How can a police officer get a promotion and a raise?

Achieve performance targets, get promoted by your boss, or directly use your financial power.

All three of these methods are quite difficult for ordinary people, but if you really want to be picky, Lucius still thinks that a simple and reliable exchange of benefits is the safest way.

It's impossible to achieve the performance targets. In Gotham, you might have the life to earn them but not the life to redeem them. Even if you do accomplish some major tasks, you'll probably only be able to realize your honors while lying in a graveyard.

Lucius only wanted to survive and become stronger, and incidentally make some progress in the police department. He had no other ideas and did not believe that he had the ability to change Gotham.

Therefore, he doesn't want to interfere with either the underworld or the legitimate world. Under such circumstances, relying on money to advance is naturally the safest option.

"If you want a promotion, you have to make money first..."

Looking at the towering Wayne Corporation before him, Lucius sighed softly in admiration.

If he had the same level of wealth as Bruce Wayne, wouldn't it be incredibly easy for him to get promoted in the police force?

It's true that Sheriff Gordon is usually very upright, but it's not uncommon for Gotham's police officers to resort to extreme measures due to a lack of money.

If Lucius can provide the police department with a steady stream of income, he will naturally be admired by the entire department, and a promotion will be a sure thing.

"Looks like making money needs to be put on the agenda..."

Having figured out his "promotion path," Lucius walked through the company's doors.

Perhaps because of his attire, the security guards at the entrance did not stop him, but instead allowed Lucius to go directly to the front desk.

"Hello, I'm Lucius, a Gotham City Police Department officer. I'd like to meet with the president of Wayne Enterprises."

Facing the receptionist in uniform, the police officer stated his purpose directly.

"You wish to see the CEO? Do you have an appointment?"

Although she was dealing with a Gotham police officer, the receptionist remained calm and asked Lucius for basic information as if he were a regular customer.

"No, but I was thinking... if you put my name on the list, perhaps Mr. Wayne would be willing to meet with me?"

Although they never actually met, Lucius had never even seen Batman once since arriving in this world.

However, it was clear that the other party had been watching him for a long time, and had even smuggled his tracking device into the equipment that Sheriff Gordon had provided him with, making a big use of him.

Lucius didn't know why Batman had targeted him, but since he was already being watched, he felt there was no point in hiding it anymore.

He knew the other party's identity, and the other party had probably already thoroughly investigated his background.

In order to make life in Gotham more stable, Lucius didn't want to have too much contact with Batman, but it might be a good thing to confront him sooner rather than later, since he was always being watched by one side.

"But..."

Is it possible to get the president to meet this guest simply by giving his name?

With a look of disbelief in her eyes, the receptionist clearly did not believe Lucius's statement.

"Just say... Sheriff Gordon sent me to ask Mr. Wayne where the truck and cargo went."

"..."

Her expression remained skeptical, but seeing Lucius's confident demeanor, the receptionist slowly picked up the company's internal phone and quietly explained the situation.

Information travels so quickly within this towering building.

Within a minute, a man in a suit stepped out of the elevator and slowly approached Lucius under the shocked and incredulous gaze of the receptionist.

Bruce's calm expression masked intense surprise. He had no idea why this new officer could recognize him.

Even Sheriff Gordon himself knew nothing about his identity; at most, he could only make some guesses, and it was impossible for him to tell the young officer directly.

The composed man maintained his calm expression, his deep, magnetic voice uttering a few words: "Shall we go upstairs to talk?"

"Yes, let's go, Mr. Wayne."

Faced with this face he had only ever seen on screen, Lucius gave a genuine smile.

......

Inside the CEO's office on the top floor of Wayne Group.

Bruce, sitting upright at his desk, looked at the new officer with a puzzled expression:

How did you come to the conclusion that I am Batman?

Bruce wouldn't be surprised that Lucius could recognize the special marker as belonging to Batman.

But he didn't understand why Lucius would connect Batman with himself. He even believed that he had already found the contraband.

"I also have my own intelligence sources... although they're no longer effective."

Sitting down on the plush sofa, Lucius looked around, impressed by the Wayne Group's wealth and power, as he entered an office of this size for the first time.

The CEO's office alone occupies such a large area in the very heart of Gotham.

It is said that Gotham City is led by four major families, and this seems to be true.

Tsk, those hateful second-generation rich kids, born with a silver spoon in their mouth!

"Do you have intelligence?"

From the moment this "special" officer entered Gotham City, Bruce investigated his background.

While even Bruce Wayne had to acknowledge that Lucius came from a respectable family, he shouldn't have such a powerful intelligence network in Gotham.

Moreover, as far as I know, this young man has probably fallen out with his family and is unlikely to receive support from his family's influence.

"Did your parents tell you?"

Bruce's expression turned serious when he mentioned those two people.

parents?

Holy crap? It had parents in its previous life?

Batman seems to recognize me?

But I don't recognize it! Damn it!

Suddenly the conversation drifted to completely unknown territory, and Lucius, sitting on the sofa, twitched at the corner of his mouth and responded with a series of "uh-huhs" and "yeahs."

"If that's what you think, then you're right..."

"..."

Isn't that right?

Was it not through the power of his family, but through the truth he uncovered on his own?

Judging from the embarrassment on the other person's face, Bruce realized that his reasoning seemed to be wrong. Unable to understand it for a moment, he could only accept this result.

"As expected of someone from the Maximus family..."

Bruce clapped his hands gently in admiration. He thought he had taken this young man who had come to his turf very seriously, but he never expected that his movements would be so clumsy in the other man's eyes.

"Well..."

The Maximus family?

Holy crap? What is this? It looks like my family name?

He maintained a calm facade, but in Lucius's mind, a million thoughts raced through his mind.

That damned predecessor... of all things to write in his diary, it was all about his scandalous affairs!!

He should at least have recorded some important family information and interpersonal relationships! How come there's not a single piece of this crucial information?!

So that kid from the past had a truly amazing background?

Boomerangs are that fast? Am I a second-generation one too??
