Lord of Mysteries

Chapter 54, First Seeker

Chapter 54 The First Seeker

Seeing Klein's surprised expression, Angelica wavered slightly:

"Isn't that so? Mr. Grassis said that you could tell he had a hidden disease in his lungs just by observing him..."

She spoke softer and softer until she finally shut her mouth.

Observation? A dark spot between the eyebrows? Klein suddenly realized, shook his head and chuckled:

"I think Mr. Grassis has misunderstood."

He had intended to just give a perfunctory answer, but then he suddenly remembered that no one had asked him to do a fortune telling yesterday afternoon, which had made his role as a "fortune teller" very difficult. So, his mind raced, and he gave a brief explanation:

"This is actually a form of divination."

"Fortune telling? But Mr. Grassis only mentioned that you observed his face. Is that considered fortune telling?" Angelica asked, both surprised and puzzled.

Klein smiled calmly:

"As a member of a fortune-telling club, you should know about palmistry, right?"

Palmistry is not a patent of the Great Food Empire. Even on Earth, India and old Europe have each developed their own theories, not to mention today's world with its extraordinary power.

"I know, but you didn't seem to read his palm, did you? Did you observe him secretly?" Angelica asked curiously.

"I read faces," Klein said fabricatedly. "The principles behind it are not fundamentally different from those of palmistry."

"Really?" Angelica's eyes were full of disbelief.

Klein chuckled lightly, pretending to be deep in thought, and tapped his brow twice with his hand, all for the sake of developing his "diviner" business.

Looking closely, Angelica's aura was reflected in his eyes: her head was purple, her hands and feet were red, and her throat was blue... There was nothing wrong with her health, but the colors were slightly dull, which was a normal sign of fatigue.

Klein then observed the other person's emotions and saw that the orange hue was mixed with a touch of red and blue, that is, a warmth tinged with excitement and contemplation.

Fortunately... finding that there was nothing unusual, Klein was about to shut down his spiritual vision when he suddenly saw a deep, dark shadow hidden in Angelica's emotional expression.

"Moreover, she also lacks a bit of the positive and optimistic spirit of the white..." Klein nodded thoughtfully.

"Mr. Moretti, are you looking at my face?" Angelica noticed that the young gentleman in the black suit in front of her had suddenly fallen silent and was carefully examining her. She sensed something and asked, half curious and half worried.

Klein didn't answer immediately, but tapped his brow again, looking as if he was intently scrutinizing something.

Just as Angelica was feeling uneasy, he spoke gently:

"Ms. Angelica, don't keep your sorrows and pains bottled up inside."

Angelica's eyes widened suddenly, and she opened her mouth, but couldn't utter a word.

She looked at Klein, who wore a top hat and had a distinctly scholarly air, and heard him speak in a deep, soothing, and warm voice:

"You need a mountain climb, a tennis match, or a sad drama to tire your body out from exercise, let your tears flow freely, and then cry, scream, and completely unleash those emotions."

"This will also be very helpful for your health."

As the words flowed gently into her ears, Angelica seemed to transform into a statue, standing there motionless.

She blinked hard, lowered her head in a panic, and said in a muffled voice:

"Thank you for your suggestion..."

"There seem to be quite a few members today?" Klein didn't say anything more, and just as if he hadn't done any divination earlier, he turned to look at the conference room at the end of the corridor.

"Sunday afternoon... at least 50 members..." Angelica's voice was still a little hoarse, and she only used a few keywords to describe the event.

She paused, then gradually resumed speaking at a normal pace:

"Would you like black tea or coffee?"

"Siberian black tea." Klein nodded slightly, politely removed his hat, and then slowly walked towards the conference room.

Angelica only let out a slow breath after he disappeared by the door.

…………

The divination club's meeting room was enormous, almost twice the size of a classroom at Klein High School.

Normally, there are only five or six members here, making it seem very empty. But now, dozens of "fortune tellers" are sitting in twos and threes in different places, filling most of the space.

Sunlight streamed in through the bay windows, where members either discussed things quietly, gathered around Haynes Vancent to ask questions, practiced their divination, or sat alone drinking coffee and reading newspapers.

This scene gave Klein a feeling of returning to his student days on Earth, only back then it was more lively and noisy, lacking this sense of tranquility.

He looked around but didn't see his two acquaintances, Grassis and Edward Steve, so he casually picked up a public divination textbook, found a corner, and leisurely began to read it.

A short while later, Angelica brought in a cup of black tea and placed it on the table in front of Klein.

Just as she was about to leave quietly, she suddenly saw Mr. Moretti take off a uniquely designed silver chain from his left sleeve, with a pure yellow crystal hanging from it.

What is he going to do? Angelica unconsciously slowed her pace and gazed at Klein.

Klein held the silver chain in his left hand and dropped the citrine straight down onto the cup of Siberian black tea, just shy of touching the surface of the liquid.

He calmly closed his eyes, and the atmosphere around him instantly became quiet.

The pure yellow crystal moved slightly, rotating clockwise along with its uniquely designed silver chain.

Seeing this, Angelica felt that Mr. Moretti was unusually mysterious.

"Your black tea is quite good," Klein said with a smile as he opened his eyes.

His actions just now were deliberate, deliberately done for Angelica's benefit!

If you want people to seek you out for divination quickly, Angelica, who is responsible for receiving and recommending you, is actually a very crucial factor!

Since he was to play the role of a "fortune teller," Klein no longer had any reservations and truly immersed himself in the identity.

"...Yes, Mr. Vanus is very particular about the quality of black tea," Angelica said, pausing for a moment.

At this moment, Klein retrieved the pendulum, rewound it, and then picked up the white patterned porcelain cup, offering a respectful toast to the other party with a smile.

…………

Angelica returned to the reception area, no longer in the mood to read magazines. She sat there, lost in thought, seemingly pondering something.

She was startled awake by a knock on the door and hurriedly looked towards the entrance, where she saw a young lady in a light blue dress.

The young lady removed her veil with a light blue ribbon, her expression calm and melancholy.

"Good afternoon, esteemed lady. Would you like to join the club or have your fortune told?" Angelica greeted her familiarly.

"I want to have my fortune told," the young lady with beautiful eyes, yet hiding a melancholy, said, biting her lip.

Angelica first invited the other party to sit on the sofa, and then gave a detailed account of the member's divination.

She fetched the catalog and handed it over, saying:

"You can choose any one of them."

The sullen young lady carefully flipped through the catalog, because there were so many members at the club today, and the selection was so vast that it made her feel overwhelmed.

"Can you recommend one? One of those on these pages." She pointed to the middle section of the booklet, omitting the fortune tellers whose prices were between 2 sous and 4 pence.

Angelica took back the catalog, looked at it for a few minutes, and then said carefully:

"I recommend this gentleman."

The uneasy young lady stared intently and discovered that it was a fortune teller named "Klein Moretti".

"...Mr. Moretti has just joined the club...is his skill level reliable?" she asked somewhat uneasily.

Angelica nodded firmly and said:

"Both a member and I can confirm that Mr. Moretti is an excellent fortune teller. He wouldn't charge such a low fee if he hadn't just joined the club."

"I understand." The melancholy young lady nodded. "Then I'll ask Mr. Moretti to do the divination."

"Okay, please wait a moment." Angelica picked up the brochure, got up, and walked towards the conference room.

She approached Klein and lowered her voice:

"Mr. Moretti, someone has asked you to do a divination. Which divination room would you like to use?"

Not bad, the first "business" has come knocking... Klein put down his teacup and nodded calmly:

"Citrine Room"

"Okay." Angelica slowly led the way and opened the wooden door of the yellow crystal room.

Klein sat down behind a table with many divination tools and waited for several seconds before a woman in a light blue dress, looking depressed and melancholy, entered.

Taking advantage of the moment when the other person turned around and closed the door, he lightly tapped his brow twice.

"The yellow color in the stomach is a bit dull... The darkness in the emotions is very heavy, mainly worry and anxiety..." Klein looked it over carefully, leaned back slightly, and raised his hand to turn off his spiritual vision.

"Hello, Mr. Moretti." The woman in the light blue dress sat down.

"Good afternoon, how should I address you?" Klein asked politely, without expecting an answer.

As a keyboard warrior, he knows that many people are unwilling to use their real names when having their fortunes told.

"You can call me Anna." The woman in the light blue dress set her veil aside and looked at Klein with a mixture of expectation and doubt. "I want to ask about my fiancé's situation. He went to the Southern Continent in March for a business deal. On the 3rd of last month, he sent a telegram to me and his family saying that he would be setting sail to return soon. However, twenty days have passed, and he still hasn't returned. At first, I thought it was due to the weather in the Raging Sea, but today, more than a month has passed, and the ship he's on, the 'Clover,' still hasn't arrived at Enmat Port."

The ocean separating the northern and southern continents is called the Raging Sea, known for its numerous natural disasters and treacherous currents. If it weren't for Emperor Roselle sending people to explore several relatively safe sea routes, the countries of the northern continent might not have been able to start the colonial era even today, let alone lay submarine cables and complete the framework of wired telegraph.

Klein looked at his first real client in his career as a "fortune teller" and cautiously asked:

Which divination method would you like to use?
