Chapter 592 Jaina's Ambition
Chapter 592 Jaina's Ambition
Rune rolled his eyes. He had mind protection and brain-sealing techniques. If the Supreme Star Soul wanted to read his mind, he would definitely react.
Despite his rebuttal of the dark forces, perhaps because he already had something to hide, Rune felt that Azeroth looked at him strangely after waking up.
In return, Azeroth gave Rune an enhanced Heart of Azeroth.
Rune was reluctant to accept it because this artifact was a regional exclusive. While it could indeed move mountains and seas in Azeroth, it wouldn't be as useful outside of Azeroth—especially before Azeroth had grown into the Supreme Star Soul.
But Azeroth convinced him, "This doesn't just enhance your power; it represents the trust of a planetary consciousness in you. With it, your journeys through the astral planes will be smoother."
Rune then decided to accept the gift.
"The other Old Gods and those guardian dragons—do they need my help?" Rune placed the Heart of Azeroth into the workshop.
Azeroth shook her head, her expression turning icy cold at the creatures Rune had mentioned. "If they still can't deal with them even after gaining my power—I'd rather not have these children."
"But the Aspect Dragons—" Rune wanted to remind Azeroth that although the Aspect Dragons were products tamed by the Titans, from an objective point of view, they did indeed maintain the peace of Azeroth.
However, this supreme star soul clearly didn't want to talk about these things. In Azeroth's eyes, the dragon guardians and the Old Gods were birds of a feather.
In terms of seniority, the Proto-Dragon was the first World Soul Guardian chosen by Azeroth, and Galakrond was the Proto-Dragon leader chosen by the Supreme World Soul himself.
As a result, Galakrond was inexplicably corrupted by necromantic power and then killed by the guardians created by the Titans and five other dragons. To say there wasn't something fishy going on...
Rune himself didn't believe it either.
The Titans once built laboratories on Azeroth, primarily to create perfect creatures. Rune suspected that Loken, one of the Titan Keepers, stole some of the products to contaminate Galakrond.
After all, Loken's prototype is Loki, and in every universe, Loki is synonymous with betrayal and chaos.
Azeroth clearly knew something, so she interrupted Rune and, using the excuse that she had to meet the Loa, used a seemingly gentle but actually firm attitude to drive Rune out of the Chamber of the Heart.
Upon arriving on the land, Rune looked at the sky and silently mourned for the guardian dragons. It seemed their mother was not yet willing to acknowledge these rebellious children.
The only thing that made Rune happy was that Azeroth's attitude towards him had improved significantly.
Theramore was unusually lively that night, with civilians and soldiers celebrating once again, while the leaders of the Alliance of Azeroth feasted at the table.
Dishes such as pumpkin pie, smoked bear meat, and boiled clam meat were quickly served, and Rune, who had helped them defeat the otherworldly invaders and single-handedly dealt with the Emerald Nightmare and the Old God C'Thun, naturally became their honored guest.
After having a few drinks, Jaina loudly proclaimed her intention to rebuild the human empire and restore humanity's glory. The divine power of the Heart of Azeroth had greatly strengthened her, and coupled with the appointment by the Soul of Azeroth, this was not a difficult task.
Especially now that the Eastern Kingdoms are suffering from the undead slaughter, if handled properly, Jaina could descend as a savior and win over a large number of people.
While Malfurion was still frowning, Tyrande spoke up directly, expressing her support for Jaina's decision and reminding those who had vested interests that they would never relinquish their power, so she would send her most elite forces to protect Jaina.
"You're talking about—the Watchers, right?"
Tyrande smiled and nodded. Rune's words of praise for herself and the entire Night Elf race in front of Azeroth had earned this powerful woman a lot of goodwill, so she didn't care about revealing her intentions to him.
Thrall wanted to say something, but Vol'jin stopped him.
The latter winked at Thrall and said, "I'm sorry, great human overlord, the orcs and trolls recently engaged in some disgraceful acts against humanity, therefore we will not, and cannot, send troops."
Vol'jin paused, observed the situation, and, finding that Jaina wasn't angry, continued, "But we will send tauren to support your operation."
In the eyes of humans, elves are synonymous with pride, nobility, and power. Although the night elves' help to Jaina rebuild the human empire may have drawn criticism, most people would think that Jaina was destined for greatness. Otherwise, why would those proud elves help a human?
But if Thrall were to involve the orcs—that would be a different story. Humans have never lost their deep-seated hatred for orcs, and the orcs' help would only make other humans resent the new empire.
Jaina, of course, understood. She did hope that the Horde and the Alliance could live in peace, but that didn't mean she was a fool—well, at least not yet.
"I can provide you with food," Rune said casually, "but you'll have to exchange it for magical materials or equipment. I guarantee it'll be cheaper than what the goblins offer."
"Thank you, thank you everyone—" Jaina pursed her lips, on the verge of tears. The confusion and bewilderment in her heart completely dissipated with the support of others, and determination and resolve took their place.
While everyone was still relatively lucid, Rune spoke the will of the Star Soul, "There are still three and a half ancient gods on this planet. You will have to deal with them yourselves."
The other half naturally refers to Saratas.
"Of course!" Malfurion said in a deep voice, "This is our mission."
"Don't forget, you're not just fighting the Old Gods. The six Forces will converge on Azeroth, and they'll choose their own representatives. War will surely resume, not to mention those in other worlds who are eyeing you covetously—"
Rune first poured cold water on the leaders of the Alliance of Azeroth, but then added, "But don't forget, you also have reinforcements from another world."
"Then let us toast the reinforcements from another world!" Thrall raised his glass, laughing loudly, "And to you, warriors from another world!"
"Cheers!"
After a few rounds of drinks, Jaina suddenly remembered something and stumbled over to Rune. "I have something to ask you—"
belch----"
"What is it?" Rune raised an eyebrow.
"Just one thing—how do we overcome the barriers of the world to contact you?"
Rune's face stiffened.
Oh no! He was so focused on showing off that he didn't even think about this!
