Chapter 70 Dumbledore suddenly had a bad feeling.

"Um…"

Andy suddenly fell silent.

When Harry realizes that "it was because Dumbledore brought the Philosopher's Stone to Hogwarts that Malfoy was attacked," it might indeed cause a minor crisis of trust between the two.

But all of this is predicated on... Harry being able to realize this.

Considering Harry and Ron's intelligence, Andy had no hope whatsoever.

A roughneck can't understand roundabout ways of speaking.

But if you speak frankly, your intentions will be too obvious.

"But... this is actually for the best!" Andy thought to himself.

Andy didn't want to go against Dumbledore, and Dumbledore and Harry were indeed fighting Voldemort.

Andy couldn't possibly create a real crisis of trust between the two.

This is just a warning!

Andy doesn't like being told what to do.

Although all of this was just Andy's speculation, Andy was certain that he had been set up by Dumbledore.

Andy had thought it through carefully. The way Dumbledore tricked him into the game was so similar to the way he tricked Harry into the game!

They all work so subtly and silently.

First, they took advantage of Harry's sense of justice and courage.

Then, by taking advantage of their caution (or perhaps fear of death?) and resourcefulness (or perhaps cunning?), they could achieve their goals.

Snape had warned Andy to be careful of Quirrell, and Andy thought he was a humane person.

But when Harry and Ron came to Andy to ask about Nicolas Flamel, Andy realized something was wrong.

Looking back now, I realize I was too naive.

Imagine if Andy were just a normal little wizard. When Andy found out that someone wanted to take revenge on him, wouldn't he be terrified and live in constant fear?

When Harry and Ron bring information about the Philosopher's Stone, Andy will certainly try his best to help them in order to protect himself.

Isn't this blatantly ripping off honest people?

Dumbledore didn't even leave any evidence; it all seemed so natural.

Harry could even be said to have entered the game voluntarily!

If Andy is truly focused on protecting himself, then he will definitely "voluntarily" join the fray to help Harry fight Quirrell and Voldemort.

People get wise with age!

Andy sighed, wondering if Dumbledore had ever tricked anyone else before.

"Ron, Harry, I'm going to the library to read. Do you want to come?" Andy invited.

"Please spare us!"

Ron immediately surrendered, "I get a headache just looking at those books, I really don't know how you manage to read them."

Harry looked apologetic. "I have to go practice Quidditch later."

Andy mentally made a "V" sign.

The best way to separate from someone without hurting feelings is to invite them to do something they don't like.

"I'll be going now," Andy waved his hand.

……

Owls don't fly very fast, but it doesn't actually take long to fly from the owlhouse at Hogwarts to the headmaster's office.

Inside the headmaster's office, Snape was giving a work report.

"I've already checked Malfoy, and there are no problems."

Both Snape and Dumbledore suspected that Quirrell would return to Hogwarts through Malfoy.

On Malfoy's first day back at school, Snape secretly checked Malfoy's luggage and even called him into his office for a talk.

Unfortunately, he found nothing.

"It seems that Voldemort has become much more cautious after what happened last time," Dumbledore said calmly, as if he didn't take the matter to heart.

That tone again!

Snape considered himself fairly calm, but calmness has its limits.

After each conversation with Dumbledore, Snape needed to drink a few sips of euphoric potion to calm down.

"The Dark Lord has vanished from the castle!"

Snape felt it necessary to remind Dumbledore just how dire their situation was: "We have completely lost track of the Dark Lord, and he could attack the young wizards at any moment."

"Severus, to deal with Voldemort, we must figure out his current mental state."

Dumbledore's tone remained calm as he looked at Snape and said, "I think I've told you before that he was very good at reading people when he was in school, had good relationships with many professors, and even won over a lot of students—those were the precursors to the Death Eaters."

Snape frowned slightly upon hearing this.

Dumbledore continued, "But as Voldemort went further and further down the path of the Dark Arts and gained some power, he became arrogant and conceited."

"After ten years of barely surviving, coupled with his previous failure, Voldemort will surely become more cautious, and at the same time... he will never accept a second failure."

At this point, Dumbledore's eyes behind his glasses became much deeper.

"You mean..." Snape's expression changed drastically.

"yes!"

Dumbledore said, "If Voldemort fails again, he will retaliate fiercely against us. But until then, he will only be more careful to hide himself."

Snape glared at Dumbledore. "You should have killed Quirrell last time."

"We all know that killing Quirrell won't solve the problem."

Dumbledore met Snape's gaze calmly. "Voldemort needs to regain his power. Hagrid told me that things have been a bit unsettled in the Forbidden Forest lately."

Snape looked at Dumbledore with a strange expression. "And then you let that stupid half-giant investigate the Forbidden Forest?"

If you want to kill Hagrid, just say so. Why use someone else to do it?

Dumbledore remained silent; his inner state was not as calm as he appeared.

Being in Dumbledore's position, many of his decisions caused him inner turmoil, yet he had no choice but to make them.

This is essentially the same principle as "a kind heart cannot command an army."

Dumbledore could certainly take action directly, but as long as Voldemort didn't fight him to the death, Dumbledore would be helpless against Voldemort.

Therefore, he had no choice but to take advantage of that prophecy.

Furthermore, Dumbledore believed that ever since Harry deflected Voldemort's Killing Curse ten years ago, Harry had been a thorn in Voldemort's side.

Deng Deng Deng!

A few soft sounds suddenly broke the silence of the office.

Dumbledore and Snape turned to look and saw three owls flapping their wings outside the window, each carrying a letter in its beak.

Dumbledore waved his hand gently, and the window opened automatically.

Three owls flew around the office once and then landed on the desk.

He placed the letter from his mouth in front of Dumbledore, then stared intently at him.

Hey! Humans, it's time to feed them.

Don't think that just because you're the headmaster of Hogwarts you can break the rules. Believe me, we'll swarm you and peck you to death.

Dumbledore took out some biscuits to feed the owl, then picked up the envelope and glanced at the signature.

Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Andy Collins.

Dumbledore suddenly had a bad feeling.
