Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#239 - Malfoy: I can't keep Jerry Green either, I said!
At noon, the Great Hall of Hogwarts was bustling with activity in front of the notice board. Jerry had just finished class and saw a group of students gathered there.
"Is there a new notice posted?" Jerry asked curiously, walking over to Hermione and the others.
"Hogsmeade! We can go again, next weekend!" Ron craned his neck, trying to peer at the newly posted notice. "What do you guys think?" he asked Harry and Neville softly as he returned to the House table. Of the group, only the two of them couldn't go to Hogsmeade, even though Neville had a permission form signed by his parents.
"Professor McGonagall has forbidden me from going to Hogsmeade!" Neville sighed dejectedly. "The security measures at school are getting tighter, and the professors are managing us more strictly. Harry and I probably won't be able to go!"
"It's okay, Neville," Harry said, patting Neville's shoulder lightly, then looking at Jerry. "Lend me the Marauder's Map again next week, Jerry. I scouted it out yesterday, and although most of the passages are guarded by professors, the one behind the one-eyed witch statue on the fourth floor is still unguarded, and the passage hasn't been sealed. Neville and I might be able to get to Honeydukes through there."
"But the most important thing is to avoid Snape," Ron said in a low voice, reminding Harry. "These past few days, I've felt like he's been watching you intentionally or unintentionally. If Snape catches you... Harry, I don't think Hogwarts has anything worse!"
"Don't worry, as long as I have the Marauder's Map, I can take Neville and sneak off to Hogsmeade to find you guys when Snape isn't on the fourth floor!" Harry said confidently.
"Harry, I still think this is really too dangerous," Hermione said, frowning with worry. She strongly opposed Harry's willful and reckless behavior. Last time, if Jerry hadn't stopped her, she would have told Professor McGonagall about the Marauder's Map.
"I still think you need to consider it carefully, Harry," Hermione said seriously, reminding Harry to think carefully. "The day of the match, Jerry was attacked by Sirius Black in the Forbidden Forest when he went to find Crookshanks, and he was injured!"
"If the person who was attacked that day wasn't Jerry, but any one of us, it would have been dangerous!"
"But Sirius Black broke into our boys' dormitory last time and even wanted to kill me, and I was still fine!" Ron retorted. "Harry also has the Invisibility Cloak, so he can just wear it. Anyway, there are no Dementors in Hogsmeade during the day!"
He turned to Harry and continued to persuade him, "How about it? Let's go, Harry! You missed so much last time, and you haven't even been to Zonko's! And the Shrieking Shack!"
Harry finally couldn't resist the temptation. He nodded and said, "Okay, maybe Ron is right, but Hermione, I'll be careful. I'll wear the Invisibility Cloak then."
"You..." Hermione looked at Harry angrily and pursed her lips.
"Hermione, don't worry," Jerry said, gently tugging at her sleeve and softly comforting her. "Have you forgotten about Hogsmeade last time? There will definitely be a lot of professors there besides the students. Sirius Black wouldn't be that stupid!"
He put down his spoon and smiled slightly, "Speaking of which, if he can still get caught even with the Marauder's Map and the Invisibility Cloak, then it can only mean he's too stupid."
Hermione sighed helplessly after hearing this, picked up her spoon, and began to enjoy her breakfast on her own, seemingly deciding not to get involved anymore.
...
Strolling along the streets of Hogsmeade, it was still as lively as last time. The shops on both sides were crowded with people, filled with the laughter of Hogwarts students.
"Almost there!" Jerry and Hermione rested briefly at Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop, then passed the Three Broomsticks Pub and set foot on the hillside leading to the Shrieking Shack. This most famous haunted house in Britain looked eerie and terrifying even in the daytime. It was slightly higher than the surrounding houses, with its windows tightly closed and weeds growing wildly in the garden.
"Even the ghosts of Hogwarts avoid it," Hermione said, leaning against the fence and looking up at the shack. She had even specifically inquired about it from Nearly Headless Nick, learning that the Shrieking Shack had once been inhabited by a group of notorious people, and now no one could get close to it, and all entrances were sealed.
"Actually, the Shrieking Shack isn't really haunted," Jerry suddenly interjected, his tone tinged with mystery.
"Really? Jerry, what else do you know?" Hermione turned to look at Jerry, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"I can't tell you now," Jerry winked, instantly transforming into a riddler. "But believe me, soon you will hear the truth about it from someone else."
Hermione glared at Jerry in dissatisfaction. Just then, they heard voices nearby. Someone was approaching the shack from the other side of the hill.
Soon, Malfoy's figure appeared in their sight, followed closely by Crabbe and Goyle.
Malfoy's tone was very arrogant, saying triumphantly to Crabbe and Goyle, "My father's owl should have news soon. He's going to court to tell them about the injury to my arm, saying it will take a full three months to recover."
"I really want to see that fluffy great oaf trying to argue to the judge that his Hippogriff is innocent. Really," Malfoy curled his lips into a sneer and continued to say to Goyle and Crabbe, "That beast is doomed, and Jerry Green won't be able to save it, I'm telling you!!"
After saying that, Malfoy's gaze suddenly caught sight of Jerry and Hermione. The mocking and malicious smile on his face instantly turned pale.
"Why is it you guys? Where's Weasley? I clearly saw him coming this way!" There was a hint of panic in Malfoy's tone.
"It's always just been Hermione and me here, but what do you mean by what you just said?" Jerry's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze sweeping over the three of Malfoy. His tone was gentle but contained an undeniable threat. "My abilities are indeed limited, but at Hogwarts..."
Changing the subject, Jerry suddenly said to Hermione, "This place is often haunted, right?" His eyes darted mischievously towards the pond behind Malfoy, a filthy pond with foul-smelling green silt accumulated in it.
"Ah! Right!" Hermione, who had been glaring angrily at the three of Malfoy, said in confusion upon hearing Jerry's question. As soon as she finished speaking, a wet mud clod flew out of nowhere and accurately hit Malfoy.
Malfoy was caught off guard by the sudden attack. His head tilted forward, and his pale golden hair was instantly covered in mud, dripping down continuously. He frantically wiped it off, while roaring angrily, "What was that just now? Who did it?"
Crabbe and Goyle, the two idiots, remembered Jerry's words and their faces turned pale.
Malfoy frantically looked around, his eyes reflecting the desolate scene of a deserted place.
"It flew over from there!" He said, wiping the mud off his face, his eyes fixed on a patch of open ground by the pond, about six feet away from the three of Harry wearing the Invisibility Cloak.
Crabbe staggered over, his long arms stretching out like a zombie, trying to catch the invisible enemy. Harry, Ron, and Neville cleverly avoided him. Ron quickly picked up a stick and tossed it lightly, the stick landing accurately on Crabbe's back. Harry couldn't help but laugh at the sight, laughing so hard that he bent over.
Crabbe hurriedly tiptoed, trying to turn around in the air to see who was teasing him in the dark. Then he closed his eyes and blindly pounced towards the laughter, but he didn't expect Harry to quickly stick out a leg and trip Crabbe. And Crabbe's big foot accidentally hooked onto Harry's Invisibility Cloak, and suddenly, the three of them were exposed.
As the Invisibility Cloak slipped off, Malfoy stared in astonishment at the heads of Harry, Ron, and Neville "floating" in the air. His eyes widened like copper bells, and he was stunned in place for a moment.
"Ah!" Malfoy pointed at the heads of Harry and the others and screamed, then turned and ran wildly down the hill, Crabbe and Goyle also following closely in panic.
Just then, a thin, emaciated black dog suddenly darted out of the bushes and bit at Malfoy's leg. Malfoy, already panicked, was even more frightened out of his wits. Goyle tripped him, and the three of them tumbled down the hillside in a mess.
"The... the Grim?" Harry was also startled by the sudden appearance of the black dog, his body trembling, and he blurted out.
"Get away, you stray dog!" Ron quickly picked up a branch from the ground and waved it to drive away the black dog.
The black dog hesitated in front of them for a moment, then re-entered the bushes and disappeared without a trace.
"Harry, wake up, that's just a stray dog!" Neville patted Harry on the shoulder, trying to calm him down.
"Is... is that so?" Harry swallowed, trying to calm his inner fear.
"You have to run quickly," Jerry stepped forward and reminded them, "If Malfoy tells Snape, you'll be in trouble!"
"Yes, that's right!" The fear of Snape quickly overcame Harry's panic about the "Grim." They immediately turned around and hurried towards Hogsmeade.
"I knew something would happen!" Hermione sighed helplessly, watching the backs of Harry and the others. "I hope they can get past Professor Snape!"
