Ravenclaw is interested in knowledge...
Wizette Lovegood has excellent grades...
I know a bit about dark magic, and when I recently went to Knockturn Alley, I saw quite a few interesting things that I could use for chatting...
Considering the above points, Draco seemed to know what he should say.
“Vizet…where did you go all summer…?” He tried to recall what his father would start a conversation with others with.
Wizette was somewhat surprised that Draco Malfoy would continue to talk to him. "I went to Sweden, the birthplace of runes. It was very interesting."
Reflecting on his experiences last year, he realized that Draco Malfoy didn't seem to have done much; the main instigators were likely members of the Parkinson family and students associated with them.
Later, as he began to display some magic, the discordant sounds and malice gradually disappeared.
“Sweden? Do you know there’s a magic school there?” Draco said in a low voice, choking on his saliva as he spoke so fast. “Cough cough cough… I was planning to study there.”
“I’ve heard of Durmstrang School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but I’ve never been there; the route doesn’t go there.” Vezel nodded. “Gellert Grindelwald was also a student there.”
Vizette and Draco started talking, while Pansy's lips pressed even tighter, almost disappearing from view.
Draco's voice grew louder. "I went to Knockturn Alley. Have you been to Knockturn Alley?"
“I passed by once last year, but I didn’t go in,” Vizet said truthfully. “The potion maker at the apothecary told me that Knockturn Alley seems to be quite dangerous.”
“If someone takes you there, it’s just an ordinary place.” Draco raised an eyebrow. “I often visit a magical item shop called Borgin-Bock Shop.”
“There are many interesting things there. One of them is a withered human hand called the ‘Hand of Glory.’ You can put a candle on it, and only the person holding it can see the candlelight.”
"There's also a necklace that's been kept hidden away. It's said to have killed quite a few people... It looks quite nice, though. It's made of many opals strung together with a gold chain..."
“It certainly seems to be a dangerous place.” Vizette frowned immediately upon hearing the description of the necklace. “That opal necklace must contain a deadly curse.”
"That warning was no joke. If you actually come into contact with this curse, you'll probably be suspended in mid-air, enduring prolonged torture before finally dying."
"That terrifying?" Draco asked in surprise. "Vizet, you also study dark magic...? I thought you all rejected dark magic..."
Vizette smiled slightly. "Isn't this the point of Defense Against the Dark Arts? If you want to break dark magic, you naturally need to understand it."
“That’s true…” Draco nodded. “Defense Against the Dark Arts class starts with Dark Arts, then moves on to defense…”
Compared to other Hogwarts students he had met, Vizette gave him a rather different feeling.
At least his attitude toward black magic made him feel comfortable, and he was more willing to speak up.
"Vizet, you seem to know a lot about the curse on the opal necklace? What kind of magic is it? Do you even know?"
Vizette pondered, “If we’re only considering the opal feature, my guess is the ‘Hanging and Hissing Curse’.”
"This kind of magic is very suitable for making dark magic items, so you still have to be careful, it's really dangerous!"
Hearing Vizette's reminder, Draco nodded repeatedly, "I'll be careful, but what exactly is its effect? I've never heard of this kind of dark magic in the books at home..."
The platform was quite a distance from Hogwarts Castle, but Draco felt that time passed very quickly.
To his surprise, Vizet's knowledge of dark magic was also quite profound.
"Croak...croak...croak..."
The carriage slowly came to a stop, and the croaking of toads came from the roadside.
"Lumos!"
Vizette waved her wand, unleashing a burst of soft white light that illuminated a dark brown toad in the distance, with thirteen bumps on its back.
"What a restless pet. Knox!" The white light vanished instantly, accompanied by another incantation, "Rafer, come here!"
The toad Lef flailed its limbs in the air, but could not resist the invisible force, and quickly flew into Vizet's hand.
Draco got out of the car and frowned as he looked at the toad flailing its limbs. "Vizet, is this... your pet?"
“This is Neville’s pet; it loves to run around.” Vizette shook her head. “Since you’ve seen it, you can do me a favor.”
"Neville? Neville Longbottom, is he a Gryffindor?"
"Correct."
Why are you still helping him?
"It's just a little effort."
“Vizet! We’re here!” Several people were standing in the distance; they were Vizet’s roommates.
Vizette waved to them, then turned to Draco and said, "My friend is calling me, I'll go now, see you next time."
"Okay, see you next time." Draco nodded.
Watching Vizette's retreating figure, another question suddenly occurred to him: "Vizette, if I lose something... will you help me find it?"
“If I can find it,” Vizet turned around and said seriously, “to find something using a summoning charm, I at least need to know what it looks like, otherwise it will be troublesome.”
Chapter 68 The New Sorting Song
Pansy got out of the car and heard the croaking coming from Vizet's car. She couldn't help but scoff, "What era are we living in? People still keep toads as pets. Draco, don't you think?"
Draco watched Vizette's retreating figure without replying to Pansy's words.
After a while, another carriage stopped, and Gore and Crabbe crawled out of it, followed by another long groan from the carriage.
Pansy reminded them, "They're here, we should go."
“Okay!” Draco replied, then abruptly asked, “What would you do if I lost something?”
"Where did it fall?" Gore scratched his head. "Shall I help you look for it?"
Crabbe scoffed, "Goyle, you still don't understand Draco. Why bother looking? Why not just buy another one?"
“Exactly, just buy one.” Pansy chuckled twice and said again, “Draco, we should go, the opening banquet is about to start.”
Draco turned to look at Goyle and nodded. "Okay, let's go!"
-------------------------------------
As soon as Vizette reached the gate, she saw Neville looking anxious, pacing back and forth as if searching for something.
Not only Neville, but Hermione, Harry, and Ron were also at the door, looking around in similar positions.
Occasionally, a student would pass by, and Neville would look up, wipe the sweat from his brow, and ask, "Have you seen my toad? It's dark brown with thirteen bumps on its back..."
He remembered the characteristics of the toad Raeford perfectly.
“Neville, I found this by the roadside and brought it back for you.” Vizet stepped forward and handed the toad Raef, which he was carrying on his arm, to Neville.
"Lever!" Neville exclaimed with delight, holding it in both hands as if it were a precious treasure. "Thank you so much! You always help me find it."
Harry, Ron, and the others walked over, and Hermione said, "Thank goodness nothing happened! Ron and Harry got here even earlier than us."
Harry and Ron groaned in unison, "Don't even mention it... I regret it so much... We should have just flown to school..."
"You guys!" Hermione's brows furrowed tightly. "Isn't this fine now? Driving in the air, how dangerous would that be!"
Looking at their expressions, both of them still seemed shaken, Vizette asked with some curiosity, "What happened to you at school?"
“We’re in Snape’s office…” Ron began.
Harry continued, "From sunset until just now..."
Ron patted his chest. "Luckily, Professor McGonagall remembered us and led us away. Otherwise, we would have just been standing there watching Snape feed the mushrooms earthworms."
Harry rubbed his hair, making it look like a bird's nest. "If Professor McGonagall doesn't come soon, I think Snape might make us...eat the entrails in those jars..."
"Alright, that's enough! The opening banquet should be starting soon, let's go in!" Anthony interrupted Harry and Ron, who were about to start complaining.
……
The group entered the auditorium, and everything felt so familiar.
Beneath the dome are thousands of candles suspended in mid-air, while above the dome is a brilliant starry sky, which complements the suspended candles.
The professors had all arrived, and Snape sat in the corner of the long table, his face expressionless as he closed his eyes to rest.
It's clear that spending time with Harry Ron has taken a toll on his energy.
Vizette looked toward where the Dark Arts professor was; Gilderoy Lockhart was sitting there, talking to Flitwick.
Flitwick seemed uninterested, only occasionally nodding or moving his lips, as if he were merely responding to the eloquent Lockhart.
When Vizet arrived at the Ravenclaw table, Flitwick showed a more expressive face, smiling and waving at Vizet.
Vizette smiled and waved before taking her seat.
Lockhart noticed Flitwick's actions, pointed at Vizet, and then made a series of exaggerated gestures, babbling on and on.
Perhaps because Nicolas Flamel was a legendary alchemist, he was protected by a great deal of magic.
So Vizette hadn't been able to get in touch with Quirrell all summer.
If he wasn't mistaken, Nicolas Flamel's protection was at least due to the Charm of Loyalty.
With this magic, as long as the keeper doesn't actively reveal the address, no one else can enter Nicolas Flamel's house, even if they've already stumbled upon it.
……
Someone shouted, "They're here! The new students are here!"
With the sound of a door opening, Professor McGonagall was followed by a group of timid freshmen.
