex cult came to be.

To put it simply, there's this bored guy called Divine Light who goes around enlightening unintelligent species, causing them to develop extraordinary intelligence before they've even evolved to the corresponding stage.

After these intelligent beings ascended to the heavens, they encountered a group of creatures in similar circumstances. They decided to form a cult in search of the divine light.

It can be said that this civilization was built on the basis of a shared belief.

Modi believed that when they first formed the cult, it probably didn't go very smoothly. Various debates and infighting in the name of faith must have lasted for a long time.

After all, there can be many interpretations of the same belief, not to mention that there are so many different species here, and these differences will inevitably lead to conflict.

But they ultimately abandoned racial prejudices, united their beliefs, and established a nation, which is still admirable.

"This is our origin, and the origin of our order. I am very happy to work with so many people of different races who share the same faith."

The captain without a nose spoke with pride, about to continue his introduction, when his expression suddenly froze, as if he had received some news. He quickly changed his words: "Your Excellency, the Pope and the Bishops' Conference have agreed to your visit. Please wait with me for a moment, the welcoming fleet will soon return to the mother world."

"Oh, thank you for your trouble." He nodded.

"It's no trouble at all, it's my pleasure to be of help."

The captain made a modest remark, maintaining impeccable manners throughout, before turning to issue the order to return to port to the fleet.

The welcoming fleet changed course and sped toward the silver-white geometric structure.

Along the way, Modi left a beacon in the void without leaving a trace, and also sent some information to the subspace.

Whether the three gods will take this information seriously is their business.

The welcoming fleet arrived at its departure point in no time.

Ships passed through the metallic, silvery-white structure without any hindrance, blending seamlessly into it.

Within the silvery-white structure lies a hidden world.

Modi, being in the midst of it all, could clearly feel that the moment these ships came into contact with the silver-white wall, their existence expanded into other dimensions.

Only in this way can they truly enter the so-called mother world.

"Multi-dimensional expansion technology?" Modi curiously poked the protective bubble in front of him. "And there's also a matching protection technology."

"Sir, this is an indispensable protection mechanism during the dimensional expansion process, please do not disable it..."

"7

Before the captain without a nose could finish speaking, Modi burst his protective bubble, and he froze on the spot.

But after a few seconds, seeing that Modi was unharmed, he couldn't help but smile wryly and said, "I forgot that you are an immortal. I was overthinking this."

"It was my own carelessness that caused this," Modi waved his hand. "However, your protective bubble technology is quite good, as it allows mortals to adapt to the expansion of dimensions."

It would be even better if we could get him to copy it back.

As the two men were talking, the fleet had already sailed to the vicinity of an airport. After confirming with the airport tower management personnel, it came to a steady stop at the airport.

"Your Excellency, we have arrived." The captain bowed slightly and gestured for them to proceed.

Coupled with his noseless monkey-like appearance, Mo Di wanted to laugh, but due to the occasion, he could only tighten his lips and make the same expression as Dali Wang and Faker.

Guided by the ship's crew, he and the captain disembarked one after the other and officially stepped onto the airport.

At first glance, he saw a group of humanoid creatures dressed in gorgeous robes, eagerly waiting on the airport.

Among this group of people were the one with pointed ears that he had first met, a monkey without a nose similar to the captain, and many more with unique appearances.

Although they are all very different, they all have one thing in common: they are generally human-shaped.

Could this be a coincidence? He was filled with doubt, but on the surface he remained calm and walked straight toward the group of people.

As he disembarked, the group of people greeted him with smiles.

"Your Excellency, we've finally met." The pointy-eared man chuckled. "I am the First Bishop Valentine of the Order, and a member of the Episcopal Conference. You may simply call me Valentine."

He stepped aside to make room for the old man behind him, allowing Modi to see him as well.

Like everyone else, the old man looked somewhat different from humans, but he was the most human-like person after Valentine.

Although the facial features are a bit abstract and the skin has a light gray hue, at least nothing is missing.

"This is the supreme leader of our order, and also the current Pope Titus."

After Valentine finished his introduction, he walked to the back, leaving the space to the Pope.

"It's an honor to meet you, Your Holiness the Pope." Mordy gave him plenty of face and showed no disrespect whatsoever.

The Holy Light Order is a powerful civilization, comparable to the Immortals. Its supreme leader represents not an individual, but the entire civilization. Therefore, Mordi treats him as an individual of the same level.

"I am also deeply honored to meet an immortal."

Pope Titus wore a kind smile, but his tone was neither humble nor arrogant.

He was a man who had seen it all, and wouldn't be intimidated by an immortal.

In fact, if he wanted, he could easily order the Order to hunt down some of the weaker immortals.

Even Modi could see this, after all, the technology they displayed had already transcended the realm of ordinary civilization.

"May I ask your name?" Titus asked.

He thought for a moment, then randomly picked one from his list of names and reported it: "Just call me Styx."

"Lord Styx, why don't we move to another place first, and then we can discuss other matters?"

"Of course, I'll leave everything to your arrangements." He agreed.

The group moved toward the edge of the airport, and before they had gone far, they saw a bubble-like film blocking the way.

Titus turned to him and explained, "This is the Order's teleportation bubble. Since the mother world has multiple dimensions, different functional buildings are generally located in different dimensions. Therefore, if you want to move between different dimensions, it is best to use teleportation."

"I understand what you mean."

Modi didn't think too much about it and walked into the teleportation bubble side by side with him.

Bubbles have no physical form, and passing through them doesn't feel real.

Suddenly, a whole new world appeared before their eyes.

This is the interior of a magnificent, religiously styled building that looks like a church, but Valentine says it is a guesthouse.

"Your religion has a very unique style, whether it's architecture or ships." Modi withdrew his gaze.

This result was not unexpected for him, after all, this was a theocratic state, or even a religion-dominated civilization.

"This is to remind our citizens who has given us wisdom and enlightenment."

Titus smiled, but his eyelids drooped slightly.

The two entered a spacious room, but only Valentine continued to follow them. The other bishops consciously stopped outside the door and did not go in.

This is an antique-style room with various oil paintings hanging on the walls, but upon closer inspection, you will find that these are not real objects, but extremely realistic projections.

They are so realistic that they can even provide substantial feedback.

"Please have a seat." The Pope, as the host, sat down first, followed by Mordred and Valentine.

"You have come from afar. Although the immortal you are looking for is not here, as the host, we should still do our best to be hospitable. Please feel free to speak your request."

Titus said with a smile, his expression still amiable.

"You're too kind, but I do have a favor to ask."

Modi didn't mince words and simply went along with what he was saying.

"Your Church's Bishop Valentine once said that the aura of immortals once lingered here. I would like to ask if your Church has preserved that aura? If so, may I have a look?"

As he spoke, he looked at Valentine beside him, who simply smiled back and nodded to the Pope.

"I see..." Titus stroked his white beard and pondered for a moment.

"Every trace left by the immortals is still a precious sample, even for us. We have naturally preserved that aura. If you really want to see it, we can certainly agree."

The Pope did not refuse; instead, he readily agreed, which was something Mordi had not expected.

He had even considered what kind of rhetoric he should use, or what kind of deal he should propose, should the Pope refuse.

Surprisingly, none of these measures were needed, and the Pope agreed immediately.

"Thank you for your generosity." Mordy found the Pope much more agreeable now.

The atmosphere eased, and the conversation between the three became much more relaxed.

They exchanged a lot of information, most of which was related to the Abyss of Death.

"I heard from that captain that your sect has always been searching for the traces of the Holy Light. So, did your sect venture deep into the Abyss of Death because you discovered traces of that being here?"

Modi suddenly asked.

Titus and Valentine exchanged a glance, and finally Titus spoke, "Yes and no."

"Oh? What does that mean?" he asked curiously.

"Let me explain," Valentine said with a wry smile, taking over the explanation from the Pope.

"Our analysis of the previous light trace indicates that it must have visited the Abyss of Death recently. As a result, our entire cult was greatly encouraged and made the decision to go to the Abyss of Death almost immediately."

"Unexpectedly, when we followed the light trail to this star system, we found that the light trail had disappeared without a trace, which was a real disappointment."

"It's too late to leave the Abyss now. The next round of the Demon God War is brewing, and the Mother World also needs time to replenish its mass, so we've stationed ourselves here and are simultaneously allowing parts of the Mother World to unfold."

Modi understood and said, "I see."

At the same time, seeds of doubt began to sprout in his heart.

The Light of Revelation appeared here, and they tracked it down to this place. But after they arrived, they claimed they had never seen the Light of Revelation. Is that really the case?

"Whether it is or not, let's take a look at the wisp of aura they've collected before making a decision," Modi thought to himself.

After chatting for a few more minutes, he looked up at the timer next to him, pretending to check the time.

The two people opposite him immediately understood his meaning upon seeing his actions.

Titus smiled, stood up, and nodded to the other two.

"It's getting late. Since we promised you we'd take you to see that aura, let's not delay and go now."

That's exactly what I think.

Modi got up and walked out of the room with him, passing through the teleportation bubble.

When they opened their eyes again, they had arrived in another dimension, in another building.

"Welcome to our museum, which we actually prefer to call 'Museum of Heaven'."

Titus turned around, his back seemingly straightening a bit, and proudly introduced to him: "This place houses many treasures collected by the Order, witnessing the entire process of the Order's establishment and rise. It can be said that this place records the history of the Order."

"If you'd like, I can show you around here, but I imagine you're more interested in seeing that aura right now, so I won't waste your time. Please come with me."
