Chapter 343 Maeve: That's it?

Defeating Brainiac did not mean that the wasteland was immediately safe. Although some of the advanced Terminators directly controlled by Brainiac had ceased their activities, most of the more outdated Terminators were still active in the wasteland, faithfully carrying out Brainiac's mission and shrinking the living space of humans.

With Clark around, Rune didn't bother with the robots. Superman was cleaning up Terminators all over the world and rescuing every human being. Without Kryptonite and the Red Sun, these outdated Terminators couldn't hurt Superman at all, and the title of Superman the Savior spread throughout the apocalypse.

During this time, Rune also fulfilled his promise, allowing Queen Maeve to succeed Homelander as the nominal leader of the entire American wasteland. However, he did not ask Queen Maeve to join the organization resisting the Forsaken, because he did not trust the humans of this world.

"I never thought you would actually do it—." Queen Maeve sat in the seat that Homelander had once occupied, her expression somewhat complicated.

Rune nodded. Cleaning up the Terminators in the wasteland was destined to be a long-term task, but once the T-800 and other more advanced Terminators lost their mobility, the task became easy; the mastermind behind Judgment Day, Brainiac, and his Seven's assistants were also killed.

The monk has essentially fulfilled his promise.

"Don't forget the deal we made, Maeve."

Queen Maeve nodded. All she wanted was a production workshop and a few workers for Compound V. To trade such a small thing for the rule of a nation? That was too good to pass up.

Starlight, standing beside Queen Maeve, looked at Rune and Raven, who was clinging to him, with a complicated expression, and asked, "We want to administer Compound V to the wasteland population on a large scale, but this will not affect the shipment volume."

Although the speaker was Starlight, it was actually Queen Maeve's idea. After learning that Compound V had been improved and most of its side effects had been removed, leaving only one side effect that could cause changes in the appearance of those vaccinated, she immediately decided to vaccinate most people with Compound V.

As long as superhumans and ordinary people continue to coexist, the drama of the strong oppressing the weak will continue to play out. In order to maintain social stability as much as possible, Queen Maeve decided to offer this precious opportunity to all those who are willing to be vaccinated with Compound V.

Moreover, Terminator remains a major challenge, and enhancing ordinary people can reduce casualties.

"Sure, but this is an internal decision for you, there's no need to tell me." Rune waved his hand, as long as it didn't affect the portion of compound five he was given.

Seeing his reaction, Queen Maeve, who had been somewhat uneasy, finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that, at least for now, this man of unknown origin was unwilling to interfere with her rule, which was certainly good news. This world, after experiencing Judgment Day and the Terminators, was already ravaged and could not withstand any more turmoil.

After clapping their hands, several policemen brought over a briefcase. This was the first batch of finished products that Rune had requested, only thirty pieces, a quantity that even Starlight felt was too few.

Rune picked up his suitcase, opened the portal, and was about to leave when Starlight couldn't help but call out, "Come visit us sometime if you're free!"

"Okay." He nodded, waved to the starlight, and then stepped into the portal.

As Starlight stared blankly at the teleportation portal, Queen Maeve clicked her tongue in embarrassment, causing the girl to blush deeply and ask, "What? I was just saying goodbye, why did you make that sound?"

"I thought you were going to confess your feelings." Queen Maeve shrugged, but her words were surprisingly explosive, a look of regret on her face: "And that's it?"

"Stop talking!!!"

After a bit of playful banter, Queen Maeve looked around through the French windows. She still had a lot to do. First, she needed to solidify her position and spread the word about what Homelander had done to ruin his reputation. Second, she needed to restore transportation and gain support from other shelters through the improved version of Compound V. Finally, she wanted to restore America to its pre-war state.

"Do you think we can do it?" Queen Maeve suddenly turned around and asked Starlight.

Starlight asked, somewhat puzzled, "What are you doing?"

"Can we go back to the pre-war era, back to a time when everyone could afford a hamburger and a Coke?"

"Of course!" Starlight looked firmly at Queen Maeve. "We definitely can!"

"Look, which jerk is here again?"

Looking at the portal that suddenly appeared in front of him, Tony's face showed displeasure. He knew very well who had come. Apart from that guy, no one else would be so rude as to teleport directly to his laboratory.

"You jerk?" Rune raised an eyebrow and took out a weapon he had seized from Brainiac's Terminator from his spatial storage.

Tony had never seen such a device before. In his opinion, the technological creation in Rune's hands looked like some kind of weapon, but the design language was completely beyond human comprehension.

Tony didn't understand it, but he was deeply shocked.

"Ahem, you're here, why did you bring a gift?" Tony's sullen face immediately turned into a smiling one. As he spoke, he moved closer to Rune, trying to take the high-tech-looking gadget from the mage's hand.

However, with a mere flick of his hand, Rune caused the device to vanish completely.

"Am I still a nuisance now?"

"Of course not, hey! Everyone knows you're one of my best friends!" Tony tried to keep his voice from sounding too harsh. "Want something to drink? Whiskey, coffee, or tea?"

"Could I please have a bottle of juice that you poured yourself?" Rune said with a smile, carefully observing the expression on the man's face. Teasing this strong-willed man was the most fun way to relax besides playing games.

Stark was still managing a forced smile. He took some juice from the refrigerator, poured it into a glass, and handed it to Rune. After he finished, he even reached out his hand to Rune.

"What's wrong?"

Stark took a deep breath: "There's a price to pay for ordering around the smartest people in the world, even if it's just pouring a glass of juice. Now it's time for my payment, isn't it?"
