Chapter 966 God is dead, the gods have come
On the streets of St. Petersburg, Maximus, the leader of the Inhumans, dressed like an ancient Slavic priest, stood in the street delivering his incomprehensible speech. Around him stood a group of Inhuman guards, who also seemed unable to comprehend Maximus's thought process.
"My Slavic Aryan brothers! My fellow countrymen from Hyperpovia! Today, I want to tell you the truth! We are Slavic Aryans! We were born in faraway Hyperpovia, a heavenly kingdom! It's on the moon, and I can still remember our wonderful life there!"
"We came to earth, we conquered Palestine, we originated there, we Slavs are the purest Aryans! And that little mustache, like that damned Magneto, is a despicable Jewish mutant! They call themselves Aryans to try and steal our culture! Our bloodline!"
"The Jewish mutants are essentially descendants of evil alien beings! These monsters called lizardmen have green skin and can transform into anyone. They infiltrated Earth and, through intermarriage with gorillas and baboons, gave birth to the evil Jewish mutants. These evil mutants then created the evil Abrahamic monotheism! They are trying to destroy our religion, our clothing and language, and make us forget everything about us Slavic Aryans."
"But I still remember!"
Passersby stopped to look at Maximus as he gesticulated wildly and made grand pronouncements, listening incredulously to his boastful words. Did this guy even know the logic behind his words? Could he even make sense of them himself?
"The evil Jewish mutants founded the Freemasons, the Illuminati, and the Rothschild family to rule the world. To resist them, the ancient Slavic Aryan space empire built the Great Wall in the east to defend against the enemy in the south! But the evil lizardmen descendants seduced the Rurik royal family with their green skin, defiling the pure bloodline of the Slavic Aryans! And then they used the evil Romanov family to destroy us."
"But today," Maximus raised his hand, "I'm saying, it's all over!"
"Do you all remember Yuri Gagarin? The great Gagarin was an outstanding representative of the Slavic Aryans. He was the first to conquer space, proving the racial superiority of the Slavic Aryans! He once proudly declared that he looked around in space and did not see God or angels, which proves that the evil Abrahamic religion is nothing but a lie!"
Overcome with emotion, Maximus's eyes welled with tears, and he even began to gesticulate wildly: "But if Gagarin had lingered in space for just a moment longer, he would have seen our great Slavic Aryan father! The great god Peren is watching over us!"
"He's here!"
It all started with a bolt of lightning from the sky. A god wearing chainmail and wielding a giant axe descended from the heavens with his people and army. Behind him were the Slavic gods Chernoberg, Veles, and Belobberg. This great army of gods descended from the sky and landed in front of Maximus.
At this point, the opinions of the onlookers changed. Had the great god Peren really descended? Could it be that what Maximus said was true?
Immediately afterward, Peren stretched out his hand, pulled a man over, and threw him to the ground. The man then transformed into a grotesque figure with pointed ears and green skin, causing the actors who had been lying in wait nearby to scream, "It's a lizard man! Maximus was telling the truth!"
Of course, those were actually Skrulls from other regions who had come to spy on them. Maximus didn't actually know their name, so he called them lizardmen. But none of that matters. The important point is that "what Maximus said is true," or rather, "some of what Maximus said is correct."
For example, if the great god Peron and the Slavic pantheon really did descend, Peron himself would be a father-level being comparable to Odin and Zeus, and would be an extremely rare high-end combat force in the fighting world. As things stand, they are indeed very likely to be able to overthrow Magneto's rule.
On the other hand, the discovery of the Skrulls undeniably proves the existence of an alien threat capable of freely altering themselves, which increases Maximus's credibility. As for whether what he said is actually true...
As someone who wasn't great once said, a lie repeated a thousand times becomes the truth even if it's not true.
Maximus knelt beside Peren with utmost respect, offering his loyalty. At that very moment, St. Petersburg was fully engaged in responding to the attack of Apocalypse. Another, even more powerful being from the Apocalypse era had led his army into battle and was currently fighting Magneto.
Meanwhile, Charles Xavier's students, leveraging their school's student body and their usual influence in factories and farms, have instigated strikes by workers and farmers. The X-Avengers have been dispatched to eliminate Stryker, and Magneto's entire focus is now on dealing with these three forces; nobody cares about Maximus.
Or rather, since Black Bolt's death, no one thought Maximus could accomplish anything. Even Stryker managed to get his hands on a large amount of Terrigen Mist, showing that this stuff wasn't exclusive to the Inhumans anymore.
But it was precisely this underestimation that led Maximus to actually summon what could be described as the most powerful reinforcements and prepare for the battle.
"Now, let us wage holy war against Abrahamic monotheism! Tell everyone that God is dead, and the gods have come!"
Maximus stood up and let out a roar, causing a large amount of Terrigen mist to surge out. Then Peren swung his battle axe, scattering the Terrigen mist in all directions.
"Go and destroy the evil mutants! Reclaim the glory of us Slavic Aryans! Charge!"
The mutants among the onlookers, caught off guard, were directly poisoned by the Terrigen Mist reacting with the air and quickly collapsed. Magneto's well-protected army rushed in from afar, and then Perron raised his battle axe, his body crackling with lightning, before bringing it down heavily.
The distant palace was cleaved in two from mid-air, and all the guards in the path, clad in armor, were reduced to a bloody mist. Then, everyone heard Peren's furious roar: "Have faith in your gods!"
In the silence, the first non-mutant onlooker raised his hand and voiced his approval.
"Long live the Slavic Aryans!"
