Chapter 950 Finally meeting

2024-06-01

Hearing Sirius's slightly sarcastic words, Selena and Eriel's already sullen expressions became even more unsettling.

Trak Grevis is the head of the Security Department, a well-deserved high-ranking figure within the Magical Congress of the United States, and has been known for his strict self-discipline and incorruptibility over the years.

The Aurors of the Security Department were all proud to have such a superior.

The blatant evidence before them had undoubtedly torn away Grevis's fig leaf, proving that this distinguished Auror was not as flawless as he appeared to the world.

Amelia, on the other hand, seemed indifferent to the whole thing.

She did admire wizards like Grevis, but not to the same extent as the Aurors who had followed Grevis for many years. And some of the decisions made by this head of the security department these days disgusted Amelia.

“No one is perfect, Mr. Blake—”

After a moment of silence, Selena looked at Sirius Black and said with a gloomy expression,

“Even Mr. Dumbledore, Mr. Blaine, and you, Mr. Black, I think you haven’t forgotten that you entered the United States illegally.”

Sirius pursed his lips, shrugged, and smiled, not particularly bothered by Selena's 'condemnation'.

A gentle breeze stirred the curtains, and ominous, blood-red moonlight shone through the window, casting shimmering, ghostly shadows on the dimly lit study walls.

Everyone in the room was staring at the fireplace, and without a doubt, a sense of foreboding rose in their hearts. They all seemed to vaguely foresee that the place they were about to go would probably not be as peaceful as this villa.

"Are we—"

Hesitantly, Eriel looked at Sirius.

"Should we have that magical phoenix summon our people?"

No need --

Suppressing his slight disdain for Grevis, who had caused Amostella considerable trouble, Sirius regained the composure and professionalism of an Auror.

“Even if you bring everyone over, it won’t make a difference. The fireplace can only teleport one person at a time. If so many Aurors want to reach another location through the fireplace, it will take at least ten minutes. If there’s an ambush on the other side of the fireplace, then your colleagues are doomed.”

"If there really is an ambush, what about the few of us?"

Amelia said with some concern that she had just realized how reliable and safe a great mage like Amosta could be. Being by his side meant she didn't have to worry about her safety at all.

“Even if there is an ambush, I think the four of us can hold out for a while. That way, Fox will have the opportunity to move all the Aurors there at once, which could even catch those dark creatures off guard, making it more advantageous for us.”

Sirius's point of view convinced Selena and Eriel, so the four of them stood in front of the fireplace one by one. Unlike before, although Sirius was still at the front, Amelia was left behind. After a few crackling sounds of the taut flames, the four of them disappeared into the dark study.

In the mountains, a strong wind swept through the dense forest, emitting screams like the wails of a female ghost. The huge building in the mountain valley was shrouded in the shadows of the verdant peaks illuminated by the blood-red moonlight, as if one were in a ghostly realm.

Roar!

The venomous leopard, its eyes now back to normal, let out a mournful roar as it leaped into the air, desperately lunging towards the wizard whose face was hidden in the shadows by the blood pool!

The powerful force did briefly lift it out of the blood pool, but the blood in the pool seemed to have a life of its own. The blood splashed out the moment the leopard was lifted out of the water, revealing its ferocious nature. Tentacle-like blood whips whistled through the air, binding the leopard with even greater speed and mercilessly pulling it back into the blood pool.

The roars, the splattering of blood, the chilling howls echoing from the void.

Many sounds intertwined and resounded throughout the hall, like a rousing death concerto reaching its climax.

As time passed, the venomous leopard, a powerful and dangerous magical animal, began to utter heartbreaking cries. Compared to its previous robust physique, its body became much thinner, as if some force in a pool of blood was draining its life force.

It continued to struggle desperately, the indomitable light in its wild, beastly eyes still burning, but ultimately, it was all in vain.

In the hall, beneath the cold gaze of the indifferent, expressionless wizard by the pool, the leopard's howls gradually subsided, and its massive body, reduced to a dull, withered hide, slowly sank into the blood pool and dissolved completely.

The wizard, who had stood like a statue by the pool, finally stirred. He raised his hand, his indifferent gaze fixed on a smooth, imprisoned fang in his palm, for a long time—

"Amelia Dett and Sirius Black, are you sure they're dead underground?"

Behind the man, Mogens, standing bowed, spoke in a voice tinged with shame,

"Before leaving, I blew up all the fireplaces. There was Apparition present, so they had no other way to leave."

"So, you're not sure they're dead?"

The man then asked,

"You also don't understand why they were able to break free from the potion's effects so quickly, wake up, and catch up with you. You also don't understand why only they appeared, and why Amosta Blaine didn't?"

Mogens lowered his head and remained silent.

"Never mind, it's not important anymore—"

The man by the blood pool shook his head slightly.

After devouring the Poison Leopard, the blood pool underwent a new change. A whirlpool gradually formed in the center of the boiling water, its rotation speed rapidly increasing, stirring the blood throughout the entire pool. Suddenly, a ferocious beast's roar flew from the surface of the blood—it was the Poison Leopard in its blood form.

The murderer, ultimately unable to avoid its tragic end, let out a hateful roar and lunged fiercely at the man by the pool once more. However, the vortex in the center of the blood pool suddenly unleashed an unparalleled attraction. Under this force, the venomous leopard's body, reshaped by blood, shattered like broken walls at the slightest touch. Its magic and life force completely vanished into the blood pool, merging with countless tragically deceased souls.

Suddenly, a fierce thunderbolt erupted from the surface of the blood pool, which had gained new power. The surface of the blood pool throbbed like a pulsating heart. All the vampires in the hall changed color in unison. They all felt their blood rushing through their bodies as if stimulated by something, as if they were cheering enthusiastically for the blood monarch who was about to be resurrected!

"Unprecedented changes--"

Mogens looked up, staring blankly at the scene, and said in a trembling voice,

"For centuries, the despicable Papacy has returned."

Unconsciously, Morgans straightened up, his expression excited, and slowly approached the blood pool. The man by the pool watched him indifferently, a fleeting hint of mockery in his deep eyes.

"So, are you sure that simply injecting the power of this fang will bring it back to life, Morgens?"

The man flipped his palm over, looking at the fangs in his hand, his face revealing a hint of anticipation.

"I am absolutely certain!"

Mogens said with certainty,

"This power, which rightfully belonged to it, was taken away by the despicable Church. I don't know what happened, but it eventually ended up in the hands of Amosta Blaine, but he was unable to comprehend its great power."

"Let's wait and see."

The man spoke in a low voice, holding the fang in one hand, and then drew his wand.

Accompanied by eerie chanting and profound spellcasting, the intricate magical corridors on the ground surrounding the blood pool were activated one after another, beginning to emit a dim, ominous glow. The lightning permeating the blood pool suddenly emitted an even more dazzling crimson light, and the fangs in the man's palms, summoned by an inexplicable power, suddenly hovered above the blood pool with a whoosh.

hum!

The crimson lightning connected the vortex in the center of the blood pool with the fangs floating above, becoming a channel for channeling power!

Boiling, roaring, howling—every drop of blood in the blood pool transformed into a face filled with hatred and resentment, merging, fighting, and devouring each other. Incomparably powerful magic enveloped the abandoned hall, and pressure as heavy as an overturned canopy weighed on the hearts of every living being. In a daze, the blood pool seemed to have become a gate to hell, and an unparalleled demon was resurrected from hell!

The vampires looked on with reverence and devotion towards the hall, except for—

"What are you doing, Mr. Grevis!"

Behind a group of vampires, Sirius and the others who had arrived through the fireplace stared in disbelief at Grevis, who was surrounded by vampires and holding his wand high at the fangs floating in mid-air. Selena screamed in despair!

Chapter 951: Dying

Selena, Eriel, and even Amelia, who was still just an intern Auror, stared at the hundreds of vampires. The number was astonishing. According to the Department of Security's statistics, there were not nearly such a large number of vampires operating in New York. Clearly, someone of high status was providing cover for these dark creatures.

The three wizards of the Magic Council stared blankly at Trak Grevis, who exuded a chilling aura completely different from his usual self, each thinking they were hallucinating.

Amelia still wanted to deceive herself, believing that the Gravis in front of her was an imposter created by the vampire named Morgans. However, Morgans was standing right next to Gravis.

Compared to them, Sirius was much calmer.

He only raised his eyebrows in surprise when he saw Grevis casting some kind of evil magic, then simply said, "I see," before his expression returned to calm.

After all, Sirius had experienced an even more devastating betrayal.

Selena's furious scream roused the vampires from their reverie in the hall. A flurry of noise followed, and they were suddenly surrounded by countless wands. Selena, seemingly oblivious to their perilous situation, appeared as if her worldview had shattered. Her eyes churned with anger, disappointment, heartache, and even despair.

Grevis slowly turned his head, facing his former trusted subordinate. His face showed no shame for betraying his colleague, nor any anger at being exposed; only calmness. This calmness broke his usual solemn image, strangely making him look much more amiable!

"Ah, it's you guys--"

Grevis smiled calmly, not looking at Selena and Eriel, but instead his gaze fell upon Sirius and Amelia.

"You're acting on Blaine's orders, aren't you? Heh, I knew it all along. A wizard as brilliant as him would eventually see through the hidden plans of a mediocre person like me, and he certainly wouldn't stand idly by."

"Is this why you've been targeting Amosta?"

Grevis's sentiments did not stir Sirius's heart. In the two years since he met Amosta, he had witnessed Amosta thwart many conspiracies and schemes.

"I don't want Amostrath Blaine to come to the American wizarding world—"

Grevis maintained his calm smile.

"So, ever since Remus Lupin submitted the application to Congress for the import and sale of the Learning Machine, and I learned that Amosta Blaine and his workshop had contacted him, I decided to shut the workshop out. I knew that invention was remarkable, and once the Learning Machine entered the American magical world, many magical families, including the Grevis family, would flock to it for cooperation."

A werewolf alone cannot control the situation. Amosta Blaine was bound to come to New York as the leader, and at that time, I would probably have to appear in front of him and expose myself to his sight. He would then immediately know my predicament and what I was doing. And that proved to be true.

I thought that would buy time, but I really didn't expect Blaine to be so profit-driven. A wizard like him willing to personally negotiate with Congress to get the learning machine into the American magical world—his influence was too great. When he submitted his entry application, I had no choice but to accept it.

What are you saying?!

Eriel's voice trembled as he spoke—though he couldn't understand what Sirius and Amelia were saying.

After a brief silence, Sirius looked coldly at the high-ranking official of the Magical Congress of the United States.
