Chapter 486 The Beauty Trap

Lucas inherited his father Lucius's technological talents and often uses high-tech equipment to assist the Bat Family in maintaining Gotham's order, but he also has a little-known identity: Batwing.

He was dressed in a black and silver suit of armor with sharp lines and a futuristic feel, making him look like a caveman compared to Jason.

But Lucius knew all too well what his son was capable of—the two of them had already argued several times about Luke becoming a superhero.

Lucas witnessed his father's dedication and sacrifices for Batman and Gotham, and chose to intervene with his own power to try to ease his father's burden.

The intention was good, but Lucius knew all too well the dangers of Gotham and the terrible torment that came with being a member of the Bat-Family. Pain and sacrifice were only a consolation.

Desperate to save his father, Lucas charged straight at Jason, but Jason simply shook his head at the other assassins, indicating that they didn't need to protect him, and then casually pulled out a spherical device from his person.

The device emitted a buzzing sound the moment it landed.

A powerful wide-area electromagnetic pulse erupted from Jason, and an invisible energy field swept across the entire room in an instant, filling the air with a faint smell of ozone.

Meanwhile, the monitors inside Luke's armor began to flicker violently, the HUD interface displayed a lot of snow and garbled text, and the precision electronic equipment such as the aiming system and bio-scanner issued piercing overload alarms.

Damn it, it's EMP!

Realizing this, Lucas was extremely anxious. He immediately activated the armor's emergency shielding mode and backup system in an attempt to minimize all losses, but most of the advanced functions had already been restricted.

"Lesson one, rookie," Jason's sinister voice rang out clearly in the room, "Don't think you're invincible just because you're wearing a suit of metal!"

But he was met with a punch.

While the Warframe's advanced functions were affected by EMP, basic functions like the power system do not rely entirely on electricity.

The thrusters at the bottom of his bipedal armor emitted brief bursts of blue flame, adding terrifying kinetic energy to the punch. Even Jason, who had been enhanced by the Pool of Lazarus, would not have fared well if he had taken that punch.

Jason sneered. Instead of dodging, he went straight for the punch. Just as the punch was about to hit, his body slid to the side at an incredible angle, and his left hand grabbed Luke's wrist with lightning speed, pulling him along.

Lucas was thrown off balance, his heart sank, and he increased the force on the side of his restrained arm, trying to break free, while his other elbow slammed into Jason's ribs.

But Jason seemed to glimpse the future briefly. He quickly released his left hand, stepped back, and flicked his wrist, sending a batarang embedded in Lucas's shoulder.

Drop drop!

The batarang made a piercing sound, and based on this, Lucas recognized it as an explosive batarang. Just this one, plus a little more money, could buy a car.

"Oh, damn it!"

Boom~~

Twenty minutes —

"Oh, couldn't you be a little gentler!" Lucas was roughly thrown into a secret room by Jason. His head hit something soft, and his cry of pain caught Lucas's attention.

He looked around and discovered that among those imprisoned here were Nightwing, Batwoman, and others.

"Wow," Lucas blinked, "Um—hello?"

The red light swept across Gotham City. Ordinary people who were knocked to the ground and bleeding from their injuries found themselves in the hospital in the blink of an eye, while ordinary criminals who were taking advantage of the chaos were sent to prison in the next instant.

"It's The Flash!" a Gotham resident immediately shouted in the hospital. "We're saved!"

However, the Flash himself was exhausted. He followed Batman's instructions and tried his best to avoid the group of assassins, but the problem was that there were many members of the League of Assassins, so Barry could only take side paths and sometimes had to climb over walls.

In addition, he had to bring a few people with him to climb over the wall, which made Barry both tired and hungry. Fortunately, Gotham's fast food restaurants were still open even at this time, so he didn't starve to death.

Are people in Gotham really that unafraid of death?

While thinking this, Flash was quick on his feet and soon found another victim.

A woman was running through the alley, wearing a thin, light-colored dress that was already soaked through by the rain, her golden hair clinging wetly to her pale cheeks.

Perhaps because she was in such a hurry to escape, she had lost one of her shoes somewhere, and her face still showed the panic of a small animal.

At that moment, three men emerged from the depths of the alley like hyenas that had smelled blood. Barry immediately recognized them as the Riddler, the Calendar Man, and the Mad Hatter.

"Hey, Alice, do you remember me?" said the short, ugly Mad Hatter with a sneer. His face made the woman shrink back until her back pressed against the cold, damp brick wall.

The riddle teller chuckled and leaned closer, saying, "Looks like you need some help, don't you, huh?"

"Please, please—let me go—"

"Don't be afraid, little cutie," the calendar man grabbed the woman's arm, "we'll take you to find some fun!"

She was roughly dragged along, her skirt ripped, revealing more of her bruised skin. The men's laughter echoed through the narrow alley, mingling with the sound of rain and the faint wailing of police sirens in the distance.

A perfect victim, isn't she?

Just as the clothes were about to be completely torn apart, time seemed to stand still.

The men's ferocious expressions and outstretched arms froze at that moment, like three poorly made wax figures, while a golden lightning bolt suddenly appeared, emitting a dazzling light.

That was Barry. He couldn't tolerate such violence. Although it was strange that three prominent figures in Gotham City would try to assault a girl, he couldn't care less.

In his eyes, this was simply an act of violence that needed to be stopped, a life that needed to be saved. The speedster's compassion and sense of responsibility overwhelmed his caution at that moment.

Barry tried to grab her wrist and pull her away from the danger. But just as his fingers touched her skin, he felt a strange chill emanating from her.

But he didn't take this strange feeling to heart; it was normal for a woman to feel cold after being in the rain for so long.

In that brief moment, he pulled the woman to safety. "Don't be afraid, I'm Shan—"

The words stopped abruptly, and Barry felt as if his limbs were filled with lead, and the scenery before him began to spin. The woman pressed herself against his body intimately and held his hand.

"Got you!" she said with a smile, her eyes vacant as she stared at Barry.

Oh no, I have to hurry!

The next moment, he fell into a deep sleep.
