The darkness contains a power that can destroy everything, far beyond what human power can resist. If the Red Earl were in his prime, he could withstand the flames for a long time while activating his Haki.
But if he is swallowed by darkness, he won't last long before being completely torn apart by the darkness.
Now, Earl Red felt as if his entire body was falling apart, and a sense of regret arose in his heart.
He was indeed too arrogant and underestimated the power of the navy, such a behemoth.
He was already in such a sorry state dealing with Kong, let alone adding Jig to the mix.
The Red Earl, who had always been a loner, finally experienced the feeling of being isolated and helpless, and now he was in dire straits.
Even so, Red Earl did not have the slightest thought of running away. Possessing such a strong Conqueror's Haki meant that the word "escape" was not in his dictionary.
Count Red straightened his body, black and red lightning emanating from him. He dusted himself off and said softly,
"Even if I die, I'll take one of them with me."
As he spoke, he fixed his gaze on Kong.
Compared to a fully charged Gig, Kong is definitely much easier to deal with.
Sora could tell that the Red Earl was going to fight to the death. He forced himself to stand up, and his fists once again condensed terrifying Armament Haki.
Just as the two were about to make their move, Gigg suddenly landed in front of Kong. He looked at the Red Earl opposite him and said without turning his head,
"Marshal Kong, you should rest for a while."
As soon as he finished speaking, the flames behind Giger's neck went out with a whoosh, and the Red Earl flashed forward at that moment.
The Red Earl was most proud of his speed, but this time, before he could even reach Gigg, he was stopped halfway by Gigg. His eyes widened in surprise, and he exclaimed...
"How is this possible?! How can you be so fast?!"
Not only him, but even Kong was shocked. He knew all too well how fast the Red Earl was, which was why he was having such a hard time and often had to rely on his body to withstand the attacks.
But now Giggs is showing speed that is no less than that of the Red Earl. Even if the Red Earl is not in good condition, this is still a very outrageous thing.
Combining Gig's black wings and the flames behind his neck, Kong's mind conjured up a powerful race that had disappeared long ago: the Lunaria race.
As the Fleet Admiral, Kong naturally knew many secrets, such as some records about the Lunaria race: when their innate flames are extinguished, their speed will receive a leapfrog increase.
In Kong's view, this race was simply the darlings of the heavens; their talent was no different from that of someone who had eaten a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit.
Count Red had no idea about any of this. Seeing his attack blocked, he tried to create distance and find an opportunity, but no matter where he appeared, Gigg would follow closely behind.
Two figures, one red and one black, flashed and clashed continuously in the space. The more the Red Earl fought, the more alarmed he became. He simply couldn't imagine that there could be such a monstrous talent as Gigg in this world.
Giger is only nineteen years old!
Count Red couldn't help but wonder what would happen if he, at nineteen, encountered Gigg? He probably wouldn't stand a chance against Gigg even if ten of him were in his element!
Giger was also marveling at the Red Earl's strength. After all, the Red Earl had just gone through a fierce battle, and it would be good if he could be half as strong as he was at his peak.
No wonder Red Earl could stand alongside Roger, Whitebeard, and others. If he hadn't insisted on being alone, it wouldn't have been difficult for him to form a Yonko-level pirate crew.
Chapter 117 Call it a day
While Gigg was fighting the Red Earl, a dog-headed warship had already docked at the shore of the island.
On the deck, Garp crossed his arms, the roaring sound emanating from the center of the island constantly ringing in his ears.
Dragon stood beside Garp, glanced at a warship also moored on the shore not far away, and said,
“Father, that looks like Giger’s warship.”
Garp nodded and said,
"It's his warship. Sengoku already told me. He also called Giger over. Giger was still in Mary Geoise at the time, which was closer to here than we were, so he naturally arrived faster."
At this point, Garp paused, looked into the dragon's eyes, and said earnestly,
“Dragon, I know you have some past grievances with Gig, but right now you’re just a new recruit without any rank. When you’re with Gig, you should address him as General Black Dragon.”
Long's face stiffened, and he responded awkwardly.
"understood."
Garp didn't say anything more to Rondo. He jumped off the warship and rushed towards the center of the island.
The dragon immediately transformed into a whirlwind and followed, while the adjutant Bogart led the soldiers on the warship behind them, though their speed was far too slow compared to that of Garp and his son.
Garp quickly followed the sound to the battlefield, but he was stunned when he saw the scene.
Aside from the naval officers and soldiers lying on the ground, Kong Zheng stood there with his arms crossed, looking as if nothing had happened. Anyone who didn't know better would think he was sightseeing.
Kong also saw Garp, waved, and said,
"Garp, you've finally arrived. The battle would have been over if you had been any later."
Garp frowned, about to speak, when several loud bangs drew his attention. He turned his head and saw two ghostly figures darting back and forth in the distance. Each collision created a deep crater in the ground, and powerful lightning raged relentlessly.
He looked closely and finally confirmed the identity of the person fighting the Red Earl: it was Gigg.
A gust of wind swept by, and the dragon materialized, standing beside Garp. The moment it arrived, it sensed the clash of two terrifying auras, but it couldn't clearly see the two combatants. It could only ask Garp, who was standing nearby, "..."
"Father, how is the situation now?"
Garp's expression looked very strange. He didn't respond to the dragon, but just muttered to himself.
"Looks like we came all this way for nothing."
This left Long completely bewildered. He opened his mouth, wanting to ask what was going on, when suddenly, a red figure descended from the sky and crashed heavily into the ground with a loud bang.
Long hurriedly looked over and saw a "bloody man" struggling to crawl out of the pit amidst the billowing smoke and dust. Then he saw Giggs flapping a pair of large black wings and slowly descending from the sky.
Giger first glanced at the Karp father and son, then walked step by step toward Redfield across the street.
Redfield wore a bitter smile. He could feel that his body had reached its limit and knew that he had lost.
Watching Gigg approach relentlessly, his body swayed twice before he managed to steady himself. He then slowly opened his arms, revealing his chest, and shouted at Gigg.
"Come, Black Dragon! Take my life!"
Giger suddenly stopped, tilted his head, and said,
"Why would I take your life? My only task is to bring you back."
Upon hearing this, Redfield was alright, but Sora, Garp, and Dragon were completely dumbfounded.
Everyone in the Navy knows how ruthless Giggs is when it comes to dealing with pirates; at least until now, no pirate has ever been captured alive by him.
Those captured are usually left with only a head; most pirates are completely wiped out.
But now, judging from Giger's words, he actually wanted to capture the Red Earl alive, and the three of them began to doubt whether the person standing there was actually Giger himself.
Count Red frowned and said,
"Are you humiliating me?"
Swish!
Giger appeared in front of Count Red in an instant and punched him in the abdomen. Count Red immediately spat out a mouthful of blood, his body went limp and he fell forward, his chin resting on Giger's shoulder.
His consciousness began to blur, and he heard Giggs's whispers in his ears.
"You didn't get to fight to your heart's content this time either, did you? Go to jail for a while first, and I'll come find you again."
With his last ounce of strength, the Red Earl asked in a trembling voice,
"Why, why..."
A smile played on Giger's lips as he spoke softly.
"It would be such a waste for a strong person like you to die like this. Don't you want to see the sea one more time?"
Count Red shuddered, wanting to respond, but his vision gradually blurred until he was completely plunged into darkness.
The wings on Giger's back transformed into darkness and retracted into his body. He hoisted the unconscious Red Earl onto his shoulder, turned, and walked to the still-stunned Kong, saying...
"Air Marshal, the capture mission is complete. May we return now?"
Kong snapped out of his daze, glanced at the Red Earl slung over Gigg's shoulder with a complicated expression, and nodded, saying...
"Let's head back. You've done a great service again; I've noted it down."
Giger smiled. He didn't care about any great achievements, because he had basically reached the top. No matter how great the achievements, they wouldn't be enough to get him promoted to Fleet Admiral.
What he wanted was prestige, and the Redfield on his shoulders.
While the group was talking, Bogart arrived late with a group of naval soldiers. Kong directly ordered them to wake up the unconscious naval officers and soldiers, and to carry those who could not be woken up back to the warship.
On the way to the warship, Long suddenly looked at Giger and asked,
“General Ji… Black Dragon, why didn’t you choose to kill Count Red directly? This seems inconsistent with your style.”
Count Red had already been handed over to the naval soldiers who came to clean up the mess by Giggs. He put his hands in his pockets, didn't even glance at Dragon, and simply said...
"Because I want to."
Dragon was taken aback by Giggs' words. His stubbornness resurfaced, and he wanted to press for more information, but Garp slapped him on the back of the head, silencing him.
Garp grabbed the dragon's ear and said,
"You can come back to asking this kind of question when you're old enough to go toe-to-toe with Redfield!"
Long Tie's face was ashen as he gritted his teeth and said,
