Chapter 38 Reminiscence

Since being betrayed by the leader, Xu Mingxi has been wandering alone in the Star Dou Great Forest, wary of everyone around her.

As he recounted his past experiences, he took out a box from his storage ring and handed it to the Grand Elder.

The elder took it, opened it, and was instantly stunned. Inside was a soul bone, and judging from its condition, it should be a left leg bone that was about 30,000 years old.

"Mingxi, where did this come from?"

A soul bone that's 30,000 years old is an extremely rare item even within the Star Crown Sect. With Xu Mingxi's strength, it's unlikely he could have hunted it down on his own.

Xu Mingxi looked at the 30,000-year-old soul bone radiating light inside the box and fell into a reverie.

All he remembers is that it was a clear day, with a beautiful night sky and twinkling stars.

He was originally sitting cross-legged in the center of the nest of a thousand-year-old Purple Moon Bear soul beast, meditating and cultivating.

However, a sudden loud noise interrupted his cultivation. Xu Mingxi walked out of the cave, lightly stepped, and jumped onto the treetop next to him.

As far as the eye could see, trees continued to fall, and a spirit beast resembling an ape roared and leaped up, slamming its fists down.

On the ground was a figure carrying a giant hammer. He stomped his left foot, the ground cracked, and the figure was lifted into the air. He swung the giant hammer, and the two collided, producing a huge roar.

"This giant ape should be around 30,000 years old, and that hammer should be the Haotian Hammer."

As Xu Mingxi muttered something, he quickly hid in the nearby woods. He saw that the Giant Ape had gained the upper hand in its clash with the Haotian Sect member, but instead of pressing its advantage, it was fleeing for its life in his direction.

Sure enough, Xu Mingxi, who was hiding behind the bushes, saw the man in black robes leap into the air and chase after the giant ape. Behind him, there were also several figures holding Haotian Hammers.

The giant ape seemed to be injured beforehand and was quickly caught up. The leader smashed down with his hammer, directly blocking it. The last sixth spirit ring on his body lit up, and the Clear Sky Hammer emitted wisps of black light.

He gripped the Clear Sky Hammer with both hands, raised it high, and slammed it down on the Giant Ape, forcing it to stop and waiting for the others to arrive. The Giant Ape collapsed in endless despair, transforming into a black spirit ring.

The leader of the Haotian Sect sat cross-legged on the ground, guiding his spirit ring. Just as he finished absorbing the spirit ring, a roar rang out, and a giant ape descended from the sky. It had a huge scar on its chest and was even larger than the previous one.

"The 80,000-year-old giant ape, run!"

At the command of the Haotian Sect leader, the others hesitated for a moment, but still decided to retreat. Unexpectedly, at this moment, the Swift Soul Master who had been flying in the sky and observing the surroundings exclaimed.

"That giant ape has a soul bone inside it, but we haven't had a chance to retrieve it yet."

The leader of the Haotian Sect turned around abruptly, and indeed, the left leg of the 30,000-year-old giant ape on the ground faintly revealed the light of a soul bone.

He had a slight headache, so he wouldn't touch the corpse of the spirit beast while absorbing the spirit ring, so as not to disturb the person absorbing the spirit ring.

Unexpectedly, an 80,000-year-old giant ape appeared at the last minute, and the 30,000-year-old one even broke its soul bone.

Now, the Haotian Sect faces only two paths: either fight against the 80,000-year-old giant ape, or lose this soul bone forever.

After much deliberation, the leader of the Clear Sky Sect decided to take action. The Giant Ape's soul bone was undoubtedly one of the most suitable for Clear Sky Hammer soul masters, and they only needed to temporarily stall the Giant Ape while Bai Er retrieved the soul bone. Once the leader's order was given, the other members of the Clear Sky Sect naturally did not object. Retrieving the soul bone would be a great achievement for the sect, significantly enhancing their status and access to resources within the sect.

The team leader's newly acquired seventh spirit ring lit up immediately, leading all the battle spirit masters forward.

As the giant ape sensed the aura of its son within the dark spirit ring opposite it, a tear welled up in its eye, its eyes turned red, and streaks of blood appeared on its body. It then lunged directly at the group.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Bai Er lit up his second and third soul rings at the same time. He flew, riding a swallow, and his figure swept past the giant ape's arm. Before the giant ape could react, he landed in front of the 30,000-year-old giant ape's corpse and slashed down with his sharp blade.

"Captain, hold on a little longer, I can't cut anymore."

The Swift Spirit has incredible speed, but it lacks offensive capabilities. Although Bai Er's weapon is sharp, it is still somewhat powerless against the thick hide of the 30,000-year-old Giant Ape.

By the time he dug out the soul bone, the leader of the Clear Sky Sect was beaten until he vomited blood. Bai Er wanted to retreat with the soul bone, but the 80,000-year-old giant ape tried to stop him. However, the battle soul masters held him back with their lives.

No one noticed that someone was hiding in the woods along Bai's retreat route.

Xu Mingxi, hiding in the bushes, never expected that as Bai Er drew closer, he hardened his heart, gathered starlight in his hand, and just as Bai Er thought he had escaped safely and smiled, the dazzling starlight flashed and shattered his head.

"You little thief, how dare you!"

"You have some nerve."

The Haotian Sect members watched as Xu Mingxi killed Bai Ai and took his soul bone. They were about to give chase, but were stopped by the crazed Giant Ape and could only watch him leave.

After defeating the giant ape, Xu Mingxi had already disappeared without a trace. They could only search everywhere and finally, based on their general memory, they drew a picture of what Xu Mingxi looked like at that time and issued a warrant for his arrest on the continent.

"That's about it. Don't look at me like that. It's really not that I wanted to provoke the Haotian Sect. Who knew that the Swift Soul Master would fly right into my face?"

Xu Mingxi felt the strange looks from her three family members and gave a half-hearted rebuttal.

So what if they're from the Haotian Sect? They can be killed, and their soul bones can be stolen. They can't possibly find us again.

Xu Mingxi was not afraid at all. Moreover, the Haotian Sect would not make a big fuss for a member of a subordinate family. All they wanted was this soul bone. Would they really dare to reveal the news about the soul bone?

The Blood River Treasure is incredibly tempting, but it remains to be seen which side this Soul Bone will ultimately belong to.

The Grand Elder also told Xu Mingxi about some of the things that had happened in the sect over the past three years. The biggest change was that Xu Mingxi's father had absorbed a 100,000-year-old soul bone and was now an 82-level Soul Douluo.

The soul tool he obtained in Jueyun Gorge was given to some people in the sect who studied it. They studied it for a long time but found nothing. They didn't dare to use it, for fear of damaging the spirit of the sect's disciples.

The only option was to forcefully break open the soul tool and retrieve the soul bone inside. After the sect leader identified it, it was determined to be a left leg bone that was about 70,000 years old and of spiritual attribute.

After discussion among the sect leader and elders, Xu Mingguang was given his fifth soul skill, Starry Bewitching Soul, which was derived from a 12,000-year-old Bewitching Butterfly. This soul bone was perfect for him.
