Chapter 641 The Death of the Black Emperor
Chapter 641 The Death of the Black Emperor
Black Emperor looked around blankly at everything.
The space was filled with a viscous black liquid, which kept bubbling and writhing, and the bursting bubbles emitted a pungent, rotten smell.
The dark red sky resembled congealed blood, and countless enormous, twisted tentacles danced beneath it, covered with glowing suckers and fine spikes, each movement accompanied by a wailing roar.
In the distance, one can vaguely see buildings with bizarre outlines. These buildings defy the laws of physics, with twisted angles and strange lines, as if they were randomly sketched by a mad painter.
"Where is this? Where is this?"
Sebastian stood in the viscous black liquid, the icy liquid reaching above his ankles, sending a chill down his spine. Fear began to spread, pressing down on his heart like a weight, making it hard for this powerful mutant to breathe.
He had faced many enemies and experienced countless dangers, but he had never felt such pure and despairing terror.
"Hello, Sebastian," Rune's voice rang out in the darkness, but he could not be seen. Everything around him froze the moment he spoke, and Sebastian felt safe again.
Even though only a few dozen seconds had passed, he felt as if he had been there for a month.
"You—let me out! Now!" Black Emperor roared, his voice as loud as the fear in his heart.
But Rune did not respond to his request, which made Sebastian change his approach. He begged Rune to let him go and tried to exchange his money and power for Rune's help.
Rune still did not respond to his prayers.
Then, the roars gradually turned into pleas, and the Black King began to cry, just like a child.
"Please—please save me!"
Rune looked at the man sitting on the ground crying through a thin veil of darkness, and finally said softly, "This is your nightmare, Sebastian. Goodbye—oh no! I hope we never meet again."
As soon as he finished speaking, everything around him started moving again. The huge tentacles suddenly attacked the Black Emperor, and the suckers on the tentacles made sucking sounds. Combined with the hairs and sharp teeth on them, it made Sebastian feel a chill run down his spine.
Black King started running, he ran and cried, like a fragile child. In fact, he was no different from a child now. If it weren't for his ambition, his soul, which had been corrupted by money and power, would never have allowed himself to appear in his dreams as an adult.
In this nightmare, he had long forgotten his superpowers. When a giant tentacle slammed into the Black Emperor, excruciating pain swept over his entire body like a tidal wave. Instead of waking up, Sebastian crashed into a building.
In reality, Sebastian also vomited a large amount of blood from his mouth and nose.
Before Sebastian could react, more tiny tentacles attacked, but unlike before, they simply bound his limbs tightly.
In his eyes, several enormous tentacles drooped down, then began to writhe violently, and countless mangled bodies surged out wildly from the suckers and folds on the tentacles.
Their skin was deathly pale, and they kept wriggling, trying to squeeze out of the holes that were much smaller than their bodies, looking like maggots that had sprung from the decaying tentacles.
"No, no, no, no, someone please save me! I don't want to die! I don't want to die!!!"
Seeing this, Sebastian finally broke down. He began to struggle frantically, while the mangled corpses writhed and groaned, crawling straight toward the bound Black Emperor.
Those mangled bodies quickly crawled onto his body, tearing and devouring him with ferocious fingers and broken teeth. Each bite tore off a large chunk of flesh, and with the sound of chewing, Black Emperor's consciousness was visibly dissipating.
In the real world, Sebastian's pupils contracted instantly, and then his body began to convulse uncontrollably. His skin visibly dried up and turned black, like a mummy that had been drained of all its moisture.
Black, viscous liquid flowed from the Black Emperor's seven orifices, exactly like the black liquid in the nightmare, emitting the same nauseating, sweet-smelling odor.
Soon, the body began to devour him. His body twisted at bizarre angles, and in the blink of an eye, his entire body became a bloody mess.
The trauma from the nightmare was reflected in the Black King in an extremely cruel way, but this was insignificant compared to the damage he caused to the second-generation mutants through their exploitation.
A moment later, Sebastian finally stopped.
His body was twisted into a grotesque shape, with hardly a single patch of healthy flesh remaining.
Anyone who sees this blasphemous scene would be unable to resist vomiting; it's practically some kind of sacrificial offering.
Rune, however, did not intentionally wake up from the nightmare; he was currently cleaning up his mess.
His method of using the Nightmare Orb was far too brutal, implicating too many innocent mutants, so Rune had to enter their dreams one by one and weave them a beautiful dream.
Although it's called the Nightmare Orb, this is only because the Emerald Nightmare Demon drastically altered the artifact's properties; it can still give people pleasant dreams.
However, if someone like Rune directly and brutally pours magic into it and pulls everyone into the dream, the Nightmare Orb, which contains the entire Emerald Nightmare, will naturally use its master's dark magic as fuel to spread fear.
It's actually easy to correct; Rune just needs to readjust his will. However, the initial shock will still make many mutants disbelieve the changes before their eyes, causing them to cower in place, afraid to move.
Thanks to this, Rune also witnessed the nightmares of many people.
In the wasteland, Logan relives the night of the disaster, when he once again slaughtered the entire X-Men. This time, he also sees his two daughters dressed in X-Men uniforms.
The White Queen of the Wasteland was completely unable to move and could only look at the mirror. In the mirror, she was twisted and terrifying, flailing her arms and legs and pounding on the mirror, as if she wanted to step out of the mirror and replace herself.
Only Jean Grey, relying on the Phoenix Force, barely manages to fight against her nightmares—her enemy is another version of herself, a ruthless version that only wants to end everything.
