Chapter 207 Odin's Invitation

Chapter 207 Odin's Invitation

After resolving all the issues, Rune arrived in the Marvel universe. He gave an OK sign to the sky, while in distant Asgard, Heimdall wielded his Bult steel. As the blade pierced the Rainbow Bridge, a dazzling, seven-colored beam of light erupted from the bridge, and ancient runes appeared beneath Rune's feet.

Rune looked down and recognized the runes as including Separation, Acceleration, and Shattering. The next moment, he was fortunate enough to experience the most unique teleportation spell in the Ten Realms. In the seven-colored light, Rune could see countless strange cosmic scenes, such as the permafrost glaciers of Jotunheim and the fiery river of Muspelheim.

This was the most beautiful, spectacular, and comfortable teleportation he had ever seen. It has to be said that there are always people more capable than you, and there is always something beyond your understanding.

The next moment, Rune arrived at the legendary Rainbow Bridge.

"Greetings, esteemed otherworldly mage." Heimdall bowed to Rune, who carefully examined the burly man wearing a horned helmet.

"I thought you were Black—in the universe I know, the other one is much darker."

Heimdall paused for a moment, then replied, "My skin is indeed darker than other Asgardians, but I'm glad I wasn't born in Midgard, so I won't be seen as an outcast by my own kind because of my skin color."

"You're right." Rune nodded, not expecting Heimdall to be so sarcastic. If a typical European or American came here, they might have been taken aback by that remark, especially someone like Black Panther. But for Rune, it wasn't even enough to tickle him.

"Can you tell me why you're so angry?" Rune asked.

"I will keep a close eye on you, dark mage from another world." Heimdall replied irrelevantly, turning to the side, but his golden eyes remained fixed on him: "The Allfather awaits at the palace at the end of the road. Please observe proper etiquette and refrain from offending my king."

"It seems that mages with dark magic are like black people in Midgard here." Rune sneered, directly retorting, "I'm also glad I was born in Midgard, where people aren't considered heretics by their own kind because of the black or white nature of their magic."

But Heimdall remained motionless, as if he hadn't heard a thing.

Rune shook his head and left; there was no point in arguing with this guy anymore.

Heimdall was a loyal man, but his loyalty was to Odin.

The path was strewn with rubble, but the dilapidated buildings still perfectly matched Rune's fantasy world. He had to admit that Asgardian architects were indeed more professional than himself; their houses were far superior. The main road extending from the Rainbow Bridge led directly to the palace, so there was no need to worry about what to do if he got lost.

Perhaps knowing that a distinguished guest was coming, no one stopped Rune. He easily entered the magnificent palace and, guided by his attendants, met the god-king.

Even though the god-king was sitting on his throne, Rune could still see his imposing stature. His muscles, as rugged as mountains, were particularly terrifying, and his only remaining eye had a golden pupil, within which one could even see flashing lightning.

Rune bowed, while Odin stood up.

"I apologize for my rudeness as a watchman, please don't mind." He stood in front of Rune, the light shining on his imposing figure, while shadows enveloped Rune's entire body.

“It’s alright.” Rune shook his head. “Just as you wouldn’t care about Loki’s offense to you, I won’t care about Heimdall’s offense to me.”

Odin clearly saw what Heimdall had done, and Rune even felt that Odin had instructed him to test him, only that he hadn't managed to fight Heimdall as he wished. However, Rune retaliated—he deliberately used an inappropriate analogy, equating Heimdall with an unfilial son.

"Haha, you're quite amusing." Odin smiled, seemingly unconcerned by Rune's retort: "You're the first person in all these years to dare speak to me like that."

Rune smiled as he looked at Odin: "Indeed, the King of Gods is truly extraordinary. Even though he is the one asking for a favor, he acts as if the other person is asking him for a favor."

Odin narrowed his remaining eye, and a spear appeared in his right hand, wrapped in runes, its tip gleaming with a cold light that seemed capable of tearing through dimensions, with countless bolts of lightning converging upon it.

This is Gungnir—also known as the Spear of Destiny. It is a causal weapon that will always hit its target once thrown, and it is one of the few powerful artifacts that can counter speedsters.

But Rune was not to be outdone. To Odin's surprise, the light in the palace dimmed instantly, whispers filled the air, and even tendrils began to wriggle around his shadow. He could even sense that this boy might actually be able to put up a good fight with him. If it were him thousands of years ago, he might have chosen to fight him. Back then, he wouldn't have allowed a powerful mage to threaten him and Asgard.

The God-King then revealed a satisfied smile.

"Excellent, excellent!" He laughed loudly. "Now I can confidently entrust this matter to you."
