Chapter 88 Hogwarts Destroyed by Rumors

School clinic.

Dumbledore carefully examined Don's injuries.

"How is it?" Snape asked first. He suspected that Voldemort had altered Don's memories.

That was the Dark Lord's specialty.

Dumbledore shook his head slightly. "It's a very serious injury. Even if he regains consciousness, it will probably be difficult for him to fully recover in a short time."

Snape frowned slightly.

Shaking his head means that Don's memory has not been altered.

This is definitely not a good thing.

Because that would mean Voldemort had other methods up his sleeve.

Snape glanced at Dumbledore.

Voldemort's opponent this time is Dumbledore, so we must not look at Voldemort with the same old perspective.

"Albus, what exactly happened?" Professor McGonagall asked sternly.

The fact that the school's professors were attacked in the Forbidden Forest is not something that can be easily dismissed.

This time it was a professor who was attacked; next time it could be a student.

No, the students have already been attacked.

"Is it the same person who attacked Malfoy?" Professor McGonagall asked immediately afterward.

I think so.

Dumbledore did not deny it, "The castle is under great threat, and we must protect everyone in the castle."

Professor McGonagall nodded seriously. "I will inform the students not to act alone, and I will also arrange for professors to patrol the castle to ensure the students' safety."

Flitwick looked up at Dumbledore. "Any clues?"

"This time, I will take action myself." Dumbledore said no more, turned and walked out of the school infirmary.

Snape thought for a moment and then left with Dumbledore.

Principal's Office.

Snape gave a sneer. "It seems that recent events have gotten out of your control."

Dumbledore took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes wearily.

It's not that it was beyond our control, but rather that it was completely unexpected.

On the night Harry and Ron ventured into the Forbidden Forest, Dumbledore was already prepared to handle everything.

But who could have imagined...

Harry didn't even go into the Forbidden Forest.

In fact, in Dumbledore's plan, Andy was also included among the personnel in this operation.

Andy seems to have a strong sense of justice, yet he also has a personal grudge against Quirrell and is friends with Ron and Harry. Add to that the youthful passion and their curiosity about the Forbidden Forest…

For all these reasons, Andy should easily accept Harry's invitation to explore the Forbidden Forest together.

But to my surprise, Andy had no such idea at all.

"It was indeed my mistake."

Dumbledore didn't shirk responsibility, saying, "I will resolve this matter as soon as possible."

Snape frowned slightly. "You're planning to take action yourself?"

Dumbledore looked up at Snape. "What else? You go first?"

Snape averted his gaze; he had no desire to confront the Dark Lord head-on.

"You weren't originally...?" Snape asked tentatively.

After observing for more than a semester, Snape had realized Dumbledore's purpose.

Although somewhat annoyed, one has to admit that Dumbledore was right.

Dumbledore paused for a moment, then said, "Let's find another opportunity later."

Harry is still too young.

Snape glanced at Dumbledore. Since Dumbledore had decided to take action himself, Quirrell and Voldemort's defeat was already inevitable.

It seems... there's nothing to worry about anymore.

With that thought, Snape turned and left.

Dumbledore sat alone in his chair, his gaze calmly fixed on the table, yet a deep worry lingered between his brows.

If Harry doesn't grow up, then Voldemort's resurrection must be postponed.

The problem is, Dumbledore doesn't know how much longer he can hold on.

He is 110 years old.

An aging body, sluggish reactions...

Even if his magic hadn't diminished and he still possessed the Elder Wand, one of the Deathly Hallows, he wasn't sure if he still had the ability to suppress the resurrected Voldemort.

……

Ravenclaw common room.

"Last year, Malfoy was attacked, and this year, Professor Don was attacked... Do you really believe Dumbledore?"

"I heard that Professor Don was seriously injured. If he encountered a dangerous creature in the Forbidden Forest, even if he couldn't defeat it, he shouldn't have been so badly injured."

"You mean he can still run?"

"That's right! The Forbidden Forest isn't far from the castle, so the professor can run back and ask other professors for help."

"I heard that Professor Don was also attacked by dark magic."

"Who do you think attacked Malfoy and Professor Don?"

"..."

There was a lot of discussion in the lounge.

They linked the two attacks, which occurred more than four months apart, together, and various conspiracy theories emerged.

"Andy, who do you think attacked them?"

Andy's roommate, Anthony, said confidently, "It might be Harry! I heard from the Gryffindors that Harry was injured last time because he secretly went into the Forbidden Forest."

Another roommate, Terry, asked, "Who told you that?"

Michael seemed thoughtful. "You mean, Harry set a trap in the Forbidden Forest? But why would he attack Professor Don?"

Anthony shrugged and said, "Who knows! He defeated the mysterious man; maybe he's practicing some kind of dark magic."

Hermione walked over from the girls and said, "I've heard at least ten conspiracy theories, and some people are saying that Professor Snape was the one who attacked Professor Don because he always wanted to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts."

Andy: "..."

Perhaps one day, Hogwarts will be destroyed by rumors.

"Ignore them."

Andy said weakly, "The truth will come out eventually. Let's just wait patiently."

"Andy, what do you think... should we do something?" Hermione asked, sounding quite interested.

Why would you think that?

Andy looked panicked. "We're just first-year wizards. Even if we wanted to help, we'd probably only cause trouble for the professors."

Hermione rolled her eyes at Andy, annoyed. "I'm not Gryffindor, how could I possibly go and stop Quirrell all by myself?"

Andy immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

People are influenced by their environment. Hermione has spent a lot of time with Andy, so she naturally won't be as reckless as she was in the original story.

"What do you want to do?" Andy asked curiously.

Hermione stepped closer and whispered, "If Quirrell attacked Professor Don, then his hiding place has been exposed."

Andy nodded, "That's how it is."

"If he still wants to steal the Philosopher's Stone, what do you think he'll do next?" Hermione asked.

Andy shook his head. How would I know what Quirrell was thinking?

Hermione covered her mouth with her hand and said mysteriously, "Have you forgotten Malfoy?"

Andy raised an eyebrow. Malfoy?

Hermione gave her a "you're so stupid" look. "If Quirrell could hide in the Forbidden Forest, why did he attack Malfoy?"

Andy suddenly stood up!

Hermione's words reminded her that Quirrell's reason for attacking Malfoy might not be as simple as she had previously thought.
