Chapter 4 Hermione and Her Two Useless Men, Part 1
"Merlin! You're at home reading again. I bet you'll be assigned to Ravenclaw. That's what my mother said too. She always hoped I could be like you."
Ron looked exaggerated, but then realized he'd misspoke and changed his tune, saying, "I'm not saying it's wrong of you, I'm saying—we haven't started school yet, have we?"
Judging from Ron's tone, it was as if he would study hard once he started school.
Although Andy had not seen the sequels to Harry Potter, he had heard from a friend that the true story of the movie was actually Hermione and her two useless men.
It's like how "The Little Fish and the Flower Without Flaws" is actually "The Survivors List".
I prefer reading books.
Andy offered a casual explanation, then invited Ron to sit on the sofa and asked, "What would you like to drink? Orange juice would be fine?"
"certainly!"
Ron said enthusiastically, "How about we go play Quidditch later? I brought a broom and wrote to Charlie to learn a lot of tips."
"You said the same thing last time," Andy shrugged.
Andy actually understands Ron quite well.
Born in the wizarding world, Ron had few friends his own age and couldn't visit Muggle villages, so his life, though leisurely, was actually quite boring.
However, Andy really enjoys life in the wizarding world.
Here, you can be close to nature, live without pressure, and be free to do whatever you like.
Most importantly, there is magical power here.
Think back to your past life.
In his previous life, technology was advanced and life was quite comfortable. However, Andy had a busy work schedule every day, and working overtime became the norm. He often felt the heavy pressure of life.
Well, perhaps Andy's childhood gave him this misconception.
"That was an accident last time!"
Making excuses for one's failure is something most people do, and Ron is a prime example. "Just watch, I won't let you score another goal this time."
"Isabel!"
Andy called out, and the little girl, wearing slippers, came running over, her cheeks puffed out, and angrily said, "You stinky Andy, where did you hide my snacks?"
"You'll have to find it yourself; it's going to be a great adventure."
Andy gave a perfunctory reply, then said, "Ron and I are going to play Quidditch, do you want to come?"
"Of course!" The little girl's attention was immediately diverted.
Ron looked at Andy with admiration: "You're really amazing. If I did that, my mom would kill me."
Andy rolled his eyes. That's because Ginny is the only girl in your family.
To be honest, the wizarding world is somewhat sexist. Of course, this is because the wizarding world's society is still relatively underdeveloped.
After finishing his orange juice, Andy said, "Let's go."
Although Ron's arrival interrupted Andy's reading time, as a psychologically mature adult, Andy rarely lost patience with children.
Unless the child has committed a serious mistake.
And Andy didn't want to appear too unconventional.
Having a friend at least puts Kyle and Helen at ease.
The Quidditch pitch was built by adult wizards in the neighborhood. It's not very tall, but it's big enough for the young wizards to play in.
As expected, Ron suffered another crushing defeat at the hands of Andy.
Ron's skills are actually pretty good, especially since Andy doesn't usually play Quidditch, so the two are about evenly matched.
However, Ron has a fatal weakness: his mental fortitude is too fragile. Whenever he is at a disadvantage, he easily loses confidence and collapses at the slightest provocation.
Although Andy understood this, he did not try to comfort Ron.
Children hate being lectured by their peers, especially when their shortcomings are pointed out—even if the peers mean well.
Hermione was isolated in the original book for this very reason, and Andy would certainly not do it knowingly.
"Ron, it's almost noon, come to my house for lunch!"
"Thank you, but my mom tells me I have to go back at noon."
"Alright then! I'll bring Isabel to visit Mrs. Weasley in a few days."
"Hey! My mom's going to be ecstatic. I mean, she really likes you."
After saying goodbye to Ron, Andy gave himself a thumbs up for his smooth talk.
See, with just a few words, he prevented Ron from coming to him again for the next few days, and he was even happy about it.
Flying home with the little girl, Helen was already preparing lunch.
"Mom, how's the potion brewing going?"
"It will take a month."
"This is a big deal!"
Ordinary potions can usually be made in a few hours, but they are also very cheap. Potions that take many days to brew are usually ridiculously expensive.
"Keep it a secret." Helen knew Andy was always very smart and mature, but she still carefully reminded him.
"Is it a compound decoction?" Andy asked in a low voice.
Helen gave Andy a knowing look.
Andy decided to keep a close eye on the Daily Prophet a month from now, because the guy who bought the Compound Elixir might just make headlines.
After lunch, Helen, who had finished the preliminary work on the potion, had some free time, which meant that poor Isabel would lose her freedom for an afternoon.
The little girl looked at Andy with anticipation.
Perhaps for the little girl, searching for the snacks her brother hid will be the most fun game of her entire childhood.
Andy ignored the little girl's pleas for help; he didn't want to get himself involved.
Upon entering the study, Andy's gaze swept across the bookshelves, searching for the magic books he could currently read.
"I really hope I can get my own magic wand soon."
Having read almost all the books available, Andy pulled out the book he had been reading that morning, "The Development of Ancient Magic Research," and turned to the chapter about the Obscurus.
According to Andy's understanding, the power difference between adult wizards isn't that significant. Just like Muggles fighting hand-to-hand, there will be differences, but it's never as outrageous as the difference between an ordinary person and a superhuman.
Perhaps Voldemort and Dumbledore are exceptions?
"But how exactly did this gap widen?"
This wasn't the first time Andy had thought about this question; it was clearly not in the books, otherwise those ancient and prestigious magic families would have long since set themselves apart from ordinary wizards.
However, the truth is that the difference between wizards is actually the same as that between Muggles; it's not based on ability, but on money.
"Perhaps... there are records in books about how to improve one's strength, but... they are very subtle?"
"Just like the records about the Obscurus."
A normal wizard who reads about Obscurians would definitely think that such a thing is very terrifying, and at the same time, would think, "Thank goodness I didn't become an Obscurian."
However, the very existence of the silent undoubtedly proves the possibility of the fusion of spiritual power and magic.
"Perhaps I should reread these magic books and look for those little details that were mentioned but overlooked."
