Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#230 - Reason, how can you make me reasonable?
On the first day of the Christmas holiday, most of the students at Hogwarts embarked on their journeys home to enjoy the joyous time of reuniting with their families. Only a few students from each house chose to stay at school to spend this special holiday.
Early in the morning, Jerry had just climbed out of his warm bed and finished washing up when he headed briskly towards the Great Hall, ready for breakfast. However, before he even entered the corridor leading to the Great Hall, he heard Malfoy's provocative voice from afar, mocking Harry and the others with his sharp and sarcastic words.
Jerry didn't immediately step forward. Instead, he quietly hid in an unnoticed corner, leaned against the wall, and pricked up his ears to eavesdrop on their exchange.
"Black is out there enjoying his freedom while you're helpless, Potter. If it were me, I'd definitely seek revenge myself and hunt him down," Malfoy said arrogantly, a smug smile playing on his lips. "Just imagine how thrilled Black must have been back then!"
Then, Malfoy went straight for the jugular, deliberately imitating Black's tone (though he had no idea what Black actually sounded like), and continued his provocation with a shrill, crazed laugh: "Success, Master! The Potters foolishly made me their Secret-Keeper."
Leaning against the wall, Jerry listened to Malfoy's words, quietly poked his head out to look at his arrogant and suicidal demeanor, and couldn't help but give him a thumbs up! When it comes to accurately triggering Harry, you're the professional, Malfoy!
Malfoy's words struck Harry's heart like a heavy hammer, instantly turning his face ashen. An unprecedented hatred, like a venomous poison, spread throughout his body, making him feel an uncontrollable anger and pain.
Ron couldn't contain his anger either, and he shouted at Malfoy, "Shut up, Malfoy, you pile of rotten dog dung! Don't forget, your father was a Death Eater too, and one of Voldemort's core members!" His words were filled with rage.
"Weasley, don't talk nonsense. That's slander! My father was only forced to join the Death Eaters, plus he was under the Imperius Curse. The Ministry of Magic and the Aurors conducted a thorough investigation and didn't convict my father. Are you questioning their professional judgment?"
"Oh, speaking of which, I vaguely remember your father working for the Ministry of Magic! Perhaps part of his salary comes from the generous funding of our Malfoy family!"
"So, Weasley, you should be grateful, grateful for my father's generous annual donations to the Ministry of Magic, so that your family doesn't starve to death!"
Ron's face flushed red with anger at Malfoy's arrogance, and he clenched his teeth, ready to punch Malfoy's arrogant face, but Harry, who was suppressing his anger, stopped him, because he saw Snape heading their way!
"Malfoy, don't think that having money means you can do whatever you want!"
"Sorry, having money really does mean you can do whatever you want!" Malfoy smiled smugly.
"What are you all doing here?" Snape frowned, emerging from the crowd with a gloomy expression. Seeing this, the smug look on Malfoy's face grew even stronger.
"Professor Snape," Malfoy spoke first, putting on a victim's act, "Weasley not only slandered me for no reason, but also tried to attack me. Look at my arm, it hasn't healed for long!" After speaking, he glanced provocatively at Harry and Ron.
Upon hearing Snape's voice, Jerry quietly left the scene and chose another route to the Great Hall. When he arrived, Hermione and Neville were already sitting at the long table, enjoying breakfast.
Jerry leisurely sat down, took his breakfast, and even enthusiastically discussed with Hermione and Neville the plan to go ice skating on the Black Lake later. However, Neville shook his head and refused, saying that he was clumsy and would definitely fall badly on the ice.
Soon, Harry and Ron arrived at the Great Hall.
"Why do you two look so awful?" Hermione asked, looking at Harry and Ron's faces. "Are you sick or have a cold?"
"Do you know? Whenever a Dementor gets close to me, I see terrible images and hear terrible sounds," Harry took a deep breath, paused, and continued, "I hear my mother screaming, begging Voldemort. If you heard your own mother screaming like that before she died, you wouldn't forget it easily either."
"Harry, don't do anything rash!" Hermione urged in a panic. "The Dementors will catch Sirius and send him back to Azkaban. He deserves it!"
Harry, however, seemed even more stubborn: "But you also heard Fudge's words, Black is different from others, Azkaban has little effect on him. For him, it's not a terrible punishment."
Ron retorted angrily, "You're willing to listen to Malfoy but not accept our advice? Have you ever thought about what Peter Pettigrew's mother got after Black killed him? My dad told me she only got a first-class Order of Merlin, and Pettigrew's finger in a box. That was the largest piece of remains they could find. Black is a crazy murderer, Harry, he's very dangerous!"
"And Malfoy would love to see you end up like Pettigrew, blown to bits! Harry, you need to wake up. Malfoy just wants you to lose your life before the Quidditch match." Ron was so anxious that he wanted to slap Harry twice to wake him up.
"Harry, I beg you," Neville tugged at Harry's sleeve nervously, pleadingly, "Please be reasonable. Your mom and dad definitely wouldn't want to see you get hurt, right? They definitely wouldn't want you to risk your life to find Black!"
"Reason? How can I be reasonable?"
Harry said irritably, "Because of Sirius Black's betrayal, I never even met them, never spoke to them," Harry said decisively.
"Jerry's the same! He even stayed in an orphanage for more than ten years!"
Jerry: ...
Misclick, we're not the same ~
In a moment of silence, Jerry quietly fed Crookshanks water. Crookshanks stretched contentedly under Jerry's gentle stroking, lazily flexing his claws.
"What are you planning to do to find Sirius Black?" Jerry asked after a moment of silence. "Dumbledore and so many professors at the school haven't found him. Do you think you're better than them and can find Black?"
Jerry's words left Harry speechless, and a sense of confusion welled up in his heart. Yes, after saying so much, the most important thing is, where should I go to find Sirius Black?
Ron and the others also breathed a sigh of relief. Right!
Harry, don't be silly, we know what level you're at? Headmaster Dumbledore can't find Black, how could you possibly find him!
Of the people at the long table, except for Jerry, probably everyone else had overlooked the existence of the Marauder's Map. Whether Sirius found Harry, or Harry found Sirius through the map, or Peter Pettigrew, Jerry didn't care anymore, he had already arranged everything!
"I say," Ron said, clearly wanting to change the subject, trying to make his tone sound lighter, "It's our holiday time! Why don't we go see Hagrid at his hut? It's been a long time since we visited him!"
"Okay," Harry sat up straight and said, "I can also ask him why he never mentioned Black when he used to tell me stories about my mom and dad!"
Clearly, continuing to discuss Black was not what Ron wanted.
"How about we find a wizard's chess set to play?" Ron quickly suggested. "Or Gobstones would be good too. Percy left a set at school."
"No, let's go to Hagrid's." Harry said firmly. Then, he pulled Ron and Neville, and the three of them went back to the dormitory to get their cloaks, left the empty castle, and quietly headed towards Hagrid's hut.
