Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#204 - Snape's Warning
"Silence!" Snape commanded, his eyes sweeping sharply across the entire classroom. The previously noisy environment instantly fell silent.
"Sit down, all of you. What are you two still standing for?" Snape glanced coldly at Harry and Ron, whose faces were full of anger, his tone revealing obvious impatience. "Disrupting classroom discipline, two points deducted from each of you!"
"Professor Snape, we didn't..." Harry wanted to argue, but before he could finish speaking, Snape waved his hand to interrupt him.
"Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, talking back to a professor, another two points deducted!"
The Gryffindor students nearby quickly pulled Harry and Ron down, urging them to sit down quickly, otherwise Gryffindor's score board would become negative at the start of the semester.
"Today, we will be brewing a brand new potion—the Shrinking Solution." Seeing Harry and Ron sit down, Snape turned and walked to the podium, beginning his lecture. Soon, the students were busy, starting to process the ingredients and prepare to brew the potion.
Malfoy deliberately placed his cauldron next to Harry and Ron's, so that the three of them were at the same table, preparing the ingredients together.
Snape paced around the classroom, occasionally stopping in front of each student's cauldron to carefully check their progress. Before long, his gaze fell on Jerry, who was in the corner by the wall. He saw Jerry and Hermione with their heads lowered, whispering to each other, not knowing what secrets they were sharing.
"It seems that brewing the Shrinking Solution is not difficult for you two. Then, let me see how the potion brewed by Mr. Green, whose 'reputation' has greatly increased among the various families recently, turns out to be!" Snape strode to Jerry and Hermione's table, but found that the two of them had not noticed his arrival at all. He frowned and knocked on the table with dissatisfaction, his voice cold and hoarse.
"Sorry, Professor, we were just discussing something related to studies, and we were too focused and didn't notice you!" Jerry explained nonchalantly, without changing his expression.
Hearing this, Snape's eyes shifted between Jerry and Hermione, and when he saw Hermione's cheeks flushed with shyness, he couldn't help but snort softly. Then, Snape picked up a potion spoon and leaned over to check the potion in their cauldron.
Jerry and Hermione's brewing progress far exceeded the others, and a portion of the potion in the cauldron had already turned a bright, dazzling green.
"Just barely passable. A potion brewed according to the book, ordinary and without any highlights!" Snape's evaluation was merciless. "A mediocre work!"
Jerry: Hehe!
"I must remind you that reputation is not always a symbol of glory. Sometimes it can become a burden, or even a source of danger. For example, someone in the classroom..." As Snape spoke, his eyes turned to Harry at the front of the classroom, the disgust in his eyes undisguised. It was a look of disgust that only appeared when facing Harry's face.
"In addition, there is one more thing I must warn you about. It's best to stay away from someone, even if he seems harmless and gentle now."
"Professor, I'm having a little trouble!" Malfoy's voice suddenly rang out. Snape glanced at Jerry, seeming to want to say something more, but ultimately left quickly.
"Who do you think Professor Snape was referring to when he told us to stay away from someone?" Hermione looked at Jerry beside her and asked curiously, "Could it be Professor Lupin? Did they know each other before?"
Jerry shrugged casually, answering in an ambiguous tone, "Who knows!" His voice was like a breeze, lightly drifting past Hermione's ears, making it difficult to grasp his true thoughts.
"Professor," Malfoy called out hurriedly as Snape approached, his voice with a hint of urgency, "I need someone to help me prepare these daisy roots, because my arm..." He paused deliberately, seeming to want to gain sympathy.
Snape raised his head, glanced at Malfoy's arm, and said coldly, "Weasley, you prepare those daisy roots for Malfoy."
Hearing Snape's words, Ron muttered to Malfoy in dissatisfaction, "There's clearly nothing wrong with your arm."
Malfoy laughed triumphantly. He sat at the end of the table and said to Ron, "Weasley, didn't you hear what Professor Snape just said? Quickly prepare these daisy roots for me."
Ron helplessly grabbed a knife and dragged Malfoy's daisy roots in front of him. He deliberately cut the roots into a mess, with different sizes.
"Professor Snape," Malfoy said, deliberately dragging out his tone, "Weasley has ruined all my ingredients."
Snape walked to their table and looked down at the messy ingredients. His face, framed by greasy black hair, gave Ron a malicious smile.
"Weasley, exchange your ingredients with Malfoy," Snape's voice was cold and firm.
Ron was stunned. He had just spent a quarter of an hour carefully cutting his roots into evenly sized pieces, but now he was forced to exchange them with Malfoy.
"Hurry up and exchange," Snape urged in his most aggressive voice when he saw that Ron hadn't moved.
Ron sighed helplessly and could only push his neatly cut daisy roots in front of Malfoy, then picked up the knife again, preparing to continue processing the ruined roots.
"Professor, this fig in my hand also needs to have its skin peeled off," Malfoy's voice was cunning and malicious, with a triumphant smile on his lips.
Snape glanced at Harry, his eyes filled with disgust, and then said coldly, "Potter, you help Malfoy process this fig and peel off its skin."
Harry glared at Malfoy, then took the wrinkled fig from Malfoy's hand and deftly peeled off the skin, finally throwing the peeled fig to Malfoy at the end of the table.
"Thank you both!" Malfoy said, the smug look on his face even more pronounced, "Finally, Potter, help me slice the caterpillars!"
"Wait, Malfoy, I will definitely make you suffer some real injuries!" Harry looked at Snape, who was standing in front of Neville's cauldron, then turned to look at the triumphant Malfoy and said in a low voice.
"Longbottom," Snape said coldly, holding a spoon and slowly scooping up a spoonful of orange potion, then pouring it back into the cauldron, making sure that every student around could see clearly, "Tell me, what exactly does it take to penetrate that stubborn elm brain of yours? Haven't I made myself clear enough? Just a little leech juice is enough! How else do I need to express myself for you to understand?"
Neville's face turned red, his body trembling, almost about to cry.
Snape was unmoved and continued in a gloomy tone, "Longbottom, if your potion is still this color at the end of this class, I will feed the potion you brewed to your toad and see what happens."
"Poor Trevor!" Neville whimpered, his eyes full of helplessness.
