39. Making a phone call

Shirakawa: Be careful of what?

Nikaido: I misspoke. I'll explain it to you in detail tomorrow.

Nikaido was still typing when Akaza suddenly stood up from his seat.

"Cousin, have you finished eating?"

"Ah, um." Nikaido quickly turned off his phone and put it in his pocket.

"Let's go then."

"Where?"

“Come stay at my workplace for a while, you’ll like it there,” Akaza said.

Shirakawa sent several more messages, trying to find out what had happened, but the other party stopped replying.

The elevator doors slowly opened, and Kana Mito happened to be standing at the doorway.

The three greeted Mitsu Kana.

"Auntie Mido, where are you going?" Shirakawa asked.

"I'm going to the supermarket to buy groceries. I'm going to cook something delicious tonight, and you'll have to come over for dinner too," Aunt Meidu said with a smile, patting Shirakawa's head.

"Mom, you need to be careful," Mito Maki reminded her sweetly from the side.

"Mom's so old, she's not going to steal your boyfriend..."

"Stop talking, Mom." Mito Maki blushed and quickly leaned closer, trying to stop Mito Kana from talking.

The mother and daughter continued to playfully fight like that.

Midori remained silent, behaving unusually.

She should have been the one to go up and playfully fight with her mother.

"By the way, Shirakawa, could you give me your house key?" After the mother and daughter finished arguing, Mitsukana suddenly asked Shirakawa.

"What's wrong?" Shirakawa asked, not understanding why.

"No one's home here either. If Auntie has time, she can come over and help you clean!"

"No need, thank you Auntie." Shirakawa politely declined, after all, the phone showed that Auntie Mito was a dangerous person.

"Don't be so polite with me. I don't have much to do at home all day. You're a boy who has to go to school and keep the house in order. You definitely can't manage."

"It's okay."

"Let me test you. What kind of trash is used toilet paper? On which day of the week should you throw it away?"

Shirakawa was speechless for a moment. He then remembered that Japan also had to sort garbage, and some garbage had to be thrown away on specific days. He didn't even know what kinds of garbage there were.

"You'll be fined if you don't sort your trash properly," Aunt Meidu said with a smile, extending her hand.

And so, right under the noses of the Mito sisters, Shirakawa handed the spare key to Aunt Mito.

"Auntie will keep it safe." With that, Midori Kana put the key into her small wallet.

Hope so.

Midori Kana took the elevator downstairs to the supermarket to buy groceries. The Midori sisters returned to their own home, and Shirakawa also arrived at his own doorstep.

There was a piece of paper rolled up like a tube inserted into the doorknob.

Is it a flyer?

Shirakawa took it down, flattened it, and found it to be a strange white envelope.

I opened the envelope and found only a white card with a few large characters written in neat handwriting, along with some strange symbols.

I'm watching you &*@

Was this someone's child playing a prank?

Shirakawa gripped the card and looked towards the elevator lobby. Aunt Mido had already left, and the only sound in the lobby was the elevator running.

Looking to the other side, there is a long corridor where only a few families live.

Who put this card here? It's so strange...

Shirakawa felt a chill run down his spine, after all, he had really offended a few blond-haired guys. He tentatively knocked on the door and listened intently.

There was no sound from inside.

Insert the key into the keyhole, turn it slowly, and gently open the door.

There was no sign that anyone was coming in.

After confirming that no one was home, Shirakawa breathed a sigh of relief.

Back home, I closed the door and sat on the sofa. The once quiet room suddenly felt somewhat frightening.

Shirakawa turned on the TV and turned up the volume to make himself feel more comfortable.

However, it's still better to invite some acquaintances over, just in case some thugs show up and can lend a hand.

Calling the Mido sisters is highly unlikely. Given their infatuation with her, if she were to invite them into her home, she would most likely lose her chastity, and things could very well escalate to an irreversible point.

Nikaido didn't work either; Shirakawa sent her a message, but she didn't reply.

At that moment, Shirakawa suddenly remembered the card in his pocket.

I found it, took out my phone, and dialed the number on it.

ding~~~

"Hello, welcome to Cat Meow Meow Housekeeping Maid Shop. What services do you need?"

"The house is a bit messy, so we need a maid to clean it," Shirakawa replied.

"Would you like to open a blind box or specify a particular item?"

"What's the difference?"

"Opening a blind box means the store will randomly select a free maid to come during a time period you specify. If you specify a maid, it means your favorite maid will come. Blind boxes are definitely cheaper than specifying a maid."

It seems Shirakawa doesn't have any money.

Even if there isn't any, you still have to try to get some information out of them.

"Um, may I request an Akita maid?"

"Akita? Akita, she..."

A loud bang came from the other end of the phone. After a few seconds of silence, another woman's voice came through the phone.

"Hello, I am the manager of the maid cafe. May I ask how you learned about the identities of our maids?"

His tone was unusually cold and serious.

"Ah, I'm a friend of Ms. Akita. I heard she works at this shop, so I thought I'd ask her to help tidy up the place."

The woman on the other end of the phone sighed and replied, "Our shop doesn't allow maids to use their real names to protect their information security. Since you are her friend, please ask her what name she used when she was a maid, and then you can specify her name."

"Oh, okay. Um..."

The phone went dead.

Before I could finish speaking, the other party hung up.

The service at this maid cafe...

However, maids do need to keep their names secret to prevent unscrupulous employers from harassing them and affecting their normal work and life.

To some extent, I was indeed in the wrong first; I shouldn't have called Akita Maid directly.

But none of that matters. What is certain is that Akita does indeed work there.

Her tired appearance during class was probably due to the excessive workload of her part-time job.

The reason why she went to work at a maid cafe after finishing her teaching job remains unknown.

I'll try to ask her when I have some free time tomorrow. After all, she's also a potential target for corruption, and we need to get the purification potion to solve Maki and Sakura's problems.

But there is a problem that needs to be solved right now: who put the white card in that envelope?

Shirakawa thought about it and realized that although this was a last resort, it was the only way to do it.

Shirakawa picked up his phone and made another call.

"Hello, this is the Metropolitan Police Department of XX District. How can I help you?"

"Hello, this is Shirakawa. I think I'm being harassed."

"Please briefly describe what happened in your area."

“Someone put an envelope on my doorknob with the words ‘I’m watching you’ written in big letters, along with some strange symbols.”

Are you sure this isn't some kind of prank by your friend?
