3. An eight-year-old's body craves the nutrients of meat (3/10)
A gust of wind blew.
The branches swayed, and grass and leaves flew up.
When Mars woke up, it was still evening, and the sky was filled with red clouds.
He rubbed his eyes and sat up. Ron had found a thick wooden stick somewhere on the grass and was swinging it with both hands, chopping it vertically again and again.
His full head of black hair was soaked with sweat, and it was impossible to tell how long he had been practicing.
Mars stared at him blankly.
Ron caught sight of him out of the corner of his eye, stopped what he was doing, wiped the sweat from his forehead, looked at him and smiled, "You're awake."
"Hmm, have you been exercising since I fell asleep?"
Mars stared at him blankly.
"Well, it is."
Upon hearing this, Mars looked at him with a hint of admiration, as if he were meeting his friend for the first time.
"I found some fruit, as a way of repaying the bread I had this morning."
As Ron spoke, he smoothed his wet hair upwards to avoid obstructing his view.
Mars then noticed a pile of fruit next to him.
He couldn't help but swallow, and his stomach rumbled at just the right moment.
He immediately picked up an apple and took a big bite, saying as he ate, "Did you pick all these fruits, Ron?"
"Ah."
Ron continued swinging his bat.
"Where did you pick them? The fruit trees around here must have been completely harvested."
Mars asked curiously.
"Hmm...we went a little deeper into the woods."
Mars paused, looking at Ron:
"Isn't that a place Dad and Aunt Mary forbid us from going? I heard there are many ferocious wild animals there. Ron, you... went there?"
Ron, still swinging his bat, had his back to him and didn't say a word.
"If Dad and Aunt Mary find out..."
Mars lowered his hand, which was holding the apple.
"You can just not tell them."
"Can……"
"Don't worry, I won't go again next time, this is the only time."
"OK then."
…………
The next few days.
Ron would get up early in the morning and venture into the mountains to start exercising.
He would come back briefly during breakfast, then disappear with Mars, only to return in the evening, drenched in sweat.
After a good night's rest, I went out full of energy again the next morning...
This went on for about ten days.
Harris spoke with Ron once one morning during that time.
After learning of his desire to become stronger.
Harris didn't say anything more.
That morning, after doing his basic workout, 200 push-ups, Ron checked his attributes.
Ron.
Age: 8 years old.
Qi and blood value: 21.
Sun Breathing Technique Mastery: 0% (Not Mastered).
"Sixteen days of extreme training, and my Qi and Blood value only increased by 3 points...?"
Ron was somewhat dissatisfied with the speed.
But actually, this speed is already considered fast for an eight-year-old child who is still in the early stages of physical development.
"The intensity of the exercise is sufficient. Although I can't fully utilize the Sun Breathing technique yet, even just a portion of it is enough to allow me to repair the fatigue and damage to my muscles at night."
"Right now, the main problem is the limitations of this body. It lacks nutrition. Bread and fruit alone are not enough for my needs. I need meat! Lots of meat."
Ron thought to himself.
But where can we get meat?
The mountains are still too dangerous for him with his current strength; he wouldn't be able to handle wild animals at all.
The sea... won't work either.
It seems the only option is the river.
Ron thought to himself.
We need to make a fishing tool as soon as possible.
Which is better, a fishing rod or a fishing net?
Fishing nets are definitely better; fishing rods take a bit too long.
As for materials, try looking around the garbage dump...
"Ron."
A voice startled Ron from his reverie.
He turned to look.
A tall, burly man with a full beard and carrying a large bag was standing by the roadside.
"Uncle Brian."
Ron exclaimed in surprise.
He was Old Man Harris's best friend, a fisherman in town.
"What are you doing here? Is Harris home?"
Brian said this as he walked towards him.
"Dad went to the city, he's not home."
As Ron approached, he immediately smelled a fishy odor.
"Uncle Brian, what do you need from Dad?"
"Haha, it's nothing, I just had a good catch on this voyage, so I came to give him a fish."
Brian laughed.
Ron's eyes lit up when he heard this.
He walked up to Brian, looked up at him, and said:
"Uncle Brian, do you have any fishing nets you don't need?"
"The unwanted fishing net..."
Brian was taken aback by his sudden question, then thought for a moment and said, "There are some torn and damaged fishing nets in the warehouse. Why are you asking about that?"
"Can I have it?"
Ron said expectantly.
"Sure, but what do you need all that junk for?"
"Fishing."
"Fishing? You can't catch fish with those lousy nets. Never mind, since you want it, you can just come to my place to get it later."
"Thank you, Uncle Brian. By the way, please don't tell Dad about this."
"Row."
