His father, Lucius Malfoy, talked to him less often, while his mother, Narcissa Malfoy, talked to him much more often than before.

Narcissa's conversation with him was also strange; she told him not to restrain himself so much and to do things according to his own heart and his own ideas.

Draco felt somewhat bewildered by this, but he tried his best to process what Draco had said, reflect on what had happened, and try to clarify his own thoughts in order to decide what he should do.

Regarding Harry Potter's thoughts, from the moment his friend's invitation was rejected, he believed that a grudge had already been formed between the two, so he did not intend to make many changes.

It is for this reason that he and Harry Potter had a contest in today's Magical Creatures class to see whose hippogriff could fly higher.

It was for this reason that he made such an outrageous move after his defeat. His thinking at the time was simple: to cover up his defeat.

As for Wizette Lovegood, that was a completely different attitude from that towards Harry Potter;

There was no animosity between the two at the beginning. In fact, during the last summer vacation, Lucius even told him to get to know Vizette better.

Their longest period of contact was probably when they rode in a horse-drawn carriage at the start of school last year, and during the return trip after summer vacation, when he asked Wizette for help with his homework.

Although the time he spent with her was short, he occasionally heard news about Vizette from the professors or from various newspapers.

Draco had to admit that everything Vizette had now was something he had been instilled with and longed for since childhood—to become a person of fame and extensive connections.

Therefore, his idea about Vizette was to take Vizette as his role model and become someone like Vizette who could frequently appear in the newspapers.

……

Draco previously had another role model, namely his father, Lucius Malfoy;

In terms of action, he learned one thing from Lucius: to take the initiative to create topics of conversation in order to avoid awkwardness and embarrassment and to make the meeting go smoothly.

Draco changed the subject from Thestrals to, "Vizet, what courses have you taken?"

Vizette replied, “Ancient subjects like Nehemiah and arithmetic divination were also very interesting, and I was greatly inspired by them.”

“Arithmetic divination?” Draco frowned. “What kind of course is that? I heard it’s very different from divination.”

"It requires using mathematical calculations to judge things, which is quite a challenging course," Wizette explained.

“It doesn’t seem like… Wizards should be learning… subjects that aren’t their forte,” Draco murmured. “It doesn’t even sound like… magic?”

“It’s actually quite magical,” Vizette chuckled. “Through arithmetic divination, you can break some magical traps, which means you can become a spellbreaker…”

"After taking arithmetic divination classes, I was able to gain a new understanding and interpretation of magic from another perspective..."

"However, because we haven't been in contact with it for long, there are very few spells that I can reinterpret. So far, there is only one spell, the Illumination Spell."

Chapter 161 Past Minor squabbles

“A magical illumination spell?” Draco Malfoy asked, puzzled. “That should be a very simple spell, right? It doesn’t even require hand gestures… you can use it just by chanting the incantation.”

“Yes!” Vizette nodded. “Although it’s simple, from the perspective of arithmetic divination, there are some remarkable discoveries.”

"Have you ever thought about this? What is it that helps you, allowing you to produce light with just a 'flash of light' spell?"

"I think..." Draco looked bewildered, shaking his head and stammering, "I've never considered something like this before..."

Vizette didn't keep them in suspense, stating directly: "In arithmetic divination, I found an answer that stands the test of time, because of 'glory'!"

"Honor?" Upon hearing this word, Draco quickly realized, "The honor of the family?"

“Of course you can understand it that way, because ‘glory’ comes in many forms…” Vizet took out his wand, “It is hidden in our hearts, and we don’t even notice it normally.”

“As long as ‘honor’ exists in one’s heart, one can cast the Illumination spell…” He gripped his wand tightly and whispered the incantation, “Flash!”

As the incantation ended, a luminous glow appeared at the tip of the wand.

"This is the most basic illumination spell. Next, we need to... recall the 'glory' in our hearts, such as the moment we won the Quidditch trophy... Glow!"

……

Draco watched as the light before him gradually solidified, forming a round ball of light;

He seemed to hear cheers in his ears, and he felt as if he were in a Quidditch stadium, with people all around him chanting "Draco Malfoy," chanting his name!

He could faintly hear cheers, as if he were in the center of a Quidditch pitch, the screams and shouts not only celebrating the victory of the game, but also celebrating his—Draco Malfoy's—victory.

Cheers surged forth again and again, each syllable striking his heart like a hammer blow.

"Draco! Draco! Draco!"

The sounds grew clearer and clearer, and for a moment, he wanted to immerse himself in them.

……

“Vizet, this is…” He shook his head, trying to break free from the feeling, “I think I heard cheers.”

“Just like laughter… a sense of ‘honor’ can be contagious, making others feel ‘honor’ as well.” Vizet waved her wand, causing the ball of light to dissipate into the air. “Isn’t that interesting?”

“Yes! That’s very interesting!” Draco nodded, then asked eagerly, “How can one cast such a magical illumination spell?”

“‘Honor’ is a very broad concept…” Vizet murmured, “Everyone has their own understanding or experience of it.”

"I can only look at it from my own perspective, such as winning a championship or helping others on a train, which can be considered an 'honor'."

"Everyone has a different understanding?" Draco blinked, a thoughtful glint in his eyes.

Try to determine what you consider "honor" based on what Wizette said.

He seemed to see a scene in his mind: during the Sorting Ceremony, the Sorting Hat allowed him to enter Slytherin without any hesitation.

He felt extremely proud at the time. The fact that the Sorting Hat could sort people into different houses so quickly meant that he had not let down his family's honor!

"That's the feeling!" He exhaled, as if he had found his way out of the fog.

It was as if he had returned to that night when he wrote a letter home, and he was extremely excited and couldn't wait to tell his parents that he had become a Slytherin, just like everyone else in his family!

"Lumos!"

Draco's tone was triumphant, and a solid beam of light appeared before him.

This light not only appeared before his eyes, but also seemed to illuminate his heart and appear in his mind.

Memories of the past churned in his mind, especially the memory of his first time boarding the Hogwarts Express and the imminent start of his school life.

He recalled that when the Hogwarts Express arrived at the station, he had an argument with Harry Potter, which even escalated into a physical fight.

……

He recalled the time he challenged Harry Potter to a duel, but he had no intention of accepting the challenge and even went to Filch to tattle on Harry Potter, trying to get points deducted from his score.

……

He also recalled his experience today, how he rode his hippogriff into the sky in order to compete with Harry Potter, and almost made a fool of himself by falling.

……

Draco suddenly realized that his past actions, all his pursuits and struggles... seemed to be increasingly at odds with the Slytherin qualities he admired.

So-called shrewdness, ambition, and cunning are not about fighting with Harry Potter, complaining to Filch, or using fake injuries to cover up one's embarrassing moments;

That's far too insignificant!

Why chase after Harry Potter when you can do better and have better role models? Why waste time on meaningless trifles?

He should make good use of the resources from his family and work hard to improve his magical abilities so that he can truly embody the qualities of a Slytherin!

……

"Draco... what's wrong?"

"How can it be so bright? Lovegood, what did you do to him?"

Suddenly, the voices of Gregory Gore and Vincent Crabbe came from behind Draco.

Hearing the two voices, Draco snapped out of his daze, his eyes still filled with disbelief.

The ball of light at the tip of his wand, which was originally only the size of a fist, had now grown several times larger, its volume at least equivalent to a Quake ball.

“Gore, Vizette didn’t do anything to me!” Draco quickly interjected to explain.

"These lights are my doing! This is my masterpiece!" He waved his wand, speaking with a hint of boasting, "The 'Glory' magic illumination charm!"

“Possessing… the Glory Magic Illumination Charm?” Gregory Goyle and Vincent Crabbe narrowed their eyes slightly, exchanging bewildered glances as they listened to Draco’s words, somewhat confused about what he was talking about.

Draco didn't explain, but turned to Vizette and asked, "Vizette, what should I do next?"

“Although we can use arithmetic divination to break the Lighting Charm…” Vizette smiled slightly, “we have a simpler spell, the Lights Out Charm… Knox!”

"I completely forgot about that!" Draco chuckled, then quickly chanted a spell over his wand, "Knox!"

After the ball of light dissipated, he frowned slightly, tentatively flicked his wand, and cast the Illumination spell once more.

This was a very ordinary spell, without the "glory" attribute, but the halo at the tip of the wand was slightly weaker than before.

“What’s going on? This is strange…” Draco asked in confusion. “It seems like my wand isn’t as easy to use as before.”

Chapter 162 No Longer a Contradiction

"Not as smooth as before? The magic I'm casting... seems different too..." Vizet murmured, looking at the wand in Draco's hand. "Can I take a look?"

“Of course!” Draco handed over the wand without hesitation.

Vizette held Draco's wand in her hand, weighed it briefly, and then slowly spoke: "Ten inches... hawthorn wood... unicorn tail hair?"

"Yes!" Draco exclaimed in surprise, "It's unicorn tail hair! How did you figure that out?"
