Chapter 464 Magical Reform
Chapter 464 Magical Reform (Part 8)
Faust masterfully grasped their fear and pride, packaging a potentially futile resistance into a sublime holy war for freedom.
But because of his speech, the conservatives cheered and regarded Faust as a beacon in the darkness. These mages seemed to have forgotten Faust's cruel act of devouring a mage's soul. Some mages even regretted why they hadn't summoned Faust back sooner.
However, the old monk hidden behind the crowd lost faith in these conservatives. Even he, who had lived for three hundred years, had only ever seen such a persuasive speech in a certain small-bearded man.
As for his and his team's fate, everyone should have seen it for themselves.

At this moment, Zha Kang came to Rune's workshop, wanting to talk to him about something, but his hands were not very clean, and he always ended up taking some small trinkets.
For example, a lighter that won't go out, or glasses that can see through objects.
"Perhaps we should publicize how much magical knowledge the mages who join us have acquired." Constantine put on his glasses, wanting to test just how useful they were. "That's the culmination of the wisdom of an entire magical faction in this other world; countless mages would go crazy for it—"
Through the glasses, Constantine could even see Rune's body. Before he could get a closer look, Rune reached out and a small wisp of dark magic flew out and wrapped around the glasses.
Snapped!
The lenses of the glasses shattered into pieces instantly, but were held in place by the frame and didn't fall off.
"You really can't take a joke," Constantine sighed, "but I think my suggestion will work, at least it will bring those neutrals to our side."
Rune glanced at Constantine. "No need. My camp has never lacked those two-faced fools."
In his vision for the future, there is no room for opportunists.
"If they can betray others for knowledge, they will naturally do the same—"
Constantine nodded helplessly. "I know, I know. They will betray us in the future for more knowledge, but at least this will make our current work a little easier."
Constantine has been under immense pressure lately. Every time he tries to persuade certain mages to join the reform movement, he is called an executioner and a heartless, cunning beast.
If he were truly the beast the reformers denounced him as, that would be one thing, but Constantine also possessed a conscience and a unique commitment to justice, so he was under immense pressure.
Rune glanced at Constantine. "What makes you so indecisive? Tell me, you scumbag Constantine, perhaps I can enlighten you."
"Hey! Don't you dare call me that!" Constantine's eyes widened. "Don't think I don't know that name came from you, you bastard! I've helped you so many times, and you call me that—"
"We both know your own nature; using that name to change the subject is a terrible idea." Rune didn't argue with Constantine, but instead asked his question again, "Tell me, Constantine, what makes you so weak?"
"—Can I smoke?"
Seeing how haggard Constantine looked, Rune reluctantly nodded, "Go ahead and smoke, I'll just get some fresh air later."
Constantine skillfully pulled out his cigarette case from his pocket, opened the lid, and lit a cigarette in one smooth motion. In less than three seconds, he was smoking the Sica cigarettes he had been longing for.
"I just—met a mage named Illaoi—"
Is she a sea monster priestess? That one's not someone to mess with. If she really is the one from League of Legends, she has a sea monster backing her up. But—
Has the Origin Wall already broken? This is incredibly unfortunate. The entire magical aspect of the DC Universe has been thrown into chaos, and the superheroes haven't even fully undergone the forging process yet—
Rune frowned, deep in thought, but Constantine continued, "That mage—her father and husband both died in this upheaval, and were killed by Kane himself—"
Rune had no sympathy for the mage; he merely dispelled the idea that Illaoi was a sea lemur. If a sea lemur were to come to this universe, she probably wouldn't seek a husband, but would instead go straight to proselytizing.
"She called me an executioner and told me to kill her, but I just—" Constantine rubbed his head, "I just really doubted the correctness of our reforms. Does that terrible god really exist? I—"
"This isn't like you, Constantine—" Rune shook his head. "In my memory, you've always been a bastard with dark intentions, watching others die before your eyes with a clear conscience—"
Constantine sighed. "Your impression of me is somewhat strange, isn't it?"
"Come on, you jerk Kang. I have plenty of ways to know about you, like—" Rune smirked, "How's your counterpart in another universe? Do you think your counterpart can truly empathize with you?"
"Fuck!" Constantine cursed, but he didn't doubt Rune's ability to do it. However, a lewd expression quickly appeared on his face. "By the way, could you find me a female version of Constantine?"
Rune understood the few words he didn't say.
Only a female version of Constantine could wholeheartedly cooperate with Constantine in practicing those extremely perverse ways.
Sometimes, even the most depraved succubi would vomit at Constantine's methods.
"Okay, I know what you're thinking. You're suffering from your actions, you're questioning your choices, and at the same time, you're questioning mine."
Rune's overly blunt language silenced Constantine. Rune was right; Constantine was indeed afraid that Rune would go to extremes. However, after witnessing Rune's recent actions, he had to admit that his fears seemed to be becoming a reality.
What impact would a mage of Rune's caliber have on the entire universe if he made a wrong decision? Constantine dared not think about it.
"Am I right?" Rune squinted at Constantine. "You've always been afraid of me, haven't you? Like Chandler, you never told me about him, but did you tell Logan about Chandler's existence?"
"Hey! You better not touch Chandler, or you'll regret it!" Constantine could no longer remain calm after hearing that name.
"Yes, I've never touched him. How interesting! Hellblazer's best friend is a taxi driver, an ordinary person!" Rune smiled, but that smile sent a chill down Constantine's spine.
"If you want to confront me, if you want to question my decision, that's fine with me. Time will prove me right. I just hope you won't overthink it, Constantine. You're a smart man, but even the smartest man can't deduce the correct answer with insufficient information."
But Constantine remained silent, and the two sides remained deadlocked.
Just as the scene fell silent, Zatanna teleported over.
"Oh no!" Her beautiful face was filled with panic, but her appearance broke the silence between them. "Those old-timers, they've summoned Faust!"
