Davidian's Holy Grail War

You might not know this, but there are quite a few people like this in my area's history: once they've got beauty and wealth, betrayal can happen in an instant. We've only known each other for two days.
Merlin burst into laughter upon hearing David's words.
"Actually, I'm quite curious: is there really any wealth in this era that can move you?"
Even gold and silver are ultimately valued by people, and what can that value be exchanged for?
Food and drink? Well, I'm sorry, there's not much left on this barren land.
As for other places, navigation in this era can be quite disheartening.
Of course, as for pledging allegiance to others... you'll understand once you go and see Britain.
You will choose him, just as I chose you. As for looks... well, you'll understand later.
Even if it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision, Merlin saw him falling and rushed over to save him.
At that moment, Merlin made a decision: he would train this sword-wielding boy into an excellent knight and hand him over to Artorius.
This was his gift to Artorius, and the most fitting gift nonetheless. The Knights of the Round Table would soon have one more knight in black.
Chapter 6 Brave Young Man, Go Change the World
In this dream world, Davidan and Artorius before him had clashed countless times.
The two fought for an unknown amount of time this time. In this dream world, there was no issue of stamina. As long as one side wasn't defeated, they could fight forever.
However, this time, David's powerful upward strike knocked the golden sword from Artoria's hand.
This was Davidian's first victory; for the first time in three years, he had knocked the sword out of Artorias's hand, achieving the victory he had always longed for.
However, he did not show any ecstatic joy at this moment.
"Oh dear, I never expected that after three years of hard training you would surpass me. I haven't relaxed my swordsmanship training either. I still got surpassed. It's really frustrating."
Artorius could only manage a wry smile; they'd lost just like that. He really hadn't expected Merlin to have struck gold like this.
"You were a bit lucky. If you had gone all out, I definitely wouldn't have been able to beat you. Um... what was that again? Ah, magic release, right?"
"The ability to surpass ordinary people like me simply by slightly improving one's physical fitness is truly enviable."
Merlin taught him a lot over the past three years, and he also realized that some people in this world are just different; they are born with very powerful magic circuits.
Even if he didn't use it to practice magic, simply using that magic to strengthen his body would be something that ordinary people like him couldn't even dream of.
Altoris smiled and said:
"That would be cheating. Aside from giving you a concept and impression at the beginning, the magic I released later was simply to make me on par with you. After all, you are older than me, and if I don't improve a little, I won't be able to catch up with you."
Speaking of this, David looked at Artorius's youthful yet undeniably handsome face.
As expected of a legendary hero, even though he hasn't fully grown up yet, this guy is definitely going to be a heartthrob in the future. I wonder how many wealthy ladies and young women will fall for his handsome face.
"Speaking of which, you're leaving tomorrow too, aren't you?" Artorius thought of this; three years had already passed. It was time for Davian to leave the castle he had always stayed in.
He should go out on his own and see what this land has to offer, and what he himself should do.
"Well, Merlin said this is a necessary survival experience in the wild. How can you be a knight without taking risks? The wyverns have almost finished eating, it's time to go out and find something else to eat."
Three years! A full three years, eating wyvern wings every meal, black bread and ale every day, is this how a human being lives? They should at least go out and find something else to eat, something to improve their palate.
As the two were casually joking around, Merlin arrived. He had been very busy lately, and Davidian rarely saw him.
But Davidian had no idea what exactly he was busy with. Merlin wouldn't tell him, and he wouldn't ask.
Asking is pointless; Merlin's affairs are beyond his control.
"Hey, you two. You seem to be in a good mood. Did you talk about something that made you happy? Why don't you tell me and make me happy too?"
Merlin still wore that same confident smile, as if nothing in this world could stump him. And indeed, that was true; he could create the Holy Grail, so what could possibly be difficult for him?
The only key question is whether he wants to or not.
"It's nothing, I was just thinking that tomorrow is the day we set off. Three years really go by quickly, Merlin, thank you for taking care of me."
David bowed to Merlin in gratitude, one of the few ways he could express his thanks. Over the past three years, Merlin had truly taught him a great deal of useful knowledge.
But Merlin simply smiled and waved his hand, indicating that he didn't need to do that.
"This is nothing. After all, this is an agreement between you and me. I nurtured you, and you fight loyally for our future king."
We both understood this situation, and that's how we got to where we are today, right? Keep up the good work, David.
In fact, this was just Merlin's casual remark. Someone like him, who could predict the future based on the present, had already seen the general outline of the future.
However, some things still need to be said. Even if the ending of the story is already predetermined, the feelings and experiences of everyone involved will change.
She agreed to King Uther's plan precisely because she wanted to see those beautiful things.
"Ah, speaking of which, you're leaving tomorrow. I can't think of anything good to prepare for you, so let's leave it at that."
After all, I've taught you the skills, and you have the Holy Sword yourself. As for learning how to be a decent human being… let the world teach you that. I can't teach you that.”
Merlin smiled, thus completely absolving himself of any remaining responsibility. But it's true, how could something inhuman teach humans how to be human?
“I wasn’t expecting anything from those things anyway. But this holy sword…” David looked at the dark sword in his hand, how it had gone from a prop weapon to a real one, and it just felt so strange.
This is the primordial sword that Viktor created to protect the world, possessing a multitude of exaggerated abilities. How did it end up in my hands?
He then pulled out the fantasy book about the evil dragon, the only book the sword had given him. But there was another book, the book of the evil king dragon.
The book didn't end up in his hands. Now, in this world, can he create another fantasy book to further unleash the power of this holy sword?
What frustrates him even more is that he has had this sword for three years, but he has never used its power even once.
Unable to transform and unable to see the future, the sword in his hands is now just a simple sword.
Davidian couldn't unleash the sword's full power, nor could he simply discard it. It was a case of being neither useful nor worth throwing away—that's probably the situation he was in.
"Some things are all about timing. Before your destiny arrives, all you have to do is wait. Once it comes into your hands, it will naturally give you power."
Merlin comforted him, saying that the time was not right and it really wasn't a problem.
Merlin could also see the power contained in this holy sword. As long as he had this sword, even if David was just an ordinary person, he would be able to rival the extraordinary Knights of the Round Table in the future.
Davidian nodded, accepting Merlin's comfort. Then Merlin clapped his hands, intending to end the dream.
"Alright, that's enough for today. Both of you should get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow will be a new day, David. Use your own eyes to see this land clearly. I'm looking forward to seeing how you ultimately achieve your goals."
Artorius and Davidian nodded in unison, then simultaneously closed their eyes. They vanished from the dream world, the future awaiting them.
In this dark age, they were bound to do something to try and change everything.
Chapter 7 Departure
The next day, David got up early, washed up, and packed his clothes, luggage, and bed.
He looked at the simple bed with some emotion, after all, he had slept in this bed for three years and had gotten used to it.
It's a little sad to leave like this.
"Be careful on the road. Don't die before the day of the king's election, or I'll have wasted three years of my efforts."
Merlin chuckled as he saw him off from the castle, and the two parted ways there, until their future reunion.
"Rest assured. When that day comes, I will still be alive. When he raises his army in rebellion, no matter how far apart we are, I will come immediately. This is our agreement, and I will never break my promise."
After saying this, Davidan turned and waved to Merlin, indicating that he should go back now. From now on, it would be Davidan's own journey.
Merlin smiled, turned into flower petals and disappeared from the spot, while David strode forward.
Britain, what kind of place is this? And what are those rulers doing here? He wanted to see for himself.
"It's begun. Everyone is getting ready to move out. Merlin, thank you for doing all this for my stubbornness."
King Uther sat on his dilapidated throne; this was the last time. He was weary; it was time for him to rest.
"Ah, yes, King Uther. Although it was also out of my own interest, it cannot be called your willfulness."
Everyone is the same in their desire to perpetuate Britain and achieve a brighter future. You've simply done what you were supposed to do. The rest is up to those who have already embarked on their journeys into the future.
"Yes, you are right... My daughter, Artoria Pendragon. May glory and honor shine upon you, even if only a little, may you be bathed only in light and love. I will bear the burden of the old era, so may your story be filled with blessings."
After saying these last words, King Euthyce slowly closed his eyes.
Merlin slowly walked to his side and waved his long sleeve to cover King Uther's body. When he removed the sleeve, King Uther's body had vanished.
This was the last thing Merlin did for this former king.
"Farewell, King Uther. I have received your story and your wishes, no matter what. Although the future of Britain is lost, what you longed for will surely come true."
After saying this, Merlin also turned into flower petals and disappeared. He had things to do, and he would witness the end of the future, whether it was the future of Artoria, the future of Davian, or the future of the other Knights of the Round Table.
David, who had already embarked on his journey, was naturally unaware of all of this.
In the three years since he arrived here, the only people he had ever seen were Merlin and Artoria. King Uther had always kept himself well hidden, and Davian had never seen him even once.
Of course, King Uther didn't want to see him either. If it was about bestowing a favor, then it would be better to let the future King Arthur do it; that was his thought.
So from beginning to end, he just secretly watched Davidian train and observed his growth until he was sure that Merlin was right, and then he stopped caring about the matter.
"They say they're embarking on a journey, but where exactly am I headed?"
He hadn't walked far when Davidian was already in a dilemma. Where should he go now? What should he do? If he just kept walking forward, when would it end?
