Douluo Continent: Dragon's Journey Across the World

Chapter 27 Snake Hunting

As time went by, the berserk demonic bear on the other side was completely wrapped up by the purple-gold dragon-patterned python. The original roar of the bear gradually cooled down and turned into a faint whimper. Finally, everything fell silent.

After the battle was over, the purple-gold dragon-patterned python actually swallowed the raging demonic bear whole. Its originally exceptionally slender body suddenly became much thicker, especially the area where the raging demonic bear's corpse entered, which looked like a balloon and was very unbalanced.

Its speed and other aspects have decreased significantly. At this point, the Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python is clearly stuffed, but Yang Ping'an is only observing the Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python from a distance and has no intention of making a move.

By integrating his memories from his past and present lives, Yang Ping'an understood that hunting snakes was extremely difficult, especially since the Purple-Gold Dragon Python appeared weak. However, having just won a battle, it might be even stronger than before. If it were determined to give up the food inside its body, its combat power could surge at any time.

For the next period of time, Yang Ping'an followed the purple-gold dragon-patterned python from a distance until he found its nest before he began to prepare for action.

Time flies, and Yang Ping'an has spent more than twenty days in the Star Dou Great Forest. Recently, he has been secretly observing near the Purple Gold Dragon Pattern Python's den, waiting for the best opportunity to hunt the snake.

Judging from the current season, snakes do not need to hibernate in summer. Although the Purple-Gold Dragon Python does not like to leave its snake den and is relatively leisurely with low energy consumption, given its powerful bloodline, the energy from that raging demonic bear last time was indeed enormous. However, snakes can only consume energy for half a month to two months at most before they must hunt again. The next hunt will be the best opportunity.

That day, the Purple-Gold Dragon Python once again crawled out of its nest, seemingly preparing to hunt.

After careful observation, once the Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python had completely disappeared, Yang Ping'an began to work on the ground with his gloves. Snake-type soul beasts are not good at digging holes; they can move freely in various holes as long as their entire bodies are like arms. The only thing that can really work is fishing for snakes.

Yang Ping'an dug a shallow pit on a necessary path around the Purple-Gold Dragon Pattern Python's den. The pit was over ten meters in diameter and more than ten centimeters deep. He then filled the pit with iron caltrops. The iron caltrops were very simple to make, consisting of four spikes. They were used in ancient warfare to deal with warhorses and armies.

Moreover, these caltrops are coated with various colorless and odorless poisons, which Yang Ping'an recently collected to deal with this purple-gold dragon-patterned python.

Above the barbed wire was a huge wire mesh, made of very precious metals. It was extremely thin and tough, and all the edges of the wire mesh were inverted, so once an enemy was grabbed, it would only tighten more and more.

Finally, Yang Ping'an covered the wire mesh with a thick layer of plants, exactly the same as the original plants, showing no signs of damage. He even specially painted over the traces left by the Purple-Gold Dragon Python.

After everything was settled, Yang Ping'an then instructed the Golden Mastiff to search for the Golden Dragon Python by sensing its aura.

This Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python is indeed powerful. In just two days, it hunted down another three-thousand-year-old soul beast, this time a Bursting Long-Toothed Boar, which is also a very good strength-type soul beast.

Especially since this bursting, long-tusked boar is much larger than the original berserk demonic bear, the Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python's movement speed seems to be affected more.

Yang Ping'an silently observed the Purple-Gold Dragon Python until it reached the trap. He then reached out and grabbed it forcefully, causing the eight ropes of the wire mesh to fly up from the ground and quickly interlock, completely enveloping the Purple-Gold Dragon Python.

Although the Purple-Gold Dragon Python was moving slowly, it was caught off guard by this sudden attack. However, it reacted very quickly, swinging its tail rapidly in an attempt to create an opening.

Yang Ping'an knew this was a critical moment, so he stopped hiding and quickly threw out several crossbow bolts. These bolts were not aimed at the Purple-Gold Dragon Python, but went straight through the huge steel net and pierced through it. The entire steel net shrank significantly due to the blockage caused by the bolts.

But the purple-gold dragon-patterned python struggled desperately, even spitting out the burly-tusked boar that it had already swallowed.

After the bursting tusk boar was spat out, the Purple-Gold Dragon Python's strength increased dramatically. It thrashed its entire body violently, even lashing its tail so hard that it struck the tree branch with the steel net hanging from it, snapping the tree in two. The Purple-Gold Dragon Python, snake and steel net together, crashed to the ground from the sky, finally finding a place to brace itself.

Because of its swinging motion, all the camouflage and leaves on the ground were knocked away, leaving only sharp barbed wire.

Yang Ping'an knew that the situation was extremely dangerous. Although the purple-gold dragon-patterned python had been caught in the net, it was not yet safe.

Yang Ping'an gritted his teeth, took out an iron crossbow, and kept shooting arrows at the Purple-Gold Dragon Python, focusing on its eyes and abdomen. Even if he missed, he could still gradually nail down the steel net and make it shrink.

As Yang Ping'an relentlessly fired, various sizes of crossbow wounds appeared on the Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python's body. Moreover, with its frantic swinging, the steel net tightened under the force of the crossbow bolts.

Finally, when the steel mesh was completely bound together, it tightly constricted the entire Purple-Gold Dragon Python. In particular, as the Purple-Gold Dragon Python struggled desperately, wounds were already formed on its body from the steel mesh.

As time went by, Yang Ping'an had run out of arrows, and even the swords and knives he had originally planned to use to hunt ordinary soul beasts had all been used to pierce the Purple-Gold Dragon-Patterned Python.

After a full half hour, the struggles of the Purple-Gold Dragon Python began to weaken, and its aura gradually decreased. Not only did it have various arrow wounds, knife wounds, and sword wounds, but its entire body was also covered with caltrops, making it look somewhat like something that would trigger trypophobia.

However, Yang Ping'an dared not be careless at all. Snakes are among the most cunning of all soul beasts, and also the most tenacious in terms of vitality. Some snake soul beasts can even bite people after their heads have been chopped off. Playing dead to attack enemies is also what snakes are best at.

After waiting for a full half day, the purple-gold dragon-patterned python, which had been on the verge of death, suddenly sprang up and seemed to use all its strength to pounce on Yang Ping'an. This was probably its last attack before it died.

Yang Ping'an was prepared and retreated in an instant. The place where Yang Ping'an was originally located collapsed directly, and the purple-gold dragon-patterned python fell into a deep pit along with its net. The pit was only a little over two meters in size, but three meters deep.

After the entire purple-gold dragon-patterned python fell into the deep pit, it was truly like a lump of meat, completely in dire straits.
