Chapter 959 Ning Lu Revisited
Chapter 959 Ning Lu Revisited
Peter and his men arrived rather late. After all, they didn't know where Stryker's base was. They were able to find it entirely by analyzing the flight data of the Blackbird fighters. By the time they arrived, almost the entire X-Avengers had been wiped out.
Nimrod smashed the Avenger without her hammer into a bloody mist, so much so that Peter and his team were unaware of her existence when they arrived. Red Widow and Hawkeye were likely killed by the Deadpool army; Peter didn't even see their bodies. The Deadpools finished their job and ran off.
Black Ant was killed by Weapon VII, while Weapon X actually killed Green Bomb—that's outrageous. Although combat power cannot be generalized across parallel universes, it's still extremely rare for a parallel universe's Hulk to be killed by Wolverine.
The only survivor in this universe is the Russian version of Iron Man, "Iron Oligarch," who fights while letting out desperate screams: "Are all the cyborgs Stryker invented monsters?!"
"Is all Stryker can do is modify me?" the young Wolverine couldn't help but complain. That weapon X looked exactly like Wolverine. Meanwhile, Old Wolf, who was watching from the side, calmly added, "A leopard can't change its spots."
Iliana, watching Weapon VII besieging the Steel Oligarchs, looked at Peter and asked, "Was that you again?"
"It's possible—I haven't thought about having a variant of Weapon X, although my spider abilities do come from the Weapon Expansion Program."
Peter moved closer, though he didn't intend to cause too much damage if possible. For example, while the Steel Oligarchs might seem deserving of death (in fact, their name itself is deserving of death), Weapon X and Weapon VIII are essentially just pitiful victims persecuted by Stryker; they are worth trying to win over.
As for how to win it over, of course it depends on the professor.
As Peter and his companion approached, the professor used his abilities to enter their minds, almost forcibly halting their actions. While sensing their thoughts, he said, "These brains are so—empty. Everything about them has been artificially erased. They've completely forgotten who they are. This is outrageous!"
"Without a doubt, Stryker doesn't intend to treat these people as human beings at all; he only needs weapons."
Peter approached the battlefield as he spoke. The professor had come alone, without anyone else. According to him, his students were responsible for "more important parts" and had already gone to St. Petersburg.
But the professor's expression suddenly changed, and he sternly warned Peter, "Watch out!"
"What happened?"
"Their brains are a bit off, like—"
"It's like receiving orders and becoming a puppet. That's the original intention of the weapons research project: a completely controlled artificial weapon, not some potential threat with the potential for self-awakening."
William Stryker, wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses, stepped out of the bunker and looked at the others: "This should be your final and best fate as mutants. To become weapons and tools."
"That's not Stryker."
Sensing this, the professor's expression became even more serious: "That's a—I don't know what it is, it doesn't have its own thoughts, it might not be a living being."
"Not a living being?"
Peter paused for a moment upon hearing this, then looked at the other man, and a bold idea struck him: "Hey, Nimrod, have you fixed your logical fallacy? Have you thought about what you'd do if mutants went extinct?"
Then, to everyone's astonishment, Stryker seemed to freeze for a moment, before instantly transforming into a pinkish-white metallic giant over two meters tall. Nimrod looked at Peter and then posed his own question: [Question: This system has never had any contact with the target.]
"Ah, of course, my world wasn't destroyed because you didn't wipe it out. I guess you come from a future world from the past. You successfully closed the timeline, wiped out all the mutants, and then lost your reason for existence. And then the world probably just ended like that—"
Peter uttered a completely illogical paradox: "So Nimrod's success is tantamount to the destruction of the world, man."
This is completely wrong, because the more futuristic, intelligent, and humane Nimrod has already devised a solution: turn Nimrod into a mutant. As a mutant, Nimrod could maintain his own stability while containing the mutant threat simply by controlling himself. But Peter certainly wouldn't voice such a brilliant idea.
Conversely, the Nimrod before them was far less difficult to deal with than the Nimrod Peter had fought before.
"So it's a robot? Haha, I feel pretty good about myself again."
The steel oligarch scrambled to Peter's side, a confident smile spreading across his face. He didn't consider Peter and his group enemies at all: "You're Magneto's reinforcements, right? Great! Let's all attack together and wipe out this bunch of brainless idiots! So what if they're robots? I just need to hack into their systems and they're dead!"
"Iliana?"
While observing the situation, Iliana retorted, "What need do we have to save the oligarchs?"
"Will Ninglu turn his control of his mech against us?"
"What the hell are you talking about—Holy shit!"
Iliana rationally followed Peter's advice, and a teleportation array somehow sent the Iron Oligarch to some unknown place. Meanwhile, Nimrod, who was invading, stopped pretending and simply opened his arms. The two modified superhumans stood on either side of him like guardians.
Then, a large amount of smoke billowed from the entire mountain, and one Sentinel robot after another climbed out. There was no doubt that these things weren't brought over by Nimrod himself, but rather Stryker had received aid from Nimrod and then built his own Sentinel production line.
Peter looked at the Sentinel robots and asked Nimrod a question: "Wait, if you're here, what about the real Stryker?"
He's dead. He was a potential mutant.
"So he spent so much money and built so many things, but he didn't use any of them himself. They were all used to annoy us."
,
Peter called to his teammates, saying they would go together and rescue the person as well.
