The mandrake swung its roots, picked up the gray scarf and socks, and flung them in front of Neville.
The mandrake in front of Neville reacted, shifting its body forward slightly as if to put on a scarf.
Hannah quickly grabbed a scarf and socks, successfully keeping the mandrake warm.
……
And so, Vizette and Luna took turns holding up the mandrakes and wandering around the greenhouse.
Perhaps because of their much larger size than other mandrakes, the two of them took turns holding them and they became more active.
It will even extend its roots, which are shaped like socks, to pat the branches of other mandrakes;
This lifelike and spirited appearance made Luna laugh non-stop, her rosy cheeks looking very pretty.
Although the two did not continue to help change into winter clothes, the overall efficiency actually improved a lot. In less than an hour, nearly one-seventh of the mandrakes had been changed into winter clothes.
To express his gratitude, Sprout gave everyone a bag of cookies. These cookies were probably made with magical plants, and a fresh aroma wafted from the oil paper wrappings and into the air.
These cookies also taste different from the ones provided in the auditorium; they are crispier and leave you feeling warm and cozy after eating them.
At the bottom of the parchment paper package, there are detailed steps on how to make these cookies, including the techniques and the quantities of ingredients.
Sprout explained, "When you get home, you can try making it and surprise your family."
After everyone left the greenhouse, Vizette walked up to Professor Sprout, carrying the mandrake. "Professor Sprout, my mandrake... seems a little different?"
“I think so too.” Sprout nodded. “It’s larger than other mandrakes, and more agile…”
"Shouldn't you be going home for Christmas? Or why don't you leave it here so I can observe it carefully? Maybe I can find out the reason?"
Vizette nodded. "Then I'll bring the fertilizer over... It needs some special fertilizer."
“That would be perfect.” Sprout nodded. “Perhaps that’s the reason? A particularly picky little fellow…”
Vezet nodded. This mandrake was indeed too special; it even protested for fertilizer, sending Lockhart directly to the school hospital.
……
The bronze ring beneath the eagle statue trembled, and a melodious female voice emanated from it.
"I never walk, yet I can travel from London to Rome; I have no wings, yet I can soar through the blue sky; I close my eyes, yet I can witness all the wonders of the world?"
At the same time, Vizette and Luna came up with the same answer: "Imagination!"
The bronze gate slowly opened, and the students inside gathered around the notice board, reading a notice that appeared to have appeared recently.
When Anthony saw Vizet and Luna return, he waved and called out, "Tonight at eight o'clock! There's a gathering in the Great Hall called the 'Duel Club'!"
Chapter 5 The Upcoming Duel Club
The term "Duel Club" might be unfamiliar to some students who, due to being sleepy at lunchtime, are unaware of its specifics.
When he arrives in the classroom, he will learn from the discussions of the students around him that the professor will personally demonstrate dueling techniques at the gathering in the auditorium tonight.
Anthony Goldstein was probably the most excited one after hearing about the Duel Club.
While waiting for class to start, he kept gesturing excitedly: "Dueling is definitely not just talk! We'll definitely have to practice!"
"I really think they should have done this a long time ago! All the magic they learned before was just a stake to bet on success or failure!"
“I know, that’s a line from ‘Wandering with the Werewolf’.” Terry Boots looked up. “Who do you think should demonstrate it?”
Anthony rested his chin on his hand, assuming a thoughtful posture. "Perhaps it's Professor Flitwick?"
“I heard from my family that he participated in a dueling tournament when he was young and eventually won the championship.”
"The dueling tournament champion?" Michael put down his quill and pushed his notebook aside. "Professor Flitwick is really that good!"
Chris Moon exclaimed, "I really didn't expect that! Which dueling tournament is it?"
People now have a clearer understanding of Anthony's family background, so the "hearsay" that Anthony talks about is usually quite credible.
“Let me think… what was it called again…” Anthony scratched his head, “That dueling tournament… I think all wizards in England could participate…”
"Is the name 'All England Wizarding Duels'?" Vizet said. "I remember it being held every two years."
"This competition has no age restrictions, so the protection measures are quite good, and people sign up for every competition."
"Yes, yes, that's it!" Anthony slapped his forehead and exclaimed in realization, "There's a new competition next year, and the prize for the champion is supposedly an egg of some kind of magical creature."
"The All-England Wizarding Duel Tournament..." Chris sighed. "Even if it's for all ages, it's none of our business. Let's look forward to the Duel Club tonight!"
……
Michael pulled the notebook over again and pushed it in front of Vizette. "By the way, Vizette, which of these spells do you think I should practice?"
“Dance Steps Charm, Leg Lock Charm, and Tickling Charm?” Vizette looked at the markings on the notebook.
"Michael, are you planning to use this at tonight's duel club, or as practice for later?"
"We'll use it tonight!" Michael coughed lightly. "There will definitely be a lot of students then, I can't fall behind!"
"Hehe... I know what you're thinking!" Anthony teased. "Remember to shut your mouth next time, you're practically drooling."
"Don't you want to be in the limelight?" Michael covered his mouth, raising his eyebrows high. "Even if you don't want to be in the limelight, you can't at least lose to your duel opponent, right?"
Vizette said, "I suggest using the Dance Step Charm and the Leg Lock Charm together. Combining the two spells will have an unexpected effect."
After all, the elder in the family was a legendary Auror, and he immediately understood what Vizet meant: "First, use the Dance Charm to distract the opponent, then use the Leg Lock Charm to bind them!"
“That’s right.” Vizette nodded. “In a proper duel, as long as the opponent is rendered unable to resist, victory can be declared.”
"There is a similar approach in 'Walking with Trolls,' which uses these two spells in combination to temporarily incapacitate a troll."
Anthony interjected, "If it's not a proper duel, remember to add some more magic, or take away the opponent's wand to prevent them from retaliating."
"Dance Steps Charm and Leg Lock Charm, right?" Terry opened his notebook and quickly wrote down the two spells, planning to practice them properly later.
Chris did something similar, holding up the notebook and repeating it over and over several times.
……
"Are two spells enough?" Michael asked again. "Do we need a protective spell as well?"
"In Lockhart's books, isn't there an Ironclad Charm? Vizette, what do you think of that spell?"
“I don’t really recommend the Ironclad Spell…” Vizette shook her head slightly. “Although the spell isn’t complicated, truly mastering it is not an easy task.”
"Why?" Michael scratched his head. "I read in the book... and it seems to appear a lot."
“To cast a reliable Ironclad Spell, one needs a strong enough heart…” Vizet murmured, trying to describe the feeling.
“If your fingers are the opponent’s magic, then your Ironclad Spell should be like your eyes!” He stretched out his fingers and brought them sharply close to his eyes, “Without blinking…”
“Once your heart wavers, the Ironclad Charm becomes extremely unstable, and it’s even better to just get up and hide. In fact… the process of casting the Ironclad Charm is the process of overcoming fear.”
“That’s right! That’s what my great-grandmother told me!” Anthony nodded in agreement. “So learning this magic doesn’t mean you can use it in actual combat.”
"And what do you think it will last from 8 p.m. to what time? At most 10 p.m.... We still have astronomy class in the evening! It didn't say that astronomy class was going to be canceled."
"I see!" Michael nodded. "Then I'd better practice my dance moves and leg-locking spells!"
-------------------------------------
After the afternoon classes ended, the discussion about the dueling club intensified, with most people looking forward to the evening's opportunity.
Neville was in the other group; he looked very uneasy, holding a notebook in his hands and muttering to himself.
“As long as there’s no physical contact… that counts as a duel…” Fred leaned closer, looking at Neville’s notes. “Want to borrow a couple of fireworks and just throw them over there?”
"With fireworks?" Neville asked doubtfully. "Is that even possible?"
“Of course not!” George patted Neville on the shoulder. “But if you run into a Slytherin, light a firework and blow them up! BOOM! We’ll remember you forever!”
“Or maybe we should treat the opponent like a mandrake?” Luna suggested. “Just help him put on his scarf and socks.”
Hannah blinked. "Mandelabra... that doesn't seem so scary after all."
Vizette offered her advice, "Pay attention to the use of the full-body binding spell... Haven't you all been practicing it lately?"
“Luna is right… just think of them as mandrakes… and the scarf and socks are the full-body binding spell…”
“Cool!” George whistled. “You’ll explain!”
“Then let’s imagine ourselves as fireworks!” Fred closed his eyes. “Let’s just explode with them!”
Chapter 6 Agent Vizet
After dinner, many students chose to stay in the auditorium, intending to wait there until eight o'clock.
Professor Flitwick raised his wand, bringing the four house tables together, then moving them to the very center of the Great Hall, perfectly aligned.
Professor McGonagall stood before the four house tables, gently waving her wand as if conducting an orchestra, casting a transformation spell that turned the house tables into a wide stage.
Just as Professor McGonagall was adjusting the stage details and adding gilded patterns, Professor Flitwick pointed his wand at the ceiling;
As Professor Flitwick gently flicked his wand, the brilliant starry sky on the ceiling gradually dimmed, settling into a velvety black night sky.
Thousands of candles floated in mid-air, their flickering flames mirroring the students' emotions—a mixture of anticipation and excitement—against the backdrop of the dark night sky.
……
As more and more students gathered, the auditorium became increasingly noisy, with everyone sitting close together, discussing excitedly.
