Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker

Chapter 744 Picking up the Dursleys and leaving

Chapter 744 Taking the Dursleys Away

The doorbell rang, but this ordinary sound made the Dursleys feel as if a terrifying creature was standing outside. The three of them sat there stiffly, none of them making a move to open the door.

Harry hesitated for a moment in the attic, then left the room and went downstairs.

It would be unrealistic to expect Hestia and Dedalow to deal with the Dursleys alone, even though they had already notified them that they were moving out.

"Good morning, Harry." As soon as Harry opened the door, a gentle voice came from outside. It was a short man wearing a light purple top hat.

"Hello, Dedalow," Harry said. He remembered this man; he had been struck by Death Eater magic and seriously injured during the battle at the Department of Mysteries.

But now it seems he has fully recovered and is doing very well.

Then Harry instinctively looked up behind him, searching for Hestia, another member of the Order of the Phoenix.

He was informed that the two men would pick up the Dursleys today to prevent them from getting involved in the battle between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix.

However, Harry did not see the black-haired witch from his memory; instead, he saw someone else who was all too familiar.

"Silon?" He stared wide-eyed in surprise. "You, how could you—"

"Surprised?" Siren looked at the dumbfounded Harry and explained, "The person who was supposed to come got held up by something else, so I told Mad-Eye Moody that I wanted to come and help, and he gave me this job."

"But Hermione said you were in danger too?" Harry frowned. "She told me the Death Eaters were looking for you, and you were only safe in Diagon Alley."

"That's not entirely true." Siren shook his head. "That person—you know who I'm talking about—just has more important things to do and doesn't want to focus his energy on dealing with Ollivander's protective magic."

"Once he gets rid of those who oppose him at Hogwarts and the Ministry of Magic, Diagon Alley won't be so safe anymore."

"But at least it's safe for now," Harry said. "Listen, Siren, you can't put yourself in danger to help me."

"I know what I'm doing." Celen waved his hand, seemingly not worried at all about running into Voldemort.

While the two were talking, Dedalo strode into the living room.

"Hello, Mr. Dursley, and Ms. Penny—I suppose you knew I would be visiting today, didn't you?" He greeted the group sitting on the sofa with a cheerful smile, but the Dursleys clearly didn't like this way of greeting, and none of them responded.

This was the first time that Siron had met Harry's aunt and uncle, as well as his cousin.

Just like I remembered, Uncle Vernon was round like a ball, and his face always had an angry purplish-red hue, like a purple onion placed on a winter melon.

In contrast, Aunt Penny was much thinner, wearing a simple orange top, and looking at them with a complicated expression.

And then there's Dudley—he's huge, with muscles as developed as a bodybuilder, making his leather jacket look taut.

However, his trembling appearance was really unbecoming of his large size.

"Dudley was once frightened by Hagrid's magic, and he's afraid of wizards," Harry explained quietly.

"So he's not afraid of you?"

"Probably because I can't use magic outside of school."

"That's true."

At that moment, Vernon Dursley was negotiating with Dedalow, but for some reason he suddenly changed his mind and didn't want to move anymore.

It's probably because I saw the news.

Celen noticed a meeting being broadcast on television, featuring a Muggle prime minister. Kingsley, impeccably dressed in a suit, stood not far away, along with two familiar-looking Aurors whose names he couldn't recall.

If Siren is not mistaken, this meeting is likely intended to reassure people, given the trouble the Death Eaters have caused in the past few days.

The most obvious of these is the gray fog that hangs over London—this is not normal fog, but fog created by Dementors, which makes people increasingly depressed and irritable.

It is said that crime rates in London have begun to rise sharply, and police stations and hospitals are overflowing with people.

Therefore, regardless of the reasons, the Muggle Prime Minister needs to provide an explanation.

Vernon Dursley probably believed what was said at the meeting and thought the matter was still under control, which is why he refused to move.

"Should we call Hermione over?" Celen asked. "She wants to help, but Mad-Eye keeps disagreeing."

“No need,” Harry said. “He’s changed his mind every single day for the past two weeks, and each time it’s been a huge hassle. I think Dedalow is enough to convince him.”

"Really?" Xilun looked over.

Vernon Dursley was still arguing with Dedalow, and he seemed to think that Harry was trying to get rid of them and then take over the house.

Dedalo was trying to reason with him.

"Mr. Dursley, Harry doesn't need to do that at all, and he doesn't lack a place to sleep. Many people would be happy to open their doors and welcome him into their homes if he wanted to; at least the Burrow would certainly accept him."

But no matter what he said, Vernon stubbornly refused to believe it.

"Do you need my help?" Siren asked. "Actually, I have an easier way to get them to change their minds again."

"No need, leave it to me." Harry ignored Siren's suggestion and walked over on his own.

"I'm afraid you've forgotten that I already have a house, and my godfather is happy for me to live with him. So what would I need this house for? For those pleasant memories?"

silence.

Vernon Dursley was stunned and speechless.

He was clearly well aware that Harry did have a past here, but it was by no means pleasant.

With Harry's help, the Dursleys quickly gave up and moved their pre-packed luggage to the car outside.

Vernon looked at Dedalow, who was sitting in the driver's seat, and seemed a little unhappy.

"This is my car," he said, his face flushed. "People like you—can you even drive?"

"Most people don't. Wizards generally prefer Apparition. Of course, some people like brooms," Dedalow said calmly. "But Death Eaters have infiltrated the Ministry of Magic and the Department of Transportation, so we should avoid using magic here as much as possible. That's why I specifically learned it, but thankfully it's not difficult."

Upon hearing that Dedalow could drive and would try to avoid using magic, Vernon's expression softened, and he began to beckon Penny and Dudley to get in the car.

As Dudley left the house, he glanced at Harry several times, seemingly wanting to say something, but was interrupted for various reasons.

After they got into the car, and after a moment of what seemed like a painful internal struggle, Dali opened his mouth, his face flushed.

Even after the car had driven far away, Harry wasn't sure if he had really heard Dudley say "Take care."
