The Return to Hogwarts
Page 639
Amelia looked at her mother, but had no heart to comfort her. She wondered, did Amosta really know nothing?
So, the first thing a wise wizard does to gain fame is to find the Chamber of Secrets at Hogwarts, which had remained undiscovered for centuries. After that, he thwarted many conspiracies and even invented the amazing alchemical tool, the Learning Machine.
Suddenly, Amelia remembered the first time she met Amosta at the immigration office.
When Amosta saw her, his expression was filled with shock. Mandy thought that Amosta was attracted by her appearance, which was why Amosta had assigned her to be in charge of the security department's 'guarding' of him.
Amosta knew all along!
He had already sensed it when he saw me upon entering the country, when he saw this face, and when he heard that my name was 'Derte'. That's why he agreed to come to the family dinner last night and was willing to stay overnight.
All doubts vanished in an instant, and Amelia's heart shone as brightly as a silver mirror!
But all of this is so absurd!
Amelia's wide eyes gleamed with shock and terror—Amosta Blaine was...her nephew?!
A world-renowned wizard with numerous remarkable achievements is related to this young witch who has only recently graduated. No wonder the wand reacted so strangely when Amosta touched it, and Amosta was able to use her wand smoothly!
Amelia shuddered, remembering the predicament Amostella was currently facing.
A deep sense of guilt filled Amelia's heart. Guilt towards Amosta, for she had a complete family and enjoyed the love of her parents.
But what about Amosta?
He had nothing. He grew up in an orphanage, without a warm and comfortable environment or the care of parents.
This stark contrast made Amelia feel as if she had stolen the affection that belonged to Amosta!
Her breathing grew heavier, and a blush rose on Amelia's fair face. A strong urge to do something for Amosta was brewing in her heart and quickly surged forth!
Go find Grevis?
No. That's completely useless; Amelia has already tried it before.
She should go find Remus; he's Amosta's good friend, and he should know what to do, which is what Amosta told her to do.
"I'm going to find Remus Lupin; he'll know how to help Amosta!"
Seeing her parents still deeply immersed in grief, Amelia suddenly spoke in a loud voice.
"I can't wait any longer. I don't know what will happen next. I have to hurry!"
Before the Detts could react, Amelia had already vanished from the spot.
Hearing a commotion upstairs, the couple disregarded their grief and helped each other up the stairs. They found Amelia had already changed her clothes swiftly and efficiently. She pointed to her hair with her wand, revealing her radiant brown hair tied into a high ponytail at the back of her head.
"Mom and Dad, stay home, I'll let you know!"
After saying this, the Detts, who had just arrived, saw their daughter disappear from sight once again.
Amelia bought a copy of the New York Ghost News when she had a spare moment. Not a single word about Amosta's detention by the Magical Congress was mentioned in it. Flames burned in Amelia's eyes. She knew that the Department of Security must have suppressed the news again. Otherwise, Woolworth Building would have been overwhelmed by reporters from all over the world by this evening.
After taking a slightly roundabout route, Amelia finally found Remus's location. She had assumed Remus would be meeting with a group of officials from the International Department of Magical Cooperation and members of many magical families.
In reality, when Amelia found Remus, he was in a small, secluded fairy hotel.
The hotel was not open for business; the guest rooms had been converted into offices, and many fairies were busy with their desks.
The one-armed fairy who led her took Amelia to Remus's sickbed. Yes, a sickbed.
"What happened to you, Remus?"
Amelia looked at Remus, who lay on the bed, pale and listless, and was so shocked that she forgot to mention Amostella's condition.
"You have been attacked!"
"Oh, an attack. No—"
Remus gave a very weak smile, and gestured with his eyes towards the glass bottle on the bedside table.
"I was so engrossed in my work that I forgot... I think you should know that last night, phew, the full moon almost caused a huge problem. Luckily, I always carry wolfsbane medicine with me. So, you seem to have something urgent to attend to. Where is Amelia Amostella? Shouldn't you be with her?"
So Amelia began to speak, and as her tone quickened, Remus's unfocused gaze, lying on the bed, gradually sharpened until it became intense.
"What do you think we should do now, Remus?"
Amelia tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and asked anxiously.
Remus took a few deep breaths.
"Please help me up, Amelia. There's something only you can trust me to do—"
"what?"
"Go see Albus, Albus Dumbledore, and tell him about Amostall's situation."
With Amelia's help, Remus struggled to sit up, looking at the stunned Amelia.
"Go immediately. The fairies have a way to get you to England, but be careful. You know this is smuggling. Tell Albus what's going on and do as he says."
Chapter 936 Encounter
2024-05-25
As time quietly slips into the latter half of April, spring has unknowingly come to an end this year.
As the young wizards of Hogwarts ran wild on the lawn, they would increasingly notice the dazzling sunlight reflected off the Black Lake, with bright, sunny weather becoming the dominant theme.
The second three-way battle concluded in late February. The match was not as exciting as people expected, and for some unknown reasons, it was rarely discussed.
Even at Hogwarts, most young wizards were unwilling to talk about what happened that day, because the story behind the unexpectedly interrupted match was too heavy, so heavy that most people did not want to face it.
The next match in the Triwizard Tournament is scheduled for June, leaving a four-month gap in between.
For young wizards, four whole months without anything exciting was an unbearable ordeal. So, Quidditch, a widely popular sport, resurfaced. The lack of official matches wasn't a problem, as the resourceful young wizards could organize their own 'amateur' games.
Since late March, small groups have been meeting at the Quidditch pitch almost every weekend. The professors are happy to see the children release their pent-up emotions, so they only reminded the students to be careful and did not interfere much.
It was another sunny weekend, and the glaring sunlight woke Harry up after he stayed up all night to finish his homework.
The big boy, who was lying sprawled on the four-poster bed, rubbed his sleepy eyes and groggily sat up.
In the dormitory, apart from Ron, who was still fast asleep in his bed, everyone else was nowhere to be seen.
Harry yawned, kicked off the blanket covering his legs, and groggily got out of bed. He leaned on the pillar at the foot of the bed to get to the bedside, opened the window, and let the refreshing breeze into his dormitory high up in the tower.
The faint sound of enthusiastic cheers drifted through the fresh air, which piqued Harry's curiosity. He went back to his bedside, picked up his glasses from the bedside table, and once his vision was clear, quickly returned to the window.
It's the commotion over at the Quidditch stadium.
"Oh--"
Harry raised his eyebrows in surprise; he was quite taken aback that someone had already organized a competition so early.
"What's wrong, Harry?"
A weak, feeble voice came from behind him. Harry didn't turn around and say anything.
“There’s a match going on, Ron—”
"Oh, the match."
Ron squinted, searching for his shoes. He mumbled a few words, his voice still weak and listless.
"But today is Hogsmeade Open Day, isn't it? Hermione invited us to come along, and she said she needs to buy some new quill pens."
"Oh--"
Harry blinked.
"I forgot about it. Hurry up, Ron, I think Hermione is already waiting for us down there!"
Harry immediately found a clean set of clothes to change into, and then rushed into the bathroom to take care of his hygiene. While he finished, Ron was still dawdling over putting on a T-shirt, his eyes half-closed.
“You’d better hurry up, Ron.”
Harry sat on the edge of the bed putting on his shoes, complaining as he did so.
"Is dating Lavender more tiring than practicing dodging dung balls?"
"What are you saying, Harry!"
Ron snapped back to reality, his face turning bright red instantly, right down to his ears. He quickly dressed and stammered, "..."
"I already told you when I asked to borrow the Invisibility Cloak, didn't I? I just didn't eat enough tonight and wanted to go to the kitchen to beg some food from those hospitable house-elves!"
"I see."
Harry stood up and stomped his feet a couple of times; his sneakers were getting too small and he needed to buy new ones.
"The invisibility cloak you gave me back was actually house-elf fur! I thought it was Lavender's hair!"
Ron stopped trying to explain. He pulled up his collar, lowered his head, and rushed into the bathroom, huffing and puffing.
"We're not too late, are we, Hermione?"
The two boys finished preparing everything and rushed out of the dormitory, leaping over the spiral staircase. After searching for a while, they found Hermione on the sofa next to the old dresser. Harry waved and asked.
"Oh, of course not--"
Surprisingly, Hermione didn't fly into a rage. She looked down at her newspaper and completely ignored the two of them.
"You just missed breakfast and lunch, but that's no big deal. We can still look forward to dinner, can't we?"
When Harry and Ron came to her side looking embarrassed, Hermione gave a soft snort and said sarcastically.
