This is true. Before I started writing my last book, Chainsaw Man, I was advised to quit by editors from two different platforms, and that's why I had no choice but to come to Tomato. I was very familiar with the editors from both platforms, and their opinions were very consistent. To put it bluntly, even fans of niche fanfiction like Chainsaw Man and Ghoul would shake their heads at it. They could reluctantly give me a contract, but strongly advised against it. I thought that since that was the case, I might as well just write whatever I wanted on Tomato. But I didn't expect that each book would be better than the last.
You should know that I used to be a fantasy author, and I knew almost nothing about fan fiction. I'm the kind of person who loves reading Japanese anime but not fan fiction, so writing fan fiction was like groping in the dark for me, and I often wrote with an original mindset in mind...
Then I also want to complain about some issues with the Ghoul arc:
① There is a mistake in the setting, namely Tatara. Actually, based on the details in the original manga, Tatara should still be in the "Red Tongue Gang" in China at this time. However, this detail is so subtle that I forgot about it when I was writing. I only realized it after reading the original manga again (I have read the manga three times for writing this book, not counting the anime). Also, Hoji Kousuke should not have been a quasi-Special Class yet, because there is a detail that Hoji Kousuke partnered with Mado Kureo, and at that time, he was Hoji Kousuke's superior.
But by the time I realized my mistake, it was too late to correct it, so I had to stick with it and write Hoji Kōsuke as a semi-special class student, which made more sense. After all, I couldn't just delete the character Tatara, so I intentionally reduced Tatara's presence and didn't give him much screen time.
②The advantages and disadvantages of invincible novels: The "advantage" is that they are easy to attract readers, while the "disadvantage" is that they are easy to fall apart. Even without the "dual divine power" eye technique, Bai Ye's pure physical skills are invincible enough. Therefore, it is impossible to create any exciting moments through leveling up and battles. Readers will soon feel bored. This is why most invincible novels fall apart after a few hundred thousand words. They are either abandoned or have a bad ending.
Moreover, I've always written fantasy novels featuring underdogs, and I'm not particularly good at writing invincible stories. The fact that I've been able to write this book this far is largely thanks to the fact that I've watched too many Japanese anime and developed a daily writing style.
③ I feel that I am not satisfied with the writing of the important plot, namely the part about "sending the will". At that time, there was a lot of demand for updates, and I guess everyone regarded it as a major climax. Unfortunately, I had kidney stones and a cold at that time, and my poor condition affected the quality of the content. So I felt that the writing was just average.
Then, once the plot of storming the CCG headquarters ended, the quality of the subsequent content was not very good, and the anticipation plummeted from a high point to a low point, causing a wave of readership to drop. Although the current data is still relatively good, it could have been done better.
Actually, if we don't get into the plot of overthrowing "He Xiu" so quickly, writing about daily life can make it easier to follow the story. But writing too much about daily life would be like deliberately padding the story. I thought about it a lot and decided not to do that.
------
Next up is the second volume, "The Giants Chapter." I don't know how many readers will continue reading after the Giants Chapter begins, but I will try my best to write it well.
Although I've been released from the "blacklist" for the previous Chainsaw Man, I probably still won't be able to update three times a week for now. I'll continue to update two times a week for now, because I'm still working on the Titans arc, which takes a lot of time. I definitely can't just write whatever comes to mind on a whim. I'm afraid I'll mess up the writing if I rush to update three times a week.
Also, regarding the book title and synopsis, I will add a crossover anime tag to the synopsis. The book title cannot be changed for the time being; it will have to wait for the second title test at 100 million words.
Finally, let me mention the follow-up arrangements:
Needless to say, the Attack on Titan arc will continue, along with "Black Bullet" and "Akame ga Kill!" I haven't decided on anything else yet. (Maybe there will be a Dragon Raja arc? Because I plan to catch up on Dragon Raja; I've read some before but didn't finish it, and of course, I might even write a standalone Dragon Raja book.)
As for the specific order of events, it depends on the situation. Forcing everything to be arranged too early would make it easier for things to collapse and end up unfinished, so no conclusion will be drawn for the time being.
Thank you so much for reading this far!
Last but not least, I'm asking for a gift again. This is the last time I'll ask for a gift after the first volume ends.
Chapter 170 Attack on Titan [Titans Arc Begins!]
In that instant, Uchiha Byakuya and Yoshimura Eto felt a blur before their eyes, and a dazzling white light vanished in an instant.
When their eyes could see the surrounding scenery clearly, they found themselves in a completely different world.
Looking at the surrounding buildings, it felt as if time had instantly rewound a hundred years.
There are also massive city walls, 50 meters high, visible to the naked eye in the distance.
50-meter city wall
Without a doubt, they had crossed into the world of "Attack on Titan," and were even inside the walls of Paradis Island.
This is a world dominated by giants, and humans are nothing more than their food. A hundred years ago, the surviving humans built a 50-meter-high wall, sacrificing their freedom to keep the giants out. But is all of this really the truth?
"Tall walls...it seems this is the world of giants."
Yoshimura Eto also saw the wall in the distance.
Uchiha nodded slightly and said, "Yes, but I don't know which year we are in the world of giants right now."
"Don't you even know which year it was?"
Yoshimura Aite was slightly surprised.
"Yes, although I can travel between different worlds, the timelines seem to be random."
Uchiha Byakuya said.
Just like when he first traveled to "Tokyo Ghoul," it was also an unexpected timeline for him.
"I see... Speaking of which, could it be that you weren't originally from my world?"
Yoshimura Ete suddenly had this conjecture.
Because there are many suspicious points about Bai Ye, the biggest of which is her incredible abilities, which are not like those of people from her world.
"...That's right."
Uchiha Byakuya remained silent for a moment, but eventually admitted it.
"really......"
Since he had guessed correctly, Yoshimura Eto was no longer surprised.
Even after learning that Bai Ye wasn't from her world, she didn't feel anything.
What she cared more about was whether Bai Ye would know about her world in advance, like in the world of giants.
"So, you didn't already know a lot about my world before you came here, did you?"
Yoshimura Ete asked curiously.
She felt that this was quite likely.
Although many of Bai Ye's usual behaviors can be explained, it feels like this guy knows far too much, as if everything is under his control.
"Yes."
Uchiha Byakuya nodded again in acknowledgment, "I knew I couldn't hide this from you after all..."
Aite has a very sharp sense of awareness; he can detect many things from the slightest clue.
However, since Byakuya dared to bring Eto along to the world of Titans, he wasn't afraid that Eto would find out about these things.
"If you hadn't revealed those important secrets to me, I wouldn't have guessed such amazing things."
Yoshimura Ete knew very well that Bai Ye had already revealed enough secrets to her.
This is probably enough to prove her importance in Bai Ye's heart.
"But speaking of which, won't we have a language barrier here?"
At this time, Fangcun Eite suddenly asked.
"No, just use normal Japanese."
Uchiha Byakuya said.
"It's amazing that Japanese is used all over the world."
Yoshimura Aite's tone was slightly surprised.
Uchiha Byakuya didn't offer much explanation, because it would be too difficult to explain.
Because Byakuya Uchiha and Eto Yoshimura's attire seemed somewhat out of place in this world, their conspicuous appearance immediately attracted the attention of many Eldians.
"Those two people are dressed strangely. Who are they?"
"I don't know, they probably came from some rural area."
"But they all look quite good, so maybe they're descendants of some fallen noble family?"
"..."
At this moment, many people around were discussing Uchiha Byakuya and Yoshimura Eto.
Yoshimura Aite discovered that he could indeed understand what these people were saying, which he found quite amazing.
However, at that moment, a commotion suddenly arose in the distance.
Immediately following this was a deafening roar, and countless pieces of rock, large and small, flew through the air.
Everything happened so suddenly that almost everyone on the street was stunned.
Uchiha Byakuya's first reaction was that the colossal giant had destroyed the city wall; he had been deeply impressed by the scene when he first witnessed it.
However, his location was obstructed by buildings, preventing him from seeing the colossal giant.
However, based on the violent commotion just now, he had already determined the direction of the Colossal Titan by listening to the sound.
Uchiha Byakuya immediately took Yoshimura Eto and teleported to the top of a tall building. There they saw the colossal giant that had just destroyed the city wall in the distance, but the colossal giant had already begun to evaporate.
"Bertholdt's Colossal Titan? It seems we've arrived at the very beginning of the timeline."
Yoshimura Eto remained calm, completely ignoring the rubble flying from afar.
"Okay, let's forget about Berthold for now. We need to find Allen's house first."
The first thing Uchiha Byakuya wanted to do was to save Eren's mother.
"I think so too."
Fangcun Eite said.
"Let's just look for it by feel first..."
As soon as Uchiha Byakuya finished speaking, a huge piece of rock flew rapidly towards him.
Just as Yoshimura Eto was about to remind Uchiha Byakuya, she found that her body suddenly seemed to disappear, but her vision and consciousness remained.
Then she watched helplessly as the huge boulder passed right through her and Uchiha Byakuya's bodies...
She suddenly remembered that Bai Ye had also demonstrated this ability before, but she didn't expect that it could also make her do it.
The next moment, Yoshimura Eto felt her body return, and the feeling of her body not existing just now was very strange to her.
