The Return to Hogwarts

Amostella walked over and opened the door. A Muggle waiter in a tuxedo leaned forward, glanced into the room without being presumptuous, and asked politely.
"It's me--"
After receiving an affirmative reply, the waiter took out his right hand, which was behind his back, and handed a letter to Amosta.
"A gentleman just came to the hotel reception and handed us a letter, asking us to personally deliver it to Mr. Amosta Blaine. This is the letter—"
Amosta glanced at the letter before looking away and asked in a gentle tone,
Did the person who delivered the letter leave their name?
"not at all--"
The waiter bowed slightly and said,
“He just told us that if you asked, he would tell you that there was something in the letter that you might be interested in.”
There was no room for lies or concealment in front of Amosta. He nodded slightly, thanked him, took the letter, and closed the door.
"what happened?"
Remus stood up from behind his desk and strode over to Amostella's side. He had overheard Amostella's conversation with the waiter, but found the whole thing rather strange.
Normally, letters between wizards are sent by owls, but this letter was sent by a Muggle servant to Amosta without leaving a name, and with a puzzling message. Something is definitely wrong here.
Looking at the letter in Amostella's hand—a letter without a sender's name or a stamp like Muggles would—Remus frowned slightly and said softly.
“Be careful, Amosta, there might be a trap.”
Amosta nodded slightly but remained silent. He turned the envelope over and over in his hand a few times before opening it.
"Do you need me to dismantle it, Amosta?"
Just as Amosta was about to tear open the seal, Amelia strode over. She temporarily set aside her invitation to Amosta for dinner and said solemnly,
“Since the department took your wand, they should be responsible for your safety. Amosta, I think Remus is right. There might be a trap in the envelope.”
Remus glanced at Amelia with some surprise. Although this girl wasn't one of them, her meticulous and responsible work style was quite admirable.
"Oh, thank you, Amelia—"
Amosta smiled gently at her, and as he opened the letter, he said...
"But I'm not so bad that I can't tell if something is a dark magic item or cursed without my wand."
Amosta pulled a piece of white paper with some writing on it from the envelope and waved it in front of the two wary men.
"Here, it's just a letter."
Seeing that it was indeed just an ordinary piece of paper, Amelia breathed a sigh of relief, but the more experienced Remus did not let his guard down. He noticed something unusual—just as Amostall had said, it was just a letter, but the paper used to write it was parchment, the kind of paper commonly used in the Muggle world. Wizards usually use parchment for letters and documents.
It seems a Muggle wrote a letter to Amosta?
But then another question arises: Does Amosta have Muggle acquaintances in New York? And how did he know they lived here?
Remus looked at Amosta, hoping for an explanation.
As Amosta skimmed the words on the paper, a few fine lines appeared between his brows, softening his usual gentle demeanor. A sense of authority emanated from him, forcing Amelia and Remus into silence.
"Ah--"
But then, Amosta smiled, his stern demeanor vanishing, and handed the letter to Remus. After reading it, Remus looked on in surprise and fell silent.
Amelia couldn't resist stealing a glance at the letter in Remus's hand, and upon reading it, she suddenly exclaimed in surprise.
"A lead on a criminal who poached a Level 5X magical creature. But I don't understand why the person who wrote this letter would come to you; shouldn't they be going to the Department of Security?"
"Or go find Mr. Newt Scamander—"
Remus's eyes flashed with thoughts; his brows furrowed as he looked at Amosta and said...
"The New York Ghost has already publicly reported on his purpose for coming to New York, if anyone has any leads..."
"Perhaps the person who wrote this letter to me is facing some difficulties and finds it inconvenient to show their face in front of the Department of Security. Newt is in the Magical Creatures Reserve, where a large number of Magical Congress strikers are also stationed."
After a moment's thought, Amosta said.
I glanced again at the location left on the letter—a Muggle café, and the time was 8 p.m. two days later, after the joint review meeting.
The sender not only knew where Amosta lived, but also his itinerary.
However, finding out this information is not difficult.
Remus glanced at Amelia, who seemed hesitant to speak, and knew that this girl, who was even less capable than Tonks and not even a trainee Auror, definitely wanted to report the matter to the Department of Security. This was normal; it was her duty. But Amosta certainly had her own plans.
"You're going to meet this person?"
Remus asked, but his tone was very certain.
"how to say?"
Amosta smiled.
"When I landed in New York and saw the first newspaper article about the poaching of those amazing creatures, I had a feeling that this would happen to me sooner or later."
Chapter 918 The Review Meeting Begins
2024-05-15
Since Amosta was willing to accept the invitation because of a very dubious letter, there was no reason for him to refuse Amelia's parents' dinner invitation, except that it could only be after the time specified in the invitation letter.
So, in any case, a week after Amosta and Remus landed in New York, the two finally officially stepped into the doors of the Magical Congress of the United States.
After Amelia led them through the doors shared by Muggles and wizards, the grandeur of the Capitol building momentarily surprised the two travelers who had come from afar.
In the center of the spacious parliament hall stood about thirty or forty wizards, dressed in formal attire, waiting quietly with solemn expressions. Judging from the stern look that Amelia showed the moment she saw them, these wizards who came to greet her were clearly not ordinary people.
A red carpet was laid from the entrance all the way to the feet of the welcoming staff, while the curious wizards who lingered and the reporters who had raised their cameras early were kept outside a certain area by the cordon and the Aurors under martial law.
“That’s Mr. Trak Grevis and Ms. Marcel White from the International Department of Magical Cooperation.”
Amelia whispered to Amosta and Remus, who were following behind her, identifying the two high-ranking officials from the Magic Council, and then noticeably quickened her pace. Remus, who was beside Amosta, silently took two steps back.
"Welcome, Mr. Blaine--"
When the two sides were about thirty feet apart, the two representatives of the Magical Congress stepped out from their ranks. The middle-aged witch with slightly wavy blonde hair extended her hand to Amosta early on, a friendly smile on her face, and said in a loud voice,
"Welcome to the Magical Congress of the United States of America, the most powerful wizard of our time!"
A person of such status has profound meaning in every word and action. Based on this one meeting alone, Amosta was able to judge the stance of this person in charge of the U.S. International Magic Cooperation Division.
"Oh--"
Amostella, also smiling, quickly leaped past Amelia, grasped Ms. White's hand, and shook it.
"It seems the Magical Congress of America is determined to humiliate me, isn't it?"
Under the spotlight, both sides chuckled softly.
"Please allow me to introduce myself, Mr. Blaine--"
Ms. Marcel held Amosta's hand tightly and said with a pleasant expression,
“I am Marcel White, and I currently work for the Department of International Magical Cooperation of the Magical Congress of the United States.”
"Nice to meet you, Ms. White--"
Amosta nodded and smiled slightly, politely looking into Ms. White's eyes.
“Mr. Barty Crouch, the former Director of the Department of International Magical Cooperation at the British Ministry of Magic, is a close friend of mine. He once spoke to me about you, saying that you are a very respectable witch, especially in the area of promoting international cooperation in the magical community, where you have made undeniable contributions!”
Remus's forced business smile froze for a moment; he was quite certain that Amosta was talking complete nonsense.
"Oh, in fact, I was just doing my best to live up to the expectations of Chairman Kohaug and the people of the wizarding world."
But Amos Star's commercial endorsement made Marcel White's smile even brighter, and she subtly drew Amos Star Blaine's gaze to the man beside her.
"This is Mr. Trak Grevis, Director of the Department of Law Enforcement and Head of the Security Division of the Magical Association of America—"
Ms. Marcel smiled and said,
“I’m sure you’ve heard of him, haven’t you, Mr. Blaine?”
Remus, standing behind Amosta, had already noticed the wizard next to Marcel White, who stood upright with a faint smile on his hard face, somewhat resembling Barty Crouch. Upon hearing the introduction, Remus's relaxed brows furrowed slightly, and he looked over with a stern expression.
Amosta seemed oblivious, his polite smile remaining unchanged as he turned his face toward Trak Grevis beside Marcel.
Born into a prestigious family and serving as the head of a powerful department in the Magical Congress of the United States, Grevis had met many renowned wizards and high-ranking officials and ministers from various countries' magical communities throughout his life. With his extensive experience and profound background, he was able to interact with these people on an equal footing.
However, the moment his slightly deep gaze fell upon the strange pale purple eyes of the young wizard standing opposite him, he instinctively gasped for breath. He was mentally prepared, but in that moment of daze, he seemed to see a starry sky in those pure eyes, boundless and profound, causing his heartbeat to involuntarily become slightly disordered.
"certainly--"
At a glance, Amosta had already discerned much. It seemed that what Narrak had told him was not unfounded. Amosta's tone deepened slightly.
“If I remember correctly, Wizarding Weekly once published a report praising the stable and orderly living environment of the American wizarding community. The report stated that, given the sheer size of the American wizarding community, the fact that this was possible was enough to prove that the law enforcement agencies of the Magical Congress of the United States of America had always upheld the most professional and impartial law enforcement attitude. I believe that this must be inseparable from Mr. Grevis’s strict supervision.”
"As Ms. White just said--"
The moment Grevis met Amosta Blaine, he knew that all his previous worries were not unfounded. This wizard, who had risen to fame in the last two years, was indeed worth treating with the utmost caution.
A pang of regret suddenly welled up from the bottom of his heart. Grevis pursed his lips. He shouldn't have taken the risk of appearing in front of Amosta Blaine at all.
In fact, he shouldn't have allowed Amosta Blaine to appear in New York at all. No matter what lame excuse he used or how much power he mobilized, he should have kept Blaine out of the country before he finished everything.
But it's too late to say anything now; under the watchful eyes of everyone, he has no chance to back down.
