She turned her head to look behind her and saw three figures leaning against the iron netting at the edge of the rooftop.
The magical girl Rainbow, standing on the left, waved to her and chuckled.
Magical girl Maple, who was leaning her head on her shoulder and playing on her phone, sighed and said without looking up, "So slow, newbie. If you're this slow, you'll get eaten by the wolf in sheep's clothing."
Little Red Riding Hood said calmly, "Don't worry, every version of Little Red Riding Hood has survived."
As she spoke, she shifted her gaze to Ash, who was standing on the far right, clearly a body length away from the two of them.
The girl in the gothic dress held onto a gap in the wire mesh with one hand, her face turned to the side, her clear eyes gazing at the distant viaduct, the gray ribbons above her head swaying in the wind.
Her expression remained as nonchalant as ever, as if she were separated from the world by a pane of glass.
"So, senior, what do you want from me?" Little Red Riding Hood asked, looking at her profile.
“Ask them,” the girl in the gothic dress replied.
Upon hearing this, Little Red Riding Hood turned her gaze to Rainbow and Maple, who were always inseparable, and asked, "What can I do for you?"
“Ask this guy,” Feng said, poking Hong’s shoulder with his finger.
Little Red Riding Hood shifted her gaze and stared at the rainbow expressionlessly.
Hong stammered for a long time, unable to speak. She raised her hands, pointing her index finger at her index finger, and finally spoke after a while: "Uh, actually I wanted to... I wanted to invite you and..."
"Me and?" Little Red Riding Hood tilted her head.
Hong suddenly shook her head, and said dejectedly, "No! I just wanted to invite you to my house for a visit."
Little Red Riding Hood shook her head and said, "No, what you meant to say was that you wanted to invite me and Ash to your house, right?"
Magical Girl Ash heard her own name called, withdrew her gaze from the distant overpass, slowly turned around, crossed her arms, glanced at Little Red Riding Hood, and then at Rainbow.
"What's wrong with me?" she asked.
"No, I didn't mean that." Hong waved her hand hurriedly, on the verge of tears.
“That’s exactly what she meant, she’s just afraid you’ll yell at her.” Feng said, then turned and leaned closer to Hong, “Hey, hey, hey, don’t chicken out at this crucial moment.”
"I think it's a good idea," Little Red Riding Hood said expressionlessly. "How about you come to her house with me, senior?"
"she?"
As she spoke, the magical girl Ash stared at the bewildered Rainbow, tilted her head, and her dark hair tilted slightly.
“Yes, my brother is home, and I’d like to introduce you to him.” Rainbow nodded vigorously. “He’s a really nice guy! And he’s a superhero! Although he’s only recently debuted, you should all have heard of him!”
After this series of punches, the other three people present couldn't help but be stunned for a moment. The rooftop was briefly shrouded in silence as the wind carrying the heat wave swept across the city and slapped their cheeks.
"Huh—?" Feng was the first to be stunned. "Your brother is a superhero?"
Hong nodded slightly and continued, "Yes. He only recently became a superhero. He didn't want to go out before because of his leg problems, so he never went to school."
She paused, then muttered softly, "I often mention you to him. Once, he was sitting in his wheelchair looking out the window and whispered, 'I'm so grateful to them for taking such good care of you. I wish I could meet you all.' Ever since then, I've been thinking about introducing you to him, but I've never had the chance..."
Hearing this, the magical girl Ash was slightly surprised and asked softly, "Then why didn't you mention it to us?"
"Haven't you brought it up now?"
As she spoke, Hong scratched her head sheepishly and chuckled softly.
“That’s true.” Magical Girl Ash paused for a moment, “but I still don’t really want to…” Before she could finish speaking, Little Red Riding Hood came over and grabbed her elbow.
"doing what?"
"Senior, please accept my offer and come with me to her house to play," Little Red Riding Hood said.
"No."
"No, I'm going to jump off a building. It's true what they say, a girl who grew up with trash in her mouth doesn't deserve to invite a girl who grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth to someone else's house." Little Red Riding Hood said sadly.
"If I say no, I mean no. When will this end?"
Little Red Riding Hood leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Senior, can you please not be so heartless? Look at her expression. If you don't accept this, even if I don't jump off the building, she'll jump soon."
Upon hearing this, Magical Girl Ash turned her pale face to the side, glanced at them lightly, then looked away, tapping her arm lightly with her fingers. After a long while, she hesitated and said, "But I have never let them see my true form."
“Then let them see them.” Little Red Riding Hood tilted her head. “What’s the trouble?”
"What you said is quite simple..."
Before Ash could finish speaking, Little Red Riding Hood was suddenly enveloped in a layer of cocoon light. Then the cocoon light shattered, and she transformed back into the girl named "You Minglu".
You Minglu was dressed in a jumpsuit, looking like a tomboy, but the outfit somehow created a strange chemistry with her indifferent temperament.
The other three were stunned by her decisiveness.
You Minglu asked casually, "Aren't you going to her house to play? Aren't you going to transform?"
Upon hearing this, Magical Girl Rainbow and Magical Girl Maple turned to look at each other, and then both transformed back to their original forms amidst the shattered cocoon light.
Hong was wearing a light red pleated skirt and had hair that was slightly longer than her shoulders;
Feng was wearing a yellow T-shirt and ripped jeans, with neat short hair, the hair around her ears cut very short.
They all had black hair and brown eyes, and their appearances were not much different from those of typical high school girls: Hong's face was a little chubby, but she was still quite cute; Feng looked like a boy with androgynous features.
All three returned to their original forms, and their gazes shifted, placing pressure on the magical girl Ash.
The girl in the gothic dress, arms crossed and back against the wire mesh, twitched slightly at the corner of her eye after being stared at by the three men for a while. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she opened the magic umbrella, like Cinderella, and tried to escape immediately.
As if Little Red Riding Hood had anticipated what she was about to do, she pressed down on her right hand and then gestured to Maple and Rainbow with her eyes.
Feng complained, "Senior, other magical girls from other alliances can take a bath together after knowing each other for several years, but we've known you for so long, and you've never even shown us what you really look like."
Hong nodded, saying innocently, "Yes."
Ash's eyes twitched again. She hesitated for a long time before slowly lowering the magic umbrella she was about to open. Then she turned her face to the side, took a deep breath, and spoke in an arrogant and indifferent tone.
"Let me make this clear first: if I turn back to my original form, and you dare to comment on my appearance, even just one word, you will bear the consequences."
Hong and Feng were stunned by her murderous aura and nodded blankly.
Magical Girl Ash stared intently at them for a while, then lowered her head, crossed her arms, and pondered for a moment. As if she couldn't take it anymore, she stomped her foot, picked up the handle of her magic umbrella, and ran away.
Little Red Riding Hood pressed down on her right hand again, stared into her eyes, and shook her head.
"Running away in the face of battle is not the behavior a senior should do."
Magical Girl Ash and she looked into each other's eyes, then Ash sighed deeply, "Fine, let it change."
After she finished speaking, her graceful and elegant figure was slowly enveloped by a layer of dark cocoon light.
Rainbow and Maple both stared wide-eyed, their eyes wide like saucers. Neither of them had ever seen Ash's transformed form before, so they were completely focused, like high school students waiting for their college entrance exam scores, not even daring to blink.
The next moment, the cocoon-like light covering the magical girl Ash shattered. She looked down at the folding umbrella, remaining silent, as if somewhat embarrassed.
"Your face hasn't changed?"
Both Feng and Hong looked puzzled.
Little Red Riding Hood shook her head and pointed to Bai Zini's pocket: "Senior, you still have a mirror that you haven't used yet."
Bai Zini raised the magic mirror, looked at herself in it, and her face instantly returned to its original appearance.
Hong blurted out, "So cute."
Feng was stunned, and stammered, "So...so you're so young, senior?"
Upon hearing this, Bai Zini looked up from her umbrella, raised her eyes, and glanced at the two of them with anger in her eyes.
She said, "You guys be careful next time."
The two felt a chill run down their spines and immediately covered their mouths.
"Let's go, let's go to her house for a while and then come back."
Yu Minglu said expressionlessly, and then nudged Bai Zini's shoulder from behind.
"No, push me."
As Bai Zini spoke, You Minglu quickly moved from behind her to her side and walked out of the school rooftop side by side with her.
A moment later, the four of them walked out of the long-abandoned primary school and stopped in front of a vending machine in the tobacco commercial street.
"Wait a minute. I'll buy a few drinks on my way back; the ones in the fridge are all gone."
As Hong spoke, she turned around, extended her finger, and selected a drink on the vending machine's screen.
Taking advantage of the lull, Feng suggested, "How about we exchange names? We don't have to use our real names, just pseudonyms. We can't exactly keep using code names at her house, can we?"
As she spoke, she shrugged and said dismissively, "I'll lead the way. My real name is Qiu Xia."
Hong turned around and, while distributing drinks to the group, said, "My real name is An Hong, although I think everyone probably already knows that."
You Minglu took the bottle of ice-cold Sprite and said, "You Minglu, the Lu in Lilu (meaning profit and prosperity)."
Bai Zini paused for a moment, then leaned close to her ear and asked, "Why did you just give your real name?"
You Minglu explained calmly, "Senior, I have no relatives or friends. Even if bad people find out my real name, it doesn't matter." As she spoke, she twisted open the Sprite bottle cap with a "click" and then brought the bottle to her lips.
Upon hearing this, Bai Zini lowered her eyes and hesitated for a moment, then seemed to remember something amusing and gently curled the corners of her mouth.
She coughed twice and said, "You can call me... Bai Mingye."
Upon hearing the name, You Minglu choked and almost spat out the Sprite he had just drunk.
"Cough...cough cough, cough cough cough."
