Chapter 4 Martial Soul Awakening

Three days passed quickly, and it was time for the martial spirits of Wanghun Village to awaken.

Early that morning, Yang Ping'an, along with Old Tom and some children from the village, arrived at the Spirit Hall in Wanghun Village.

The Spirit Hall can be said to be found all over the world, even in remote places, down to small villages. However, for a small village like Wanghun Village, the so-called Spirit Hall is just a larger house with the Spirit Hall's logo on it. It is probably only used once a year, and judging from its level, it should be the lowest-level branch hall.

Wanghun Village has over a hundred villagers, and this time, thirteen six-year-old children have awakened their martial souls. Both children and adults are very much looking forward to the martial soul awakening.

In the Douluo Continent, Soul Masters are the highest profession. Becoming a Soul Master is basically a symbol of becoming a superior person. After all, there are only about 10,000 Soul Masters on the entire continent. Only one ordinary person can awaken one, which is extremely rare. Especially in remote villages like this, it may take several years for a child with innate Soul Power to awaken.

Upon arriving at the place for martial spirit awakening, Yang Ping'an was the last one among everyone present. Everyone seemed to be filled with anticipation, not only the children but also their parents.

Yang Ping'an is an orphan who lives alone. He usually likes to wander in the mountains and forests and has little interaction with other children. Especially considering Yang Ping'an's current mental age, he is already a complete adult and can't play with those children.

Not to mention that many families and children regard Yang Ping'an as a jinx and avoid him whenever they see him.

Yang Ping'an ignored everyone else and simply stood quietly at the back of the line.

The person talking to Old Tom was a young man who looked to be in his twenties. He had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, and was quite handsome. He was dressed entirely in black, and even had a black cloak on his back. This should be the exclusive attire of the Spirit Hall personnel. It is said that almost everyone from the Spirit Hall who travels the world wears this kind of attire.

This person has a fist-sized "Soul" character on their left chest, near their heart. In particular, there is a badge on their left chest engraved with a longsword, with a special mark that likely indicates their Soul Master level.

Old Tom showed great respect to the young man: "Hello, esteemed Soul Master, I'm troubling you again this time."

Judging from the situation, the two seemed to know each other quite well. The young man simply nodded and didn't talk to old Tom anymore.

Old Tom then addressed the group: "Children, this is a Soul Master from Notting City. He will help you awaken your Martial Souls. You must listen to the Soul Master and cooperate fully with him to awaken your Martial Souls. I look forward to some of you becoming Soul Masters."

The young man simply nodded slightly, then addressed all the children who were preparing to awaken their martial spirits: "Children, stand in a line and wait for us to come in one by one."

"My name is Su Yuntao, a level 22 Great Soul Master. I will also be your guide on the path to becoming a Soul Master in the future. Remember, no matter what happens, don't be afraid."

After Su Yuntao finished speaking, he took out six black, round stones and a shiny blue crystal ball from his bundle.

Immediately afterwards, Su Yuntao arranged the six black round stones into a hexagonal shape on the ground, and then a group of children stood at the front of the hexagon in the center.

After the first child entered the center of the hexagon, Su Yuntao seemed to become extremely serious: "Relax, close your eyes and feel carefully."

After watching the child complete the operation as instructed, Su Yuntao shouted, "Lone Wolf, possess!"

Su Yuntao seemed to have undergone a huge change. His originally black hair seemed to have turned grayish-black, his muscles swelled up, and his whole body seemed to have infinite power. Even his eyes turned into a ghostly green, and his hands turned into ten sharp claws, which seemed to be even sharper than wolf claws.

Two spirit rings appeared under Su Yuntao's feet, one white and one yellow, indicating that he was a two-ring Great Spirit Master.

After Su Yuntao summoned his martial soul and soul ring, he patted the void several times. It seemed that a force entered the six black stones, and the black stones were also affected. A golden light flew out and formed a light shield, instantly enveloping the child in the center of the hexagon.

As the golden light gradually merged into the child's body, a tremendous change seemed to occur within the child, as if some strange power was emerging.

"Extend your right hand," Su Yuntao said to the child who had awakened his martial spirit with unusual seriousness.

After the child stretched out his right hand, an energy gradually appeared on his right hand, which eventually formed a hoe.

Upon seeing this, Su Yuntao nodded: "The Martial Soul Hoe is a Weapon Martial Soul."

Immediately afterwards, Su Yuntao picked up the blue crystal ball again: "Child, put your hand on the crystal ball."

The child placed his hand on the crystal ball as Su Yuntao instructed, but there was no reaction from the crystal ball.

In the end, Su Yuntao shook his head: "Child, you haven't awakened your innate soul power, so you can't become a soul master. Stand aside, the next one can come forward."

As Su Yuntao finished speaking, the child left the hexagonal awakening area with a disappointed look on his face, and the second child in the group also entered the hexagonal determination area as instructed to begin the martial soul awakening process.

One by one, the first twelve children all awakened their martial souls, but none of them awakened innate soul power.

Most of their martial souls are sickles or hoes, and two of them are blue silver grass or ordinary weeds. However, the fact that they have not awakened innate soul power means that they cannot become soul masters and will only be ordinary people for the rest of their lives.

Yang Ping'an was the last to enter the hexagonal awakening area alone.

Following Su Yuntao's series of actions, a golden light entered Yang Ping'an's body, and a bizarre creature actually formed on Yang Ping'an's right hand.

This creature resembles a dog but is the size of a pig, with a length and girth exceeding 1.5 meters. It has light purple fur all over its body, two small drooping ears, large deep blue eyes with a gentle gaze, four short and thick legs, and a bulge on the top of its head.

After his martial soul awakened in his right hand, Yang Ping'an felt a dizzying sensation, as if his whole being had undergone an inexplicable change.

Yang Ping'an stretched out his left hand and examined it carefully. It didn't look like he was awakening a second martial soul at all. It seemed that there was no hope for twin martial souls. However, he felt that something had changed in his body, but he just couldn't perceive it.

Yang Ping'an carefully examined the martial spirit on his right hand and felt a sense of familiarity. Finally, he couldn't help but complain: Isn't this Yu Xiaogang's martial spirit, Luo Sanpao? How could I, a transmigrator, awaken such a martial spirit?

Looking at Yang Ping'an's awakened martial soul, Su Yuntao couldn't help but ask, "What kind of martial soul is this? I don't think I've ever seen one before. Is it a pig?"

Immediately afterward, Yang Ping'an placed his right hand on the blue crystal ball as Su Yuntao instructed, and the crystal ball actually emitted a faint light, which was barely noticeable unless one looked closely.

Su Yuntao looked at the faint light in the crystal ball, his expression turning unusually grim. However, he finally spoke, "Not bad, you've awakened innate soul power, but it's only at half a level. If you work hard, you should have a chance to become a Soul Master."

Everyone was puzzled when they heard Su Yuntao's words.

Su Yuntao looked distressed: "I have traveled all over Notting City and awakened many children. All the children who have awakened their martial souls have at least level one innate soul power. This is the first time I have seen someone with half a level of innate soul power."

"So this child has the potential to become a Soul Master, but I don't know exactly how much that potential is."

After everyone had awakened their martial souls, Su Yuntao led all the children away from the Martial Soul Hall (the wooden house).

Old Tom hurriedly approached Su Yuntao: "Sir, have any children in our Wanghun Village awakened innate soul power this time?"

Su Yuntao couldn't help but shake his head: "There is indeed one, but his innate soul power is only half a level, so he can probably only become a Soul Master at most."
