Douluo Continent: Dragon's Journey Across the World

Chapter 31 Soul Battle Competition

This was Yang Ping'an's first time in the Soul Arena. Although he was wearing a mask, he still felt more nervous than ever before.

The entire area was surrounded by countless spectators, all cheering and shouting wildly, their voices deafening.

Even though he had lived two lives, Yang Ping'an had never encountered this situation before, and he felt a surge of tension, even breaking out in a cold sweat.

The host was a rather sexy woman with a very sweet voice. She picked up the microphone and began to introduce the topic in a loud voice.

"The two players in this battle are Dragon Traveler and Earth God Ox."

"Dragon Soars Across the World contestant has a Soul Power of Level 26, his Martial Soul is the Purple-Gold Mastiff, and his Soul Rings are both yellow. His previous record is zero, and today is his first time participating in a Soul Battle competition. Earth Divine Ox contestant has a Soul Power of Level 29, his Martial Soul is the Earth Savage Ox, and his Soul Rings are both yellow. His previous record is 26 wins and 7 losses."

"Both sides have one minute to summon their Martial Souls and Soul Rings. Please prepare."

As the host finished speaking, Yang Ping'an's tense mood gradually relaxed. It was just an ordinary battle of spirits, nothing to be ashamed of.

Thinking of this, Yang Ping'an quickly summoned his martial soul, the Purple-Gold Mastiff. Two yellow soul rings appeared on his body at the same time. The Purple-Gold Mastiff was now 2.5 meters long, and its body had become much more slender. It was no longer as round and chubby as before. With sharp teeth and fierce eyes, it already looked a bit like a combat-type martial soul.

Meanwhile, the opposing Earth Bull player also summoned his martial spirit, the Earth Bull. Instantly, his muscles swelled, and his body even grew much larger. A phantom of an Earth Bull appeared on his body, making him look exceptionally strong and fierce.

With the host's command, the competition officially began.

The Earth God Bull on the opposite side seemed to be brimming with power, becoming extremely savage as it charged directly at Yang Ping'an with a fierce aura. Clearly, it was a power-type Soul Master and a strong attack-type Soul Master.

Yang Ping'an clenched his fists and threw a full-force punch at the charging Earth God Bull contestant. Their fists collided, and Yang Ping'an took a step back, while the Earth God Bull contestant took five steps back.

After so many years of extreme body training, Yang Ping'an's physical strength has far surpassed that of other Soul Masters of the same level. He can even compete with Soul Masters who have just entered the Great Soul Master realm in terms of strength.

After the initial exchange, Yang Ping'an formed fists with both hands and launched a series of punches at the opposing Earth God Ox contestant. Meanwhile, the Purple Gold Mastiff roared fiercely and also struck out with its palm at the Earth God Ox contestant. Although it had not yet grown claws, its attack power was already considerable.

In just half a minute, with the rapid coordination between Yang Ping'an and the Golden Mastiff, Yang Ping'an had already thrown dozens of punches in succession, while the Golden Mastiff continued to pounce and bite. The opponent was forced to retreat step by step, with multiple wounds appearing on his body.

Suddenly, the Earth God Bull roared, his first spirit ring flashed, and his strength increased dramatically. His hands transformed into bull's hands, and he charged directly at Yang Ping'an. During the collision, there seemed to be some special energy fluctuation, and even the air seemed to be shattered. This was his first spirit skill: Wild Bull Charge.

Yang Ping'an understood immediately and quickly activated his first soul skill: Xuanjin Protective Shield. Instantly, a Xuanjin protective shield appeared in front of Yang Ping'an.

The Earth Bull and the Xuanjin Protective Shield collided instantly, and Yang Ping'an was pushed back several meters, but he barely managed to block the opponent's full-force attack.

At this critical moment, Yang Ping'an suddenly dodged the opponent's soul skill, Bull Charge, and tilted his body to the side. His Xuanjin protective shield disappeared, and his power vanished without a trace. The opponent's Bull Charge suddenly had nowhere to land, and he was unable to control his soul skill as he moved forward rapidly.

Yang Ping'an seized this moment and immediately activated his second soul skill: Purple-Gold Ray. A purple light shot out from the mouth of the Purple-Gold Mastiff, heading straight for the back of the Earth God Bull contestant.

The Earth God Bull contestant twisted his body with all his might, trying to block Yang Ping'an's attack. However, the attack was too sudden and the angle was too tricky. Moreover, his body was in a backward state. Even if he used all his strength, he could not stand still. In the end, he was directly knocked out of the arena by the purple light.

At this point, the beautiful referee quickly announced the result of the match: "Earth God Ox has fallen off the stage. Congratulations to Dragon Soaring Across the World for winning."

Upon hearing this, the entire audience was immediately in an uproar. They never expected that Yang Ping'an, a novice, could actually win. It should be noted that Hercules Bull already had a very good record at the Great Soul Master stage, especially since he had been on a winning streak recently.

As a result, the match only lasted a little over a minute, and the Great Emperor Divine Ox contestant had already fallen off the stage, failing before he even had a chance to use his second soul skill.

Yang Ping'an let out a long sigh of relief and left the arena.

The battle was not difficult; in fact, it could be said to be relatively simple. The opponent's use of soul skills and power was far too crude. He couldn't even fully control his own soul skills and was also somewhat careless. In the end, Yang Ping'an won easily.

After completing the battle, Yang Ping'an returned to the academy alone and began to ponder the role of combat.

Given Yang Ping'an's current strength, he is already virtually unmatched at the Great Soul Master stage. His main weakness lies in his mastery of soul power and martial soul, which is why he plans to participate in the Soul Battle Competition.

Especially regarding his own martial soul, the Purple-Gold Mastiff, it is temporarily unable to possess him like other beast martial souls. It is somewhat like the legendary separated martial soul. However, throughout the entire original work, it seems that only Bone Douluo possesses a separated martial soul.

However, Yang Ping'an was quite certain that as long as the Purple Gold Mastiff Martial Soul could truly evolve into a dragon-type Martial Soul, it would definitely be able to demonstrate its true strength.

Furthermore, during the battle, the Golden Mastiff basically acted according to its own thoughts. It can be said that the two sides were of one mind, but it is obvious that the Golden Mastiff also has its own thoughts, which makes it even more difficult to understand.

Yang Ping'an thought of another question. According to the original work, all martial souls are alive and have thoughts. Doesn't that mean the Purple-Gold Mastiff's bloodline has reached an unprecedented level? Even stronger than all beast souls?

Yang Ping'an stopped thinking about it and focused on training, studying, and fighting spirits in an orderly manner, trying his best to improve his combat ability and the ability to use his martial spirit.
