Chapter 573 Jealousy

The parrots followed.

Dick couldn't understand what these dragon-scaled parrots could possibly gain from him.

Regardless, as a knight, he felt he had something he had to do.

"Yes, that girl is so beautiful, and so young," Peggy suddenly said. "Oh! A vulnerable woman waiting to be rescued, wouldn't that make you men's blood boil?"

For some reason, Dick sensed a hint of sarcasm in Peggy's tone: "What are you trying to say, Peggy?"

"I just want to say that you went to all that trouble to get rid of a naked girl; you definitely didn't have good intentions. Did you imagine that after you got her out of that crystal, she would throw herself into your arms?"

"Peggy, what's wrong with you? I am a knight, and protecting women is a knight's oath. I must keep my oath," Dick replied.

"But you should also have priorities, you should—"

"Should be what?" Peggy's words trailed off, and Dick didn't understand the rest of her sentence.

But Dick knew clearly: "Peggy, I must keep my oath and never forget any oath, just as I always remember Lord Hubert's entrustment to me."

"I don't want to hear any of your vows or promises," Peggy screamed hysterically. "You're a block of wood, and even a rock rolling down a hillside isn't as foolish and stubborn as you!"

Aside from feeling completely bewildered, Dick couldn't sense anything.

Seeing Peggy striding ahead alone, Dick didn't even bother to try and persuade her.

"Never mind, I have important business to attend to," Dick thought.

He looked at the purple crystal block being carried by the three people around him.

A beautiful young girl sleeps inside a crystal.

Dick had no idea what was going on. Why would there be other humans on an island full of exotic parrots and monsters?

But it was no accident that this water maiden was sleeping inside the dragon crystal.

Seal — Dick thought of this word.

If that were the case, then as a knight, he absolutely could not let it go unchecked.

Therefore, he ordered the stones to be taken back.

Although I don't know how to save this girl, I must not let those strange and cunning dragon-scaled parrots surround her.

"My lord—" a soldier beside him said.

This man is called Charles. Although he is not tall, he is quite skilled in martial arts.

"What's wrong?" Dick asked.

"What are we going to do with this?" Charles said. "It's such a big rock, just carrying it has almost exhausted us."

"We can't just leave her like this," Dick said.

"I understand you, but we haven't taken a knightly oath," Charles replied. "We're doing this entirely out of obedience to your orders, sir. However, if this stone containing the girl is truly hindering our operations..."

Of course, we believe you must have already thought of a solution.

However, the truth is: "I don't have any solutions—but you're right, this isn't working—"

Even if Dick had a way to rescue the girl immediately, he couldn't be sure of her safety or her attitude.

Acting rashly will only harm the other party.

All he needed to do was take the stone containing the girl, which appeared to be a dragon crystal, back to the mainland and seek help from kind-hearted people who might know something about it.

By the way, perhaps we could go and see Mr. Mosley.

This learned curator may have a different opinion on this.

Regardless, Dick thought, "We should go back to the ship and move this thing back."

"My lord, I believe this decision is wise. So, when shall we depart?"

Dick thought for a moment, "Now, I'll go tell Peggy first."

At this point, Charles interrupted, saying, "Sir, it may seem inappropriate for me to say this, but when you go over to speak with him later, you'd better show some understanding."

"Understanding? But she's just being unreasonable," Dick said.

Charles shrugged. "I think Miss Peggy is just a little uneasy, or rather—jealous."

"Jealous?" Dick asked, puzzled. "Jealous of what?"

"I suddenly understand Miss Peggy's situation a little better; she seems to be right?"

Upon hearing this, Dick quickly recalled Peggy's earlier words, but couldn't recall which sentence Charles was referring to: "What's right?"

"You really are no different from a piece of wood or a stone," Charles shook his head with considerable sympathy.

Wood and stone? Dick was a little confused. Did he mean I was stupid and stubborn?

As Mr. Hubert once said, I am sometimes rigid in my thinking and inflexible.

But is that what Peggy and Charles meant?

Dick stared at Peggy's retreating figure ahead—jealousy—

Was she jealous of this girl? Dick gazed at the delicate face reflected in the crystal.

She was indeed a woman of unparalleled beauty, perhaps only Miss Anne could be compared to her.

According to Dick's stereotype, women often place great importance on their appearance.

But in reality, Peggy is definitely a beauty.

Moreover, no two people are exactly alike, and Peggy has qualities that no one else can match.

Thinking about this, Dick nodded. So that's why Peggy lost control of her emotions.

Having learned the truth, Dick confidently stepped forward: "Peggy."

"Don't talk to me," Peggy said, walking even faster.

"You are beautiful," Dick said.

Upon hearing this, Peggy suddenly stopped and turned sharply to look at Dick.

Those big, bright eyes were filled with surprise and anticipation.

Seeing these reactions, Dick chuckled inwardly. So it really was because of his appearance anxiety.

Dick said, "You're very beautiful too. Be confident, Peggy. You're no less beautiful than anyone else."

Peggy's eyebrows furrowed slightly: "What nonsense are you spouting?"

"?"

Faced with this reaction, Dick was somewhat confused. "Aren't you just jealous of that girl's looks?"

Upon hearing this, Peggy sighed heavily, as if her expectations had been dashed: "You really are a blockhead. Besides, you said I was jealous of her looks, isn't that just saying I'm not as good-looking as her? Do you think I'd be happy to hear that? Although, I am indeed jealous—"

Although she didn't quite understand Peggy's words, she at least admitted that she was a little jealous.

In other words, Dick thought, I'm not entirely wrong.

However, Peggy wasn't jealous of the other person's appearance, so she asked, "What are you jealous of?"

"Hmph! I won't tell you."

Peggy turned her head away, but immediately glanced at Dick again. "However, if you can guess, I'll forgive you."

Dick pondered the answer, utterly bewildered, finding women's minds so difficult to fathom.

However, Peggy seemed to be in a much better mood.
