Douluo Continent: Steadily Growing Stronger in Shrek Academy

Chapter 22: Participating in the Soul Fighting Tournament?

After class that day, Lin Chen and Zhou Mingxing found Xiao Xiao.

Lin Chen handed over a round ball and said, "This is a level 6 defensive soul tool that Mingxing and I jointly purchased. Safety comes first when we're out and about."

Xiao Xiao was deeply grateful for her two friends' concern for her safety, and thankfully Lin Xiaolei was there to comfort her.

"Xiao Xiao, this is for you." Lin Xiaolei also handed over a soul tool.

"This is an offensive soul tool called the Cauldron of All Things. It is as heavy as if it bears ten thousand heavy objects. You use a cauldron, so it suits you very well."

"Wow, Leilei!" Xiao Xiao threw herself into Lin Xiaolei's arms, burying her face in Lei's eyes and crying. In the end, Lin Xiaolei had to wipe away her snot and tears.

The next day, Chicken Leg Douluo Xuanzi led two generations of Shrek Seven Devils to Star Luo City to participate in the Soul Fighting Tournament. To be precise, he led the Shrek Seven Devils and seven cannon fodder to participate in the tournament, oh, and Wang Yan as well.

Lin Chen, on the other hand, continued to live his leisurely life in the outer courtyard.

Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye.

In the morning, Zhou Yi was teaching theoretical knowledge to the students in Class 1, but Lin Chen was absent-minded.

"Should I develop the Seven Kill Sword with lightning attributes?" Lin Chen wondered to himself. During class just now, Lin Chen had thought of Sword Douluo's line, "Seven Kill Thunder rises, a sword pierces the sky," which led to his later contemplation.

Furthermore, lightning has a certain restraining effect on evil spirit masters. The power of lightning contains the righteous energy of heaven and earth, making it most effective against evil spirit masters who can command beast souls in battle. (This is mentioned in the original work.)

"Never mind, let's wait for Teacher Wang to come back and ask for his opinion."

Lin Chen just stared blankly for the entire class period.

"Ring ring! Ring ring!" The bell rang as scheduled, and the students in Class 1 went with their friends to eat or to practice their skills.

Lin Chen was no exception, walking with Zhou Mingxing and Lin Xiaolei on their way to the cafeteria as always.

That's how Shrek Academy works. Starting from the Freshman Competition, the members of each team will become close partners in the future. Of course, there are a few with aloof personalities, but those are the exceptions.

At least Lin Chen wasn't like that. Although he didn't talk much, he wasn't the kind of person who disliked being in a group.

Just as Lin Chen and his two companions were getting their food, Zhou Yi found Lin Chen.

"Lin Chen, come to my office," Zhou Yi said succinctly.

Lin Chen nodded. Although he had some doubts, he still had to give his teacher face.

Upon arriving at Zhou Yi's office, Zhou Yi did not go in. Instead, she bowed slightly and said respectfully, "Elder Xuan, the person has been brought."

"Come in," a deep voice said.

Elder Xuan? Chicken Leg Douluo? What's he doing here?

Why are you coming to me for something after you failed to lead the team properly?

Lin Chen entered the office looking completely bewildered.

"You are Lin Chen?" Xuanzi spoke first, his gaze sweeping over Lin Chen as if trying to see through him.

"Lin Chen, this is a level 98 Title Douluo. He is very strong, and the bloodline in his martial soul has not been fully activated yet. If it is fully activated, he should be able to reach level 99." Qian Renxue said in Lin Chen's spiritual sea.

"I understand, Sister Renxue." Lin Chen responded within his spiritual sea, then addressed the outside world, "Yes, this student greets Elder Xuan."

"Not bad, you have such skill at such a young age. Come with me, someone wants to see you."

Before Lin Chen could react, Elder Xuan waved his hand, and his powerful soul force swept Lin Chen up. When Lin Chen regained his senses, they had already arrived at Seagod Island.

"Let's go."

Led by Xuanzi, Lin Chen arrived at the Sea God Pavilion.

Upon entering the Sea God Pavilion, Lin Chen felt as if he had entered a bizarre and wonderful world. A bright and sacred aura enveloped his entire body, elevating his soul power and spiritual power.

"This Tang San is quite classy, but undeniably, in this world, his strength is already at the top level," Lin Chen thought to himself.

"This is the Sea God Pavilion, the highest level of the entire Shrek Academy. All major decisions concerning the development of the academy are made here. Normally, as a second-year student, you wouldn't be qualified to enter here, but Elder Mu made an exception and allowed you in. You should be grateful, kid," Xuanzi said as they walked.

Lin Chen shrugged, thinking: It's better not to come; I'm already entangled in a bunch of troubles.

Xuanzi walked to a room, knocked on the door, and said respectfully, "Elder Mu, I have brought the person."

"Come in!" an old voice came from inside the room.

Lin Chen knew that it was time for him to perform again.

Upon entering, one sees an elderly man with white hair reclining in a deckchair, smiling as he watches Lin Chen.

Xuanzi didn't linger; he threw Lin Chen into the room and left.

Lin Chen instantly channeled his Oscar-winning acting skills, exclaiming in surprise, "You...you...aren't you the old man downstairs in the dormitory?" He then took several steps back and slumped to the ground, leaving Qian Renxue, who was inside his spiritual sea, speechless.

Even with Mu En's cultivation level, he couldn't see through Lin Chen's acting skills and replied with a smile, "It's me! Feeling the vibrant energy of you young people, like the rising sun, can make this old man live a few more years."

Lin Chen also stood up, bowed slightly, and said respectfully, "Student Lin Chen greets Elder Mu."

"Get up!" Mu En waved his hand, and his powerful yet gentle soul force lifted Lin Chen's entire body up.

"The reason I called you here is because of a sudden incident. The main Shrek Seven Devils were attacked by evil soul masters, resulting in 1 death and 3 injuries. The main force cannot participate in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Tournament, so I sent you as a substitute."

"Don't worry, young man. Your goal this time is to gain experience and learn something; you don't necessarily have to win the championship," Moon said calmly.

"Mr. Mu, why me? Is it just because Sister Lexuan gave me the recommendation letter?" Lin Chen asked, puzzled.

Moon didn't deny it, but continued, "Being favored by Le Xuan is only one thing. Also, you haven't joined any faction yet, have you? I hope Shrek Academy is your first choice."

Lin Chen did not answer; at this moment, silence was the best choice.

"No need for a quick answer. Your entry into the inner academy will be your answer. Even if you don't join Shrek Academy in the future, consider this trip to Star Luo City as a valuable experience for the academy!"

"Elder Mu, I am not an ungrateful person. Although I cannot give you a definite answer right now, I can guarantee that I will never do anything to oppose the academy in the future!"

"Good child! Actually, I have something else to say, unrelated to what we just talked about. Do you like Lexuan?"
