Chapter 493 Rampage

In less than three hours, it is virtually impossible to find a solution to turn the tide – this is a consensus among almost everyone.

Given this consensus, the obstacles Tony and his team will face in trying to stop others from pulling the trigger to destroy the other side's Earth are considerable.

Almost instantly, all of New York City's armed forces came together and split into different factions.

"Get out of the way, Tony, let's settle this!"

General Ross led military forces from the North American Defense Forces, along with remnants of either S.H.I.E.L.D. or Hydra. As a national defense officer, his primary responsibility was naturally to his country.

As for the fate of the opposite planet, that's none of his business!

"Don't tell me you're just going to drag this out with us all, do nothing and wait to die, or wait for the other side to press that button!"

Captain America and his group, who had been abandoned by Tony earlier, quickly landed on the street above and stood on General Ross's side.

Luke Cage and Black Widow are not noble people; their families and friends are all in New York, on this planet.

Unless Tony or Superman can provide them with a reliable solution, any normal person would choose to protect their own world without hesitation.

Seeing that even a living legend of the military like Captain America was on his side, General Ross was even more emboldened: "I'm glad you're on the right side, Captain America."

"It's just a special case."

Captain America stood on General Ross's side, opposite Tony. His eyes swept over the several aliens behind Tony, some familiar and some unfamiliar, while his fingers, gripping the shield, tapped nervously on the back.

In contrast to General Ross's clamor, on Tony's other side, Sinestro and Squirrel Chip, the Green Lanterns who had successfully evacuated from the battlefield from the Flashpoint universe, appeared particularly dull and reserved.

The brief battle with the Kryptonians on Earth had almost exhausted all their killing intent and rage; all that remained for them was the numbness and calm that came from the life-or-death struggle.

No matter how much the people of this earth shout, they simply maintain a defensive posture and keep their defenses unwavering.

After all, these are only a few hundred Green Lanterns remaining under the Guardians' command. In the past, the power of more than seven thousand Green Lanterns could cover 3600 sectors of the universe.

It was just a part of the armed forces on Earth, and to these Lanterns who had just fought to the death with the Chlorine Star Legion, it was not a valid threat at all.

The collision between the two Earths also challenges the moral compass of the Green Lanterns, who see it as an almost unsolvable dead end.

They had no choice but to hold the line and wait for a turn of events, as Superman had suggested.

As for Tony, who was caught in the middle of the two opposing sides, things were even more difficult. On the one hand, Superman did indeed put him in charge of guarding the switch to prevent any further accidents, but on the other hand, most of Tony's family and friends were also in this universe.

Through the Iron Man suit, no one could see his expression, but Tony Stark felt he was completely unable to control it; his facial muscles were trembling.

His mind was in turmoil. The apocalyptic scene of the two Earths colliding, which he had dreamt of with Doctor Doom, was beginning to replay in his mind again and again.

Confined by fear, Tony was speechless, and the Green Lantern Corps remained silent as well, preventing the two sides from directly breaking off relations and engaging in a full-blown fight for the time being.

"Calm down, guys, that's definitely not what happened!"

Having put aside his work, Dr. Banner stood between General Ross, his former father-in-law, and Tony's side, and began to vehemently argue the dire situation: "It is known that the destruction of both Earths is inextricably linked to the survival of both universes. Would those Kryptonians really hand us a button that kills them?!"

He possessed extraordinary wit and composure even when he wasn't green; in his view, this so-called Kryptonian had dropped a complete trap.

Anyone with normal intelligence would know, after a little thought, that this is completely illogical, wouldn't they?

But Dr. Banner forgot that humans can't remain rational forever, especially since his appearance only fueled General Ross's long-standing envy. Coupled with the current situation, the old military officer finally snapped: "I don't care about you, Banner, you traitor, get out of here!"

With a wave of his hand, he was about to command his army to move out: "Open—!"

Before he could even utter the word "fire," Captain America, who had somehow appeared beside him, roared, "Now!"

With Captain America's command, he threw his vibranium shield, which bounced off the external cannon bays of several armored vehicles, stunning the operators inside.

At the same time, Sandman, Luke Cage, Black Widow, and Hawkeye also sprang up instantly, leaping toward the nearest mid-level commander.

"Captain America, what are you doing!?"

General Ross had never anticipated this. Facing the fist the size of a sandbag coming at him, his eyes widened in disbelief: "You're committing treason!"

How could any soldier be so indifferent to the survival of their country, instead believing the enemy's empty promises?!

"First of all, the Earth on the other side is not an enemy, but an innocent party just like us."

After knocking out General Ross, who was giving orders, Captain America didn't forget to explain to the gray-haired military junior, who he had already lulled to sleep, how a true freedom fighter acts: "Secondly, destroying the lives of innocent people to ensure one's own life is not how the American way works in my mind."

"I'm sorry, I also wanted to stand on your side."

That's what they say, but the Sandmen were actually the most ruthless of them all.

He used his real, sandbag-sized fists to deliver brutal blows, sending all the unfortunate souls inside and outside the cockpit flying: "But Superman saved my daughter."

Black Widow and Hawkeye acted with equal speed, demonstrating their solid skills and established awareness as S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

To be a hero, one's actions must naturally differ from those of ordinary people.

Especially when one realizes that their beautiful vision of protecting their beloved people and things also exists in the hearts of the vast majority of other people.

The worst outcome of a collision between two planets would be mutual annihilation, but they are willing to trust Superman and take the risk together, waiting for the perfect solution.

Unexpectedly, Luke Cage encountered a mishap. During his operation, a soldier who pulled out a pistol from his waist moved much faster than he anticipated, and the bullets in the soldier's magazine did not seem to be the ordinary ammunition commonly seen on the street.

After a gunshot, Luke Cage, known for his indestructible skin, fell to the ground with a bloody bloom on his chest, while the section of firepower he was supposed to be responsible for accidentally discharged.

Captain America leaped with his shield, managing to deflect only a tiny fraction of the bullet's trajectory, causing it to veer off course. This deflected machine gun shell flew out and exploded at Dr. Banner's feet.

Sinestro projected a protective barrier using his Green Lantern Ring, but it wasn't enough to protect Dr. Banner, who had been blown away by a stray bullet. He could only fly into the air to try and catch the bleeding Banner: "Damn it!"

Humans are not a powerful species. If they were blown away by a shell of that caliber and power, even if they managed to leave with a complete body, their internal organs would probably be pierced by shrapnel, and they would be basically beyond saving.

Seneca, from another universe, felt somewhat guilty for his slowness, believing that his attempt was merely a humanitarian gesture and had been in vain.

The other locals present, however, all paled, for they knew what kind of monster lurked within the seemingly gentle and composed Dr. Banner: "Be careful!"

A massive green hand slapped Sinestro away as he was about to approach, and the smoke and blood in the air were completely dispersed by the shockwave of the slap.

"roar!"

In the midst of that out-of-control explosion, the enraged Hulk and the severely injured Dr. Banner swapped places.

His eyes were bloodshot, and he was about to explode in anger: "Hulk, it hurts!"

The pain from the injury Dr. Banner just suffered was fully transmitted to Hulk. This super-child, whose mental age was still only six or seven years old, but whose physical strength was enough to tear apart the universe, wouldn't react with tears and shouts like, "Hulk, smash!"

With a loud bang, the earth cracked open.
