Without a doubt, this man made a grave mistake.

He sheltered a group of dark creatures who should have been brought to trial for their evil resurrection plan. Over the years, he helped them smuggle and hunt magical creatures, and even committed murder in order to obtain the fangs in Amosta's hands. According to American wizarding law, he would undoubtedly be sentenced to death.

However, they couldn't blame him for doing so.

He received an evil curse while pursuing his righteous dreams and upholding justice, a curse that destroyed his dreams and his family's expectations of him. In a way, he simply wanted to live.

Sirius looked at this man, who should have had absolutely no connection to his life, with a complicated expression.

"Aren't you worried? Haven't you thought about it?"

Sirius's gray eyes narrowed slightly. He glanced subtly at the vampire they had been tracking that night. From Grevis's account, he knew they weren't a united front.

"What if these vampires are just using you? Maybe they just want to resurrect their ancestors?"

Not only Morgans, but all the vampires surrounding them changed color upon hearing Sirius's words, their eyes filled with murderous intent as they looked at him.

Mogens' lips moved, as if he wanted to explain something to Grevis, but Grevis raised his hand to interrupt him.

“I interrogated the vampire leader I captured years ago using magic and truth serum, and I’m sure the method I obtained is genuine.”

"You want to wash away the shame of your grandfather Percival Grevis and maintain the glory of the Grevis family, but your actions are contrary to your dreams."

Sirius said

"You're trying to resurrect a dark creature you know nothing about. Maybe it can lift your curse, but have you considered the harm its existence will cause to the American magical community and the wizards here?"

"We are not that mysterious person—"

Mogens said coldly,

"We never pursue mere killing."

"Oh, really?"

Sirius Black spoke with disdain.

“You don’t seek to kill, but according to what Grevis just said, haven’t you killed many innocent people and magical creatures over the centuries in your attempt to resurrect your ancestors?”

"That blob of blood you threw out at the coffee shop—"

After a long silence, Amelia stared at Morgans, then suddenly said in an icy tone,

“Amosta told me that many human souls are bound in that evil substance. Doesn’t it come from this vampire you want to resurrect?”

"I've already said, we don't pursue mere killing—"

Morgans remained unmoved by Sirius and Amelia's accusations.

"But we are vampires, and our food is human blood. Do humans feel remorse for slaughtering cattle and sheep?"

This is a topic that can never be concluded. When wizards included vampires as magical creatures, they stipulated that they could only drink the blood of specially supplied magical creatures and were not allowed to touch the blood of wizards or Muggles. Hunting humans or wizards for this purpose was an unforgivable crime.

Vampires were naturally unwilling to accept this, and Morgens' views represented the most extreme and intense opinions of some of the most radical individuals within the vampire community.

However, if they, who are ostracized by the Church in the Muggle world, do not follow the rules of the more powerful wizards, then there is no place for them in this world.

Amelia couldn't help but argue, but after glancing sideways at Morgans, Grevis raised his hand again, interrupting Amelia's words.

"Thank you for your reminder and advice, Mr. Blake—"

Grevis pointed his wand at the pieces of clothing on the ground, put his clothes back on, and then nodded politely to Black.

"Do you have any further questions for me to answer? Selena, Eriel, why have you remained silent?"

His two former trusted subordinates merely stared at him, their eyes filled with sorrow and disappointment that made his breathing quicken.

"It seems you have no more doubts, right?"

Grevis's expression returned to its icy tone. He nodded slightly, then glanced one last time at the pursuers, who were now clearly on high alert, and shouted sharply.

"Then, kill them!"

A piercing scream pressed down on the rumbling blood pool, and in an instant, a dazzling spell illuminated the dilapidated hall as bright as day!

"Get down!"

Sirius, who had anticipated this, roared and suddenly raised his wand. The ground around them suddenly rose up, forming four high walls in the blink of an eye to block the first wave of attacks.

There was no need for all the vampires in the hall to intervene, as it was only a matter of killing four wizards.

The dozens of vampires at the front of the encirclement unleashed spells at Sirius and his companions, but even so, the high wall Sirius conjured was immediately riddled with holes under the first wave of attacks, and the four of them would perish in an instant!

"Mr. Blake!"

Eriel tackled Selena to the ground and roared at Sirius.

"I know!"

Sirius roared in response, pressing Amelia's head down even lower with one hand. He then flicked away a spell beam that flew into the defensive circle through a hole, before tilting his head back and shouting loudly into the void.

"Fox!"

boom!

After a deafening bang, a powerful white shockwave suddenly appeared beneath the dazzling ceiling illuminated by various colored spell lights. The intense air tremors caused the shattered glass in the walls, windows, and ceiling of this hall, which had once been the residence of the Magical Congress of the United States, to fall like raindrops!

Amidst the high-pitched cries, a vast expanse of shadow appeared in mid-air without warning, and dozens of Aurors landed abruptly to the ground as the vampires stared in stunned disbelief.

boom!

The fiercest battle began, and every inch of the hall, which had suddenly become cramped, was filled with roars and flashing spell lights!

Morgans's face contorted into a terrifying grimace. He couldn't comprehend how these Aurors had gotten here. The place had been sealed off by the Anti-Apparition Charm, and the connecting fireplace had been shattered in the first wave of attacks. But there was no time to dwell on these issues now. Centuries of hard work were about to be realized tonight, and he would not allow it to be destroyed!

With a raised hand, a crimson cursed light flashed, and Morgens was about to join the battle, but—

"and many more!"

Gravis, recovering from his shock, glanced at his subordinates who were surrounded and locked in fierce combat, and a subtle change appeared in his expression.

"They can't defeat so many vampires, so you stay with me in case I get distracted—"

Mogens paused, glancing reluctantly at the battlefield so close at hand, before finally nodding.

But Grevis's assessment wasn't entirely accurate.

Admittedly, the Aurors are outnumbered, but compared to vampires who randomly cast spells, well-trained Aurors are clearly more effective. Moreover, the limited space in the hall also diminishes the vampires' numerical advantage.

The Aurors, including Selena and Ariel, quickly conjured three enormous, transparent, bubble-like magical barriers. Each barrier contained a dozen or so Aurors. Sirius and Amelia were in the center, while Ariel and Selena each led a team to flank Grevis from the left and right, slowly but resolutely approaching him.

Fox hovered above the battlefield, not joining the fight, but watching Grevis as he resumed casting spells on the blood pool. A barely perceptible azure light flashed in its ruby-like eyes.

Chapter 954 Horcruxes

2024-06-03

The screams echoed through the valleys deep in the Appalachian Mountains, making the ominous night even more sinister.

At the former outpost of the Magic Council, the bodies of vampires who had suffered fatal blows spontaneously combusted into ashes, which were carried upwards by the turbulent air currents, resembling columns of smoke.

"You have to be ruthless, Amelia!"

Suddenly, a sharp silver light shot out and pierced through the chest of one of the vampires. Sirius turned to assess the situation and saw Amelia, who was beside him, still using a disarming charm to fight back. He couldn't help but shout loudly,

"These vampires have no intention of letting us leave alive. We must completely incapacitate them; disarming spells alone won't suffice!"

A wave of spell light swept in, emitting a blinding glow, as if a high-powered searchlight had appeared right next to it, causing Amelia to squint involuntarily. When these spells were imprinted on the huge magical barrier, it was as if a torrential downpour was washing over the surface of a lake, and the smooth, transparent barrier immediately showed pits.

"I understand, I just—"

The sharp, piercing whistling sounds not only assaulted Amelia's eardrums but also her taut nerves.

In the hall that came into view, vampires died every second amidst their wails. Life had become the cheapest commodity in war, and the cruelty of war was laid bare before Amelia.

This is different from when I was with Amosta in that Muggle café.

The fear and urgency of losing one's life every second can drive people to unconscious madness—to lose their minds. The last thought left in their minds is to bring down any enemy who dares to wave a magic wand at them, and that is war.

With each swing of her arms, the youthful innocence on Amelia's face gradually faded, but her pupils, constricted to their limit, still revealed a mournful cry and pain. It was the unbearable pain of taking away vibrant lives, even though these vampires were indeed heinous criminals.

Boom!

After the deafening roar, came the sickening sound of steel twisting.

Under the horrified gazes of many, the dilapidated hall, already battered and broken, finally gave way. One by one, the supporting stone pillars collapsed, and the hall's circular vaulted ceiling twisted, deformed, and cracked. With a chilling howl, heavy steel beams crashed down.

The vampires, densely packed together, were unable to escape and were crushed into flesh and blood by the heavy steel beams. Their blood gathered on the ground in trickling streams, inexplicably drawn towards the blood pool!

Beside the blood pool, the fangs containing most of the legendary vampire's power rapidly merged into the blood pool under Grevis's spell. Above the blood pool, intense crimson lightning almost formed into a thunderous abyss, and its bursting red light shone in harmony with the crimson moon in the sky, dyeing the mountains red.

The surface of the blood pool was sinking at a visible rate, and as the water level dropped, an extremely nauseating and evil magical power gradually boiled beneath the surface. This power had not yet manifested, but it had already begun to affect the two sides fighting in the hall.

Whether it was the vampires or the Aurors trapped within the magical barrier, they all forgot about their dwindling magical power and launched attacks on the enemy with reckless abandon. Even Sirius's gray eyes began to flash with a violent red light.

"Kill these vile vampires!"

"They have brought shame upon the Ministry of Security!"

The impact was even greater on some of the weaker Aurors, including Amelia. They roared in fury, attempting to break through the magical barrier and engage the vampires in a more brutal close-quarters battle. Fortunately—

Suddenly, ethereal music drifted down from above the hall, its magic dispelling the Aurors' bloodlust.

Sirius Black pulled Amelia back from the brink of escaping the magical barrier, and shouted gratefully towards Fawkes in the sky.

"Thanks, Fox!"
