Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#249 - Snape: A stupid and stubborn girl
Jerry and his group traversed the dim secret passage, finally arriving at an open area. At that moment, the castle lights slowly illuminated, bringing light to this space.
“Professor Snape, what are you doing here?”
Seeing Snape, who had returned, the faces of the group were filled with confusion and surprise.
Just then, a thick layer of clouds slowly moved away, and the bright moonlight sprinkled down, casting mottled shadows on the ground. The moonlight softly enveloped them, draping them in a layer of silver.
Suddenly, Snape rushed forward and unhesitatingly shielded Jerry and Hermione behind him.
Seeing this, Black immediately stopped, extending his arm to block Harry, Neville, and the injured Ron, ensuring they wouldn't be harmed.
Harry caught a glimpse of Lupin's profile, which appeared unusually stiff in the moonlight. Then, his body began to tremble uncontrollably, as if an invisible force was eroding his sanity.
Snape calmly warned, “Lupin didn’t take his potion tonight! The situation is extremely dangerous!”
“Let me handle it, you all get out of here!” Sirius Black's voice sounded particularly firm in the tense atmosphere.
With a terrifying roar, Lupin's body underwent an astonishing transformation. His head gradually elongated, and his entire body rapidly stretched. His shoulders rose high, his face and hands were covered in thick fur, and his fingers curved into sharp claws. All of this appeared especially horrifying in the moonlight.
Crookshanks' fur stood on end instantly, and he retreated a few steps in fear.
The werewolf stood on its hind legs, its long mouth opening and closing frequently, as if roaring in anger.
At the same time, Sirius Black suddenly disappeared from beside Harry. Immediately after, a dog as large as a bear leaped out, charging straight at the werewolf. Just as the werewolf was trying its best to break free from the black dog's restraint, the large dog firmly seized its neck, doing everything to drag it backward, attempting to take it away from Harry and the others. The werewolf and the dog Sirius had transformed into fiercely bit at each other, claws scratching and tearing.
Neville, who had been supporting Ron, was scared out of his wits by the werewolf Lupin had transformed into. Ron, with a splint on his leg, was already unsteady on his feet. Now, in terror, he fell headfirst, crashing heavily to the ground with a dull thud. Then, he lay motionless on the ground, seemingly unconscious.
Immediately following, with a long howl and a low roar, Lupin broke free from Sirius' restraint and fled into the dark Forbidden Forest. The large dog Sirius had transformed into followed closely behind, also chasing in. Harry anxiously looked around, trying to find traces of Black and Lupin, but both had disappeared into the night, leaving only Professor Snape guarding them.
However, just then, a shrill bark and wail suddenly came from beyond their line of sight. It was the bark of a dog struggling in pain, a sound that tugged at the heart.
“Sirius!” Harry called out urgently, his eyes wandering in the darkness. Then, he decisively made a decision, “Neville, you take Ron and Jerry back to the castle first, I'm going to find Sirius!” As soon as he finished speaking, Harry shot off like an arrow from a bow.
“Stop, Potter! You must not act rashly!” Snape's stern voice echoed in the night sky, filled with unquestionable authority.
How could Harry listen to Snape? His heart was already consumed by Sirius' safety. Ignoring Snape's warning, Harry raced towards the direction from which the sound had just come.
Seeing this, Snape was about to chase after him when a sudden change occurred in the sky. A vulture swooped down like lightning, its sharp eyes locked onto the unsuspecting Jerry.
“Look out!” Snape exclaimed, his voice filled with urgency.
Jerry reacted quickly, rolling to dodge the vulture's deadly strike. However, the vulture's claws threw out a bracelet, which drew an arc in the air and accurately struck Jerry. With a soft whoosh, Jerry instantly disappeared from everyone's sight.
“Jerry!” Hermione cried out in horror, her body instinctively lunging towards the direction Jerry had disappeared. However, she could only helplessly watch Jerry vanish into thin air before everyone's eyes.
“Portkey!” Snape's voice was filled with shock and anger. “Another Animagus!”
At this moment, the vulture circled again, then landed on a branch, instantly transforming into a male wizard. A provocative smile was on his lips as he said contemptuously, “Don't worry, I won't take Jerry Green far. He's in the Forbidden Forest. If you have the guts, come and find him!” After speaking, he transformed back into a vulture, flapped his wings, and flew away, disappearing into the night.
Hermione's tears welled up as she tightly grabbed Snape's sleeve, her voice trembling as she said, “Professor, I have to go find Jerry! This must be the work of those thugs who attacked Jerry in the Forbidden Forest last time!”
Snape frowned tightly, forcefully grabbing Hermione's wrist, his tone firm and stern. “Granger, it's too dangerous right now. Longbottom, you take the unconscious Weasley back to the castle first. Granger, you too, immediately go and inform Headmaster Dumbledore!”
However, Hermione resolutely shook her head, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Professor, if I go back to the castle now, I won't be able to bear it! I have to go find Jerry!”
“Fool!” Snape was so angry at Hermione that he gasped for breath. I am a professor at Hogwarts!
“Longbottom, what are you still standing there for? Hurry up and take Weasley back to the castle!” Snape turned to Neville and sternly ordered. Neville was startled by Snape and immediately obeyed, shouldering Ron and hurrying towards the castle.
“Do you really understand Jerry Green? If you really understood him, you would know that he is much stronger than all of you combined!” Snape continued, “Even if you find him now, what can you do? Do you think you can help him? You might even become a burden to him!”
“I'm very clear-headed, and I know what I'm doing, you're right!” Hermione gripped her wand tightly. “Jerry always said I was too headstrong sometimes, and he was right. I don't want anything now, and I don't want to go back to the castle and wait for news. I just want to find him quickly!”
“Heh, what a foolish and stubborn silly girl!” Snape shook his head, standing there blankly staring at Hermione, his tone seeming to carry a hint of ridicule. He looked at the direction Harry had just disappeared in, hesitating, not knowing what he was thinking.
