Chapter 467 Magical Reform (XI)

This is the bar Constantine frequents, but Wolverine dislikes it. It's smoky, and the air is always filled with the smells of cheap whiskey, sulfur, and despair.

The beautiful waitress to Constantine's left was a succubus.

This place is a melting pot of all sorts of things: cursed magical items, the latest news from the magical world, and even the most precious souls—these things circulate here like cheap cigarettes and alcohol.

Constantine sat in the corner, a glass of almost untouched whiskey in front of him, his body curled up in a beige trench coat, his fingertips trembling.

Danger is approaching.

Constantine had felt this way many times, but this time even the amulet he had taken from Rune was vibrating and emitting a scorching heat.

This is definitely not as simple as some stupid demon coming to the human world to cause trouble for him. Now, the entire magical world is eyeing him covetously because of his status as a reformer. Of course, perhaps his past actions have also contributed to this.

Constantine pondered carefully who he had offended and what their motives might be. Just as he was deep in thought, a familiar but slightly tense voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Hey, John!"

The speaker was Chandler, Constantine's most trusted friend, most reliable driver, and—human shield. He was standing by the table with a worried expression on his face.

"You look like you've been outrun by Cerberus for three blocks — anyway, what do you want?" Chandler lowered his voice, glancing around suspiciously as he spoke.

But Constantine didn't care. He just took a deep drag of his cigarette and stubbed it out on the greasy table. "Listen, this place is no good, Chandler. You'd better get out of here, now!"

As he spoke, Constantine took out a small bag from his pocket. This was also an item he had taken from Rune. It had been enchanted with a Seamless Stretch Charm and could hold a large number of items.

"You're going to do it again—" Chandler's eyes widened, but he finally sighed. "Never mind, where should I go?"

"Go back to my room first, find my roommate, and have him take you to Rune," Constantine said anxiously, shoving the small bag into Chandler's arms. "Now, hurry!"

Chandler had worked with Constantine for a long time and knew what he dealt with, so without hesitation, he reached out and the instant his fingertips touched the small bag, all the lights in the bar, including the few scattered lights on the old jukebox behind the bar, went out at the same moment. Darkness instantly enveloped the entire bar, and the noise came to an abrupt halt.

Everything in the air seemed frozen, even the bartenders disguised as demons remained motionless, pretending they didn't exist.

On the greasy walls, runes shimmering with purple light appeared, spreading rapidly like living things, turning the entire bar into a magical cage.

"Oh, damn it!" Constantine cursed under his breath as he watched this scene, his hands moving non-stop as he reached inside his trench coat, where he found all sorts of little gadgets for emergencies.

Most of them were things he had taken from Rune's workshop before.

However, it was all too late.

One figure after another emerged from the shadows, crawled out from under the floor, or even opened a portal in the air.

These people were dressed in various ways, including traditional mages in ancient robes and magic mercenaries in leather armor with magical runes. Their eyes were extremely fanatical, and the magical energy emanating from their bodies seemed to be twisted into a single rope, giving people a suffocating sense of oppression just by looking at them.

At the entrance of the bar, a man dressed in a blue-purple velvet robe adorned with numerous gold jewelry walked in slowly, a cold smile on his thin face.

FXXK!

Constantine cursed under his breath again, and Faust's gloomy, sticky voice came through, "Good evening, John. Someone told me that to find you, I had to go to the filthiest, most disgusting cesspool. It seems the intelligence was correct."

As he spoke, he deliberately looked around, "Looks like I didn't miss this party?"

Constantine roughly guessed the other person's identity. He forced a mocking smile. "You shameless old bastard, how does it feel to have a body that doesn't belong to you? Want to play a few rounds with your grandpa? I guarantee you'll be so turned on you'll pee yourself!"

These words made Faust's smile disappear.

That insidious and vicious little beast—

Struggling to ignore Constantine's sarcasm, Faust's gaze swept over the gaunt man. "I'm not interested in your clumsy sense of humor. I came here for it, John. Hand me the Spear of Longinus, the Spear of Destiny!"

"What? You mean, the one who stabbed God's son with that gun?" Constantine stalled for time while winking at Chandler, signaling him to find a chance to escape. At the same time, Constantine's fingers had already touched a saint's finger bone engraved with runes inside his trench coat.

Those little runes aren't really suitable for dealing with Faust.

"Imprisonment!"

Faust sneered. Did he really think he was so stupid that he couldn't see through Constantine's little tricks?

As he cast his spell, multiple chains made of shadow emerged from the ground like venomous snakes and coiled around Constable's limbs.

Ok?

Sensing the strength of the struggle, Faust began to look at Constantine with new respect, but that was all. Constantine's struggle failed, and the saint's finger bone slipped from between his fingers and fell to the ground, its light dimming as it had been shimmering faintly.

Almost simultaneously, the two mages raised their hands and each fired an energy beam, which accurately struck Chandler, who was trying to leave.

Chandler grunted, feeling as if he had been slammed against the wall by an invisible force and then slid to the ground.

"Oh my god, my back—"

Clearly, the taxi driver had lost the ability to move. Constantine immediately increased the force of his struggle, but the chains tightened more and more, and the cold touch of the chains not only bound his body but was also eroding his soul.

The immense pressure forced him to the ground, rendering him unable to move.

Faust strolled over to Chandler and gently nudged the ordinary man with his toe, while the increased struggle made him look at Constantine.

A cruel smile appeared on the face of the dark mage.

"Ah, Chase Chandler, it seems this ordinary man is important to you? It seems I already have enough valuable leverage, don't you think?"
