Chapter 996 Emperor Thanos

Peter arrived at this battle zone called New Sandar, where everyone is a rising star. The most terrified people were not others, but the members of the Illuminati, especially Mr. Fantastic, who was driven to madness when he saw Peter emerge from it.

This is meant to open a portal so we can escape! Not to summon you here! What are you, Spider-Man, doing here to fight the cosmic emperor Thanos?!

"How did you get out of there?!"

Peter turned around innocently to look at the portal he had closed: "I opened it—of course I can come out!"

Peter wasn't quite sure what Reed was going to say, and Reed froze after hearing it. This meant his device was completely useless and hadn't opened a stable portal at all.

However, it wasn't entirely useless. At least during his repeated adjustments, Peter's spider senses were beeping so loudly that he initially thought the Web of Fate was malfunctioning and considered contacting the Beyonder to explain the situation. But upon closer inspection, he discovered the target was in the Battle Realm, and it was Reed from his own universe who was responsible.

So he came over to take a look.

Then he saw the elderly Thanos over there. He asked Reed uncertainly, "Wait, doesn't this old man have a henchman, a talkative, neurotic Ghost Rider with a glass jar on his head?"

Upon hearing this, Reed paused for a moment, then nodded: "Do you know him?"

"I'd rather never have known them."

Peter muttered to himself. Of course he recognized him, though he didn't know the cosmic designation. But his story was famous. This was Thanos from a possible future of 616, in which Thanos wiped out almost all life in the universe, leaving only a Ghost Rider and a creature called Hoo, who was kept as a pet dog and a corpse disposal device.

This cosmic Ghost Rider is actually the Punisher. After Earth's destruction, in order to fight Thanos, he first became the Ghost Rider, selling his soul to Mephisto, and then became Galactus's messenger. Together with Galactus, he went to resist the tyranny of Emperor Thanos. Then Galactus was defeated by Emperor Thanos in one move, adding another chapter to the purple trash can's glorious record.

As for the Cosmic Ghost Rider, it's unclear whether he's lost his mind or given up on himself, but in any case, he became Thanos's servant and turned into a chatterbox, completely unlike the Punisher Frank Caesar.

Reed saw that Peter recognized Thanos and breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that the two were acquaintances and could exchange words. But then he saw a powerful laser beam erupt from Thanos's hand, which Peter blocked with his bare hands.

"I suspect I didn't even wake up, otherwise how could I have witnessed such an abstract scene?"

Tony, having gotten up, looked around. Thanos had wiped out almost the entire insect swarm, leaving only Peter, flying through the air, and Thanos, hands behind his back, locked in a standoff. Strange, covered in dust, approached Tony: "He's gained some kind of powerful cosmic energy, almost omniscient. I feel like I've seen similar energy somewhere before—like he's had something similar before—"

"It's not just a form of energy; it also possesses its own thoughts—"

The professor, whose whereabouts were unknown, delivered a sharp commentary via telepathy. However, the only one who knew the situation was Reed, who had witnessed Peter Parker as Captain Universe fighting with a zombie Sentinel in the zombie universe: "That's the power of Captain Universe, or some kind of mysterious power, like the God of Light or something. It's a mysterious force that exists in every universe. Spider-Man was once the host of that mysterious power in the zombie universe. Maybe he switched it from the menu?"

Black Bolt remained silent, but Black Panther, who had rushed over, asked another crucial question: "Could Captain Universe defeat that alien?"

The group looked at each other, unsure of the answer.

Peter flew to Emperor Thanos and saw a broken scepter on the ground. If he remembered correctly, this was the device the Annihilation King used to control the insect swarm. Since it was broken here, the King was probably doomed.

"The power of unification—I have seen its host. As for you, I have killed you on Earth, and neither of us can stop me."

"However, the amount of power that different hosts can unleash varies. I'm not bragging, but most universe captains aren't as suitable as me. This is my third time serving as a universe captain, and each time it's in a different universe."

After Peter finished speaking, he continued looking at Emperor Thanos: "And even if you're powerful enough to defeat Captain Universe, there are things you can't fight. Otherwise, you wouldn't need to participate in the Secret Wars, would you?"

Thanos remained smiling and silent, while Peter dodged the attack launched by the Cosmic Ghost Rider from an unknown location in a flash, then reappeared. His arrival was certainly not simply to provoke Thanos or buy time for the Illuminati to escape.

At least he could guarantee that Thanos wouldn't be able to stop him when he ran away.

"It seems you have a request?"

"It's not a request, it's more like shifting the blame to someone more difficult to deal with, or vice versa."

After Peter finished speaking, he looked at Emperor Thanos: "There is a force in a certain place that has already obtained the Cosmic Cube, and no matter how strong you are, you are no match for the Cosmic Cube, are you? I can tell you who got the Cosmic Cube."

Peter then adopted the Wittrum pose, moving closer to Tony and the others while still facing Thanos, and then whispered, "Go! Go now!"

Strange didn't dare to delay and quickly opened a portal to leave. Thanos, the Emperor, simply shook his head, indicating to the Cosmic Ghost Rider to remember to clean up this wretched place.

A while later, accompanied by a cloud of green smoke, an old figure appeared. If Peter were here, he would recognize this person as Loki, the king from the same universe as his father Thor, whom he had met before.

"It seems the situation is even more urgent than I told you, Lord Thanos."

King Loki laughed: "Then, would you be so kind as to accept the invitation from the organization 'Master of Evil in the Multiverse'?"
