Chapter 441 The Ministry of Magic's Crisis
Chapter 441 The Ministry of Magic's Crisis
Upon seeing that it was guard Eric Munch, the two Silences immediately felt relieved.
"What are you doing here?" Broderick Bode asked. "Shouldn't you be guarding the corridor?"
Broderick Bod, the Silent One, is a wizard who always has a gloomy face, and even his voice is melancholic and low.
"Besides Miss Black, who else would come here for no reason?" Munch explained with a laugh. "I mainly heard some interesting things."
Upon hearing this, Bod, who had been looking worried, immediately became excited, while the other Silent Man beside him remained calm and showed no interest what Munch had called interesting.
This is the correct way to be a taciturn person, and it's also why Broderick Bode is always unhappy; his colleagues are all incredibly boring.
Bode stared intently at Munch. The reason for the guard's dereliction of duty was no longer important; what mattered was what interesting things Munch had overheard.
Eric Munch felt uneasy at the silent man's unwavering gaze. He said, "I knew you'd be interested, so I came in to see if you were here."
Broderick I'm Curious Bode immediately looked grateful; he had no doubts about Munch.
"This isn't the place to talk. Let's talk as we walk," Bode said, leading the way outside.
Upon seeing this, Eric Munch immediately followed, no longer remaining in the church-like Hall of Prophecy.
The silent man who was left behind looked suspiciously at Munch's departing figure, and then looked around at the rows of tall shelves.
"Hurry up, Gran!" Bode, who was walking ahead, called back. "Aren't you even a little bit curious?"
"They're here!" Glenn Hawke responded. He took one last look around before walking after the two who were about to leave the divination hall.
"Today's amusing incident also comes from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement," Eric Munch said mysteriously.
"Let me guess!" Bode exclaimed excitedly, his previous hesitation gone. "Could it be that Miss Black is retaliating against those employees who left the Department of Law Enforcement?"
As he spoke, Bode turned back again to urge Glenn Hawke behind him.
Although no anomalies were found in the Hall of Prophecy, Hawke still felt that something was amiss.
Therefore, Hawke walked slowly, occasionally glancing back at the rows of shelves that emitted a dim light.
"You're only half right, Broderick," Eric Munch continued, keeping everyone in suspense. "It does indeed involve Miss Black."
At this moment, Glenn Hawke, who kept looking back, finally caught up with the two people walking ahead, and the three of them walked side by side toward the Time Hall.
"Tell me, tell me!" Bode urged. "Since Miss Black returned to the Ministry of Magic, many interesting things have happened here."
"Miss Black has uncovered a Death Eater hiding in the Department of Justice! Guess who it is?" Eric Munch said. "Corban Yaxley!"
"Coban Yaxley! What's going on?!" Bode exclaimed in surprise. "Wasn't he already acquitted?!"
"It's not funny that the Ministry of Magic found someone innocent, a Death Eater," Glen Hawke sighed.
The footsteps of the three people faded into the distance, and their voices gradually became inaudible. The Hall of Prophecy soon returned to its usual deathly silence.
Walton McNeil, hiding behind a row of shelves, let out a long sigh, wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and examined the prophecy balls on the shelves again.
McNeil did not choose to run away, or rather, he was not prepared to leave the Ministry of Magic at that time.
Walton McNeil planned to remain hidden in the Department of Mysteries until most of the department had left for the day before departing.
There's still some time before he gets off work, so he can use that time to continue searching for the prophecy orb in the prophecy hall. As long as he's careful enough, he won't be discovered.
Outside the Bureau of Mysteries, the chaos within the department not only did not end, but worsened.
Many people saw David Griffith storm into the Department of Magical Creatures Control with a stern face, followed by his henchmen, all of whom looked fierce and menacing.
Those who witnessed this scene began to speculate whether the arrested Yaxley had implicated his accomplices, or whether the enforcers of the Magic Law Enforcement Division had come to arrest him.
Not long after, David Griffiths and the batter left in a flurry, having caught no one and seemingly having come up empty-handed.
So people began to speculate again about who the Death Eaters hiding in the Department of Magical Creatures Control were.
David Griffiths, disappointed by the empty search, hurriedly gathered more men to guard the elevator and the main hall while rushing back to report to Belvina.
"We're too late, McNeil's already gone," Griffith said through gritted teeth. "If I'd been a little faster, I might have caught him!"
“This isn’t your fault, David,” Belvina said. “It was my oversight that led me to take McNeil into custody as well when I made my move against Yaxley.”
This was a mistake by Belvina; her misjudgment of the situation gave McNeil ample time to react, allowing him to escape.
"I was careless and underestimated McNeil," she continued, without a hint of frustration on her face.
"I've already had people guarding the entrances and exits of the department. If he's still hiding inside, he definitely won't be able to escape," Griffiths said. "If he has already escaped, it will probably be very difficult to find him again."
Seeing that Belvina did not respond, Griffith assumed that she was still agonizing over her carelessness.
"McNeil is different from Yaxley; he's from the Department of Magical Creature Control," Griffiths reassured him.
The Department of Magical Law Enforcement is the largest and most important department in the ministry. Apart from the Department of Mystic Affairs, all other departments must obey the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
However, Walton McNeil was not a member of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement; he belonged to the Dangerous Animals Disposal Committee under the Department of Magical Creature Management and Control, making his capture as easy as capturing Yaxley's.
"I was just wondering where McNeil might be hiding." Belvina waved her hand, saying that grabbing Yaxley was enough, and if McNeil ran away, so be it.
Belvina thought for a moment, then said, "David, have the strikers withdraw. The guards over the main hall and elevators will make others uneasy. We're making arrests, not staging a coup."
A large group of menacing thugs were checking people at the entrances and exits, and the elevators were blocked, giving off a strong sense of a violent coup.
London is not Seoul, and it's not springtime now, so Belvina has no plans to hold an unrestricted fighting tournament.
"I'll have them withdraw immediately," Griffith said. "And what about the Department of Magical Creature Management and Control—"
"I'll go talk to them now." Belvina stood up. "Do you want to come with me?"
Although the Department of Magical Law Enforcement holds the highest position within the ministry, Belvina still owes them an explanation and clarifies the reason for the assault team's forced entry.
David Griffith shook his head vigorously. He was good at charging into battle and fighting, but giving others a reasonable explanation was something he wasn't good at.
"Let me confirm with you again, there was no conflict and no damage to public property, right?" Belvina asked.
"No, absolutely not," Griffith assured, patting his chest. "They were quite polite over there."
Upon hearing this, Belvina rolled her eyes.
Griffiths led a group of men and barged in brazenly; how could they not be polite?
Just as Belvina entered the Department of Magical Creatures Control, the Ministry of Magic's crisis was once again pushed to its peak.
As closing time approached, the reporters, having somehow gotten wind of the news, rushed into the Ministry of Magic like sharks smelling blood.
The magnificent main hall was bustling with noise. Wizards and witches from various media outlets gathered in the open space in front of the Magic Brothers Fountain, shouting that they wanted to see Burns and Black.
Neither the guards' attempts to stop them nor the public press office's attempts to calm them down could dampen the journalists' enthusiasm for the truth. They wanted to know what had happened in the ministry and whether Coban Yaxley was truly a Death Eater.
