Hogwarts: I will not become the Dark Lord
#135 - Hermione: Sneak Attack
"Hermione, how are you?"
This morning, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff had Herbology together, so Jerry and Hermione were not in the same class.
When he heard that Hermione had been attacked, he immediately put down his work, a strong sense of urgency surged in his heart, and he rushed out of the classroom, dashing towards the hospital wing at all costs.
The sound of footsteps and hurried breathing echoed in the corridor, accompanied by the rhythm of his heartbeat.
Although Jerry knew that Hermione had the Phoenix Tears necklace he had given her for protection, he was still a little flustered and worried at this moment.
Inside the school hospital wing, Jerry looked at the little witch in front of him, who had lost her former radiance and was pale, his voice trembling slightly.
He rushed to Hermione's bed in a few steps and took her cold hand.
His palms were sweating, and even his fingernails revealed a nervous paleness.
Hermione shook her head slightly, gently embraced Jerry, and rested her head gently on his chest.
She tried to dispel his worries with a smile, and said softly, "I'm fine, Jerry, you don't have to worry.
Thanks to the necklace you gave me, it saved my life."
"However, the necklace seems to have some cracks," Hermione said softly, carefully taking off the necklace covered with tiny cracks from her neck and handing it to Jerry.
"As long as you are safe and sound, leave the necklace to me.
I will find a way to repair it," Jerry said, hugging Hermione tightly, gently wiping away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and comforting her.
"What exactly happened today?
Weren't you going to Herbology class with Harry and the others?" Jerry asked impatiently after Hermione's emotions stabilized a little.
Hearing Jerry's question, Hermione's eyes revealed deep fear.
"It's the Basilisk, it must be!" Her voice trembled, obviously extremely frightened.
"Don't be nervous, Hermione, speak slowly," Jerry said softly, stroking her hair, trying to soothe her uneasy emotions.
"Jerry, do you remember when Harry said he could speak Parseltongue during the Duelling Club!" Hermione took a deep breath, suppressed the unease and anxiety in her heart, handed Jerry the paper in her pocket recording the Basilisk's information, and then slowly opened her mouth and said, "And every time after the attack, groups of spiders can be found at the scene.
They are not the murderers, but are running for their lives!
The Basilisk is the natural enemy of spiders!"
"Did you find this in the library?" Jerry looked at the pages torn directly from the library books, speechless for a moment, then quickly put away the paper, preparing to destroy it later, because he was afraid that after Mrs. Pince saw it, Hermione would not be able to enter the library to read books for the next few years.
"I've been looking in the library for several days, and I just found it today.
I was just about to go find you, but unfortunately I encountered the Basilisk's attack on the way!" Hermione nodded, and when she mentioned the Basilisk, she obviously tightened her grip on Jerry's hand.
"Jerry, did you... already know about these things?" Hermione asked cautiously, frowning.
She noticed that, apart from the brief panic Jerry showed when he first asked if she was injured, Jerry seemed unusually calm most of the time, even when he heard the news that a Basilisk had appeared at Hogwarts.
This made Hermione couldn't help but suspect whether Jerry and Professor Dumbledore had already noticed something.
"It's just a guess!
But this time, thanks to your help, Hermione," Jerry raised the page in his hand, and a gentle smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
"Really!" Hermione exclaimed excitedly when she heard Jerry's words, wrapping her arms tightly around Jerry's waist, as if afraid of losing him, and then whispered, "It's so good to be able to help you, Jerry!"
Just as the two were talking, noisy footsteps came from the corridor outside the hospital wing.
Hermione and Jerry quickly separated and tidied up their slightly messy clothes.
Before long, Harry and his friends, as well as several of Hermione's roommates, rushed into the hospital wing.
Seeing that Hermione was safe and sound, chatting and laughing with Jerry, they all breathed a sigh of relief.
Then, they all asked Hermione questions, trying to understand more details about the attack, especially about the situation of the murderer.
Hermione observed the terrified expressions on everyone's faces, and after thinking for a moment, she shook her head gently.
At this moment, telling them about the existence of the Basilisk would only increase their panic, and would not help solve the problem in any way.
"I fainted at the time and didn't see what attacked me, but fortunately the necklace Jerry gave me protected me, so you don't have to worry, I wasn't injured!"
"It's good that you're okay!
We were scared to death when we heard Professor McGonagall say that you and Penelope had both been attacked and hospitalized!"
"Especially Percy, he was terrified.
Penelope is a Ravenclaw prefect, and he probably thought before that that thing wouldn't dare to attack prefects."
"Professor McGonagall also said that all students must return to their own house common rooms before 6 pm, and no students may leave the dormitory after that time.
Teachers will accompany each class, and students may not use the lavatories without a teacher present.
Also, all Quidditch training and matches have been postponed, and all evening activities have been cancelled."
"That's right, that's right!
"Mr. Green, you have to leave too!
Professor Dumbledore is looking for you, you have to go to the headmaster's office," Madam Pomfrey said to Jerry after driving Harry and the others out of the hospital wing.
"Madam, I understand, I'll go right away!"
Hearing this, Madam Pomfrey nodded and turned to leave the ward.
"I have to leave for a while, Professor Dumbledore is looking for me, it should be about today's attack.
I promise you, I won't go anywhere after I come out of the headmaster's office, I'll come back and stay with you!" Jerry said softly to Hermione, who was grabbing the corner of his clothes, his voice full of tenderness and firmness.
"Okay," Hermione murmured softly, then suddenly sat up, hugged Jerry tightly, and gently planted a kiss on his cheek.
Her face instantly flushed red, like a startled deer, and then she quickly shrank back into the quilt, shyly concealing her affection.
Jerry's eyes widened, and he was stunned in place for a moment, completely unable to react.
This sudden kiss caught him a little off guard.
"Your movements are too fast!
You 'sneak attacked' while I wasn't paying attention, right!
I wasn't prepared at all," Jerry thought to himself, "What a loss!
I didn't feel anything yet!
And it's over!"
