My Pokémon Story of Seasons
Chapter 2 Cooking
Although she had a general understanding of the function of the gold finger, Tong Hua was unable to start experimenting immediately due to some technical difficulties.
After all, Tong Hua had never learned alchemy, so how could he possibly use it in reality?
Carrying a full bucket of well water back to the cabin, Tong Hua decided to clean up the place where she would stay for the night first.
After solving the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, and transportation, then we can consider how to use this cheat code.
After sprinkling water all over the house, Tong Hua took out a rag from the tool bag left by the old village chief and wiped the bed and the wooden table where things were placed clean. Then she began to sort through the original owner's sack of belongings.
The bag contained not much: a few clean sets of clothes, a few bottles of seasoning, a few packets of noodles, some ingredients, and a neatly folded stack of banknotes.
And most importantly, the six red and white balls.
"I almost forgot about you guys." Tong Hua took out the Poké Balls, only two of which contained Pokémon, the starter Pokémon his original parents had prepared for him.
These are Torkoal, one of the Grass-type starter Pokémon from the Sinnoh region, and Squirtle from the Unova region.
"Come out."
The two Pokémon had spent the night in the Poké Ball, and as soon as they came out, they couldn't help but stretch their bodies.
"Trembling!" The tiny, adorable foam squirrel's face fell instantly when it saw the dusty environment around it.
Its fluffy tail dragged on the ground as it instinctively began to clean itself.
"Game?" The grass turtle looked rather simple-minded, looking around blankly, touching this and that with its vine whip.
The tender shoots on his head looked a bit yellow, and the mud and shell on his back were a bit dry. He was probably thirsty because of the lack of water, so he climbed straight onto the wooden bucket next to him and started drinking the well water inside.
Looking at the two adorable little ones, Tong Hua recalled the original owner's experiences and couldn't help but feel regretful again.
"If I hadn't traveled through time, these two little guys would have lost their owner." Thinking of this, Tong Hua felt even more that she should live a good life now, at least to ensure that the two little guys could live happily.
"However, judging from the original owner's age, these two Pokémon should have been raised by the original owner for a long time."
"It's understandable that Bubble Squirrel needs a Light Stone to evolve, but why hasn't Turtwig evolved yet?"
Looking at the shiny baby turtle in front of me, it was clearly well-raised, and I couldn't see any problems.
After much thought, Tong Hua concluded that the original owner of this body probably had no intention of becoming a Pokémon Trainer after losing her parents. Therefore, she didn't continue to train the two Pokémon for battle, but simply treated them as pets and family members.
Ultimately, the original owner of this body always believed that his desire to become a trainer was the reason his parents died in an accident. This feeling of guilt became his eternal nightmare…
"Terrible." "Game."
Seeing that Tong Hua wasn't as affectionate as usual, the two Pokémon came over on their own, one climbing onto Tong Hua's shoulder and the other rubbing against Tong Hua's trouser leg.
"Gurgle—!"
Suddenly, a gurgling sound echoed from inside the wooden house.
Tong Hua then came to her senses and looked at the two Pokémon, saying, "Ah, sorry. You haven't had breakfast yet, have you? It's almost noon. I'll cook something now."
Tong Hua picked up a rag and ran into the kitchen to wipe the cutting board and stove. To be fair, although the cabin was old, it was still fully equipped. Pots, pans, and utensils were all available, and there were even tableware in the cupboards.
Pour a basin of well water into the pot, then use the firewood you just collected to start a fire in the stove, and you can boil the water.
"By the way, does this count as processing?" Tong Hua suddenly remembered the introduction about well water that she had seen before, which seemed to say that it could be boiled and drunk, and there were also suggestions for using it in cooking.
"Cooking... seems to be the easiest way to prepare food right now. Let's give it a try."
Tong Hua picked up a bag of noodles from the burlap sack, opened the package, and was surprised to find a familiar control panel.
[A handful of noodles: Quality E, a barely filling staple food; it is recommended to prepare it with nutritious ingredients. Recommended preparation methods (cooking/alchemy).]
"This will work?"
So, taking it out of the packaging bag counts as having been collected. Tong Hua then picked up the tomatoes that had been prepared nearby, but no panel was displayed.
However, after cutting it into pieces with a knife, the control panel reappeared.
[Tomato chunks: Quality E, a nutritious vegetable. Recommended processing methods (cooking/alchemy).]
Sure enough, Tong Hua gained a deeper understanding of her own "golden touch".
"If the material is not obtained by yourself, it must be processed before you can see the processed material panel."
Just like this tomato, it was bought from the market by the original owner yesterday, not picked by Tong Hua herself from the garden. Therefore, the cheat system doesn't display a panel for tomatoes, but only shows information for the pieces that Tong Hua processed herself.
Once the water in the pot boiled, Tong Hua skillfully added noodles, followed by chopped tomatoes, seasonings, and an egg.
Yes, the Pokémon world also has ordinary animals just like those on Earth, such as chickens, ducks, cows, and sheep. Most of the meat and eggs that humans eat come from these animals.
However, these animals cannot fight against wild Pokémon in the wild, and currently they can only be seen in various ranches and zoos.
Smoke billowed from the chimney outside the wooden house, and a few minutes later, the entire house was filled with a fragrant aroma as steaming hot soup noodles were served.
[Tomato and Egg Noodles: Quality E, low-grade dish. A bland, boiled noodle dish. Due to improper preparation, only some of the nutritional value of the ingredients is retained. It can only be used to fill the stomach, providing the bare minimum of necessary nutrition.]
[Review: It's edible, but the nutrition is somewhat unbalanced.]
Recommended processing method (alchemy).
"Is this never going to end? You can even use tomato and egg noodles to make gold?"
Tong Hua's eyebrows twitched, and he was speechless. Alchemy was just too versatile, wasn't it?
So you can really use anything to make gold?
But what if the cooking method went wrong? Could it be that the heat was not right?
Tong Hua served himself and his two Pokémon a bowl of noodle soup, and then sat down at the table with his Pokémon to eat.
"I'm starting to eat."
Foam Chipmunk imitated Tong Hua by picking up chopsticks and slurping them up.
The grass turtle, lacking nimble fingers, buried its entire face in the bowl and began to eat heartily.
"Hmm..." After tasting it, Tong Hua immediately felt that the golden finger's evaluation was extremely accurate.
"It tastes good, but it doesn't really have much flavor..."
Foam Squirrel and Turtwig didn't find the food bland at all. Watching the two Pokémon wolf down their food, Tong Hua felt a pang of sympathy.
Look how hungry the child is, even a simple boiled noodle dish tastes so delicious to him...
If she were on Earth, Tong Hua would never voluntarily eat noodles unless she was starving.
Life is but 30,000 days, and the total number of meals we eat each day is less than 100,000. To have to force myself to eat noodles a few times is truly disheartening...
After lunch, the two Pokémon helped Tong Hua wash all the pots and pans. The two little guys had quite a big appetite; of the huge pot of noodles, only a small portion was finished by Tong Hua.
After eating and drinking their fill, the three continued cleaning. Foam Squirrel was in charge of cleaning the various corners, while Grass Turtle and Tong Hua wiped everything down with a rag.
After cleaning the interior of the wooden house, the three of them used the tools left by the old village chief to clear the weeds and rocks outside.
After a busy afternoon, we finally managed to clear the road in front of the door.
As dusk fell, Tong Hua stood outside the wooden house, watching the sunset cast its light on her future home, and suddenly grinned.
"Running a ranch in the Pokémon world...not bad!"
"Tear!" "Game!" The two Pokémon stood at Tong Hua's feet, looking at the results of their hard work cleaning, and cheered together, holding hands.
"Gurgle—!"
The cries of hunger rang out again, and Tong Hua and the two little ones laughed even louder.
"Alright, what's done is done... Let's eat first!"
Tong Hua was filled with anticipation, wondering what quality her cooking would achieve this time.
